Hayling Island (1974)

Hayling Island, Hampshire, 1974, on the Havant Road. Amateur 8mm film. A jumble of clips from three separate occasions. The landlord of the B&B kept cage birds and was a big Pompey fan. Adders lived in the scrub grass by the shoreline.

I lived there and was 9 when that was filmed :) Fun to see it again as it was in the 70s.

In fact he went on to become a senior manager in telecoms R&D, retired recently, and lives in the North of England! Never judge a book by its cover!

I was a semi pro musician in 1974 and our lead guitarist , lived on Hayling Island. I was regularly stopped by the police late at night having dropped off our guitarist and on my way home to north Portsmouth. They were surprise surprise 'pigs'
