One of the reasons this kind of music is almost never heard is that people don't have a clue what it is all about. The lyrics by Vinicius de Moraes are wonderful but 100% incomprehensible. Portugese is not like Spanish where everything is pronounced well, it is a jumble of vowels and sounds we don't have which make it like Chinese, although one can decipher it from written lyrics. Another factor is, or rather used to be, the weather. The sultry, soothing rhythms and melodies do not go down well in cold wind and rain. But climate change is changing all that. Last year, we had the longest and hottest summer since 1850. A mixed blessing. :-)

For me, your version and Billy Eckstine's are the best versions. Although different approaches, but I really like how you tickle the words instead of gunning them out, it changes the song from being a bossa number into a state of mind. Happy to hear more of that

Love it! Jobim forever!!! I'm a guitarist and admire the guitarist here. He gets, with the bass and drums, such a full sound. Never overplays with too many notes in his soloing. Very inspiring. But this just shows the overarching reach of bossa nova nylon-stringed guitar. Traditional, swing and modern jazz tunes, the whole American Songbook, country music, pop music, classical, funk, blues; just name it, all sound great and are very approachable on the bossa nova guitar. Guitarists, do yourself a favour and check it out. It's as good as piano but with much more convenience and better economy. Remember, to sound good on electric guitar like Carlos Santana or Eric Clapton etc. you need a gifted and sympathetic keyboardist behind you! Not with bossa nova nylon-stringed guitar.

Nice slow groove , nice sound even if a bit too clean for me.
The only thing that bugs me is that Em9 chord at 0:15 . Not only the F# does not belong to C major but also dammage the power of the later modulation brought by the F# on the melody and harmonized by B7 . I hope thats helps a little anyway your video's nice guys!
