On trail eat up! You need the calories but off trail at home is where most people have problems. You should see a nutritionist after you finish the PCT!

I'd recommend a dietitian instead. Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist; a dietitian actually has a medical degree and additional training.

When I went on my weight loss journey what helped the most was only changing a couple things at a time. It doesn’t have to be 100% change right away. Your doing so many great things and once your comfortable you can change one or two more things. I hate the word diet. I like to see it as a lifestyle change. Always cheering for you!!! ❤️❤️❤️

The Sierras have been really bad this year, still even now (since i know these videos are delayed). I think you and others are wise to choose safety. Some of the posts from those who are hiking through are terrifying and frankly it makes me angry they would risk their lives, and perhaps the lives of rescue personnel. I think early on you said you were hiking to live, not hiking to die. Still applies. Love seeing your videos. Hugs 🤗

Great job of setting a 15 mile daily goal. You are becoming a walking machine! The first couple weeks of your videos I was thinking you would not finish due to low mileage days now I think you will finish the trail this year! Keep working towards your goals you are making great strides.

  • @michaelb1761

I'd recommend mid August through early September start for the Sierra this year to see it at its best. Also, lots of snow in Nor Cal and Oregon this year. I was hiking around Castle Crags on June 7, and the snow was solid at around 6,000 feet with several feet of snow on north facing slopes. We are over 2 months behind a normal year in terms of snow melting off.

Snow will be deep until mid August in the Sierras. Many hikers are going to southern Oregon and north to the Canadian border. From there, bounce back and hike south through northern Cal' and the Sierras to finish on top Whitney. Sounds like a plan. This is advisable as fire season is coming to Oregon and Washington when things dry out and that means going around and skipping some trail. Doing things early through there would be good then . . . Finishing in the Sierras would be fantastic and especially on top of Whitney.

I think flip-flopping is an excellent idea Cory right now the Sierras are not The best place for hiking. It’s tough it’s snowing it’s icy and anything could happen up in those areas. There’s no shame in flip-flopping. When you’re filming show us where you came from can you see the trail behind you. Show us where you’re going give us some names of some of the mountain tops that you’re looking at. One of the things that most of us like about you is you keep it real. This is been an epic journey for you and there’s still plenty to come. Somebody needs to write a book about you and your journey or video.

No hike should be held to a certain "way"that it must be done. Plenty will give opinions on what and how to do anything. In the end you decide what is best for YOU. That is what hike your own hike is all about. You have touched many lives and will continue to do so. You do that by being genuine. This is why your channel grew like it did. People are tired of fakers and posers. You have got real charisma and determination.

You might need to look at a joint supplement with chondroitin glucosamine and turmeric. Good for inflammation, good for cartilage support. Great to see your progress, you look like a completely different person already. While I am not on trail, you have inspired me to put in the work. I did my first 15 mile day yesterday. You're doing a great job! It's so awesome that your weight loss journey is going well, remember not to just focus on the weight lost, but also the muscle you are gaining! And if you are going to take Ibuprofen please make sure to eat something when you do. You don't want to take it on an empty stomach or it could cause stomach issues. Flip if you think it's what's best for you.

Good food choice. You need to eat or your body won't let go of the fat. & you have probably gained 20lbs in muscle. The only thing your food is missing is fiber & potassium. Love&Blessings

Second Chance, I agree with your assessment of the Sierras this year. Flip up north and come back to do the miles when the snowpack has melted off some. I have the same camo Duplex tent as you; It looked to me like you had your small pointy end of the trekking pole in the pole cup at the doorway. Interesting. I always put the handle into the cup. Is it stable enough? Hike on, and hugs!

I have really enjoyed your videos. Your enthusiasm is contagious, and I am very impressed by your tenacity and optimism. It truly is amazing what you have done to date. One idea for trail food -- trail mix. I would think that nuts and dried fruit would be more nutritious than Pringles and lighter than olives. On a different topic, you should definitely HYOH, and don't let your followers influence whether you flip or not. I personally think flipping would be a good idea. You might want to look at Little Skittle's videos, particularly her last one of the section from Mammoth to Sonora Pass, to see whether you really want to do the Sierra now. I have hiked in the Sierra in September and early October, and it is a lovely time to hike and you wouldn't have to worry about raging creeks and lots of snow. Keep on trucking! You are keeping me entertained while I am recovering from a leg injury, and not allowed to do too much vigorous exercise.
