- The National Weather Service provides an update on the latest as an outbreak of tornadoes strike across the U.S, including Oklahoma and Nebraska.
A tornado in Holdenville, Oklahoma left two people killed and several others hurt. The power went out for tens of thousands of customers. There are reports an infant is among the two dead. Governor Kevin Stitt declared a state of emergency in 12 counties saying, "My prayers are with those who lost loved ones as tornadoes ripped through Oklahoma last night." Stitt plans to tour the city of Sulphur.
A violent supercell of tornadoes struck across Nebraska, including a town called Elkhorn.

Im so sorry for the people in Oklahoma.
We just went through the massive tornadic storm on Friday. I'm sorry for the families who lost their loved ones. Every one found shelter here in Nebraska.

My family and our home was apart of the plainview area right off of highway 70 in Ardmore Oklahoma that was completely destroyed. I was home alone and absolutely blessed to have walked out alive

Fenomene meteorologice și dezastre naturale exista de când lumea. Pentru cei afectați de tsunami 2004 a fost ca și sfârșitul lumii. Dinozaurii au dispărut tot din cauza unor dezastre naturale. Credinta e buna, dar sa fim serioși, nu Dumnezeu controlează fenomenele naturale care se petrec de milioane de ani pe pământ. Acum aflam de mai multe dezastre ca urmare a dezvoltării tehnologiei. Acum 30-40 de ani foloseam telefoane rotative, nici nu se prea problema smart phone-urilor. Nu mai vorbim cu 100, 1000 de ani in urma. Cine era sa filmeze când se produceau dezastre de orice fel in antichitate sau in Evul Mediu. Desigur, cei cu credință in Dumnezeu pot crede ca Dumnezeu i-a salvat dintr-un dezastru, dar ce te faci cu milioanele de oameni cu credita sinceră in Dumnezeu care pier in dezastre? Deci sa nu-l amestecam pe Dumnezeu in deszastrele de orice fel, ca nu e de vina.

I like ved in Oklahoma along time. I moved 32 years ago. We always had shelters then but I don't see that there now. People must start building shelters again when they buy a home. It should be one if the first things when buying or building out their. Also,? When renting look for places that have them. Schools used to have shelters but newer-built schools no longer take this as a precedent. I don't understand why.
These days they build them into the garage. Either in the ground or an above ground safe room. I really don’t like those though. It seems like if the house comes down then debris could trap you inside of them!! Terrifying.

When my daughter and her husband built their home, they opted for a below ground cellar with garage access. It's registered, so in the event of a catastrophe they will know where the cellar is at and where to look.
I ok num have experience with inground cellars built away from the house. I don't know how I would feel with the above ground ones. It would be terrifying. I know back when the big ones moved through the City and Moore, there was one that took a direct hit and they made it. Can't imagine how they felt during it.
@@littlebitlost I know they’re registered and someone will come look for people in them, but I’m claustrophobic and I don’t know how long I’d be able to sit in one of those without having a panic attack!! Scary stuff. Plus, I’ve heard stories of people trapped in theirs as it filled with water…🥺

Tornados, or any natural disaster, is not God's punishment on man. If you want to pray to someone about natural disasters,try Mother Nature. If you read the Bible, the Vengeful God was in the Old Testament. A Forgiving God is in the New Testament. Plus, a lot of disasters are attributable to man, thanks to us causing climate changes.

I have lived in Kansas for over 50 years and back in the 60s and 70s we got far more tornadoes and storms than we get today in fact we have been in a drought for years due to lack of storms.
I grew up in Oklahoma, born in 58 and lived there all through the 70's. We had them but, I am going to respectfully disagree with you. We didn't have more than now. The reporting. now is a lot better in Oklahoma and lots more lives are saved then back then.
I lived in Tulsa Oklahoma till I was about 14 years old. It’s so crazy to me how nonchalant everyone was including me during constant tornado events. I live in Ohio now and we get the occasional tornado. My best wishes to everyone who got affected by the storms this weekend.
Maybe Tornado Alley shouldn't have any houses maybe human beings are building homes in areas that are not meant for little stick buildings I mean you would think in that area all homes would be built underground
Maybe we shouldn't build where they have floods, droughts, wildfires, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, landslides, or sinkholes either.

Now I'm surprised just Southwest of sulphur is Marietta Oklahoma on interstate 35.
It's slammed right into the Dollar tree distribution center crossed over I-35 did a whole lot of damage destroyed truck stop before heading Northeast towards sulphur. nobody seems to talk about what happened down in Marietta
There is video of the damage at that warehouse. Absolute devastation. A horrible night in Oklahoma (I live here, and have loved ones all over the state), but thanks to the spotters and those who stream on UA-cam, no doubt many lives were saved.

I've lived in oklahoma all my life. Tornadoes getting worse as time goes by. A lot of those small towns, and northern towns don't always receive information, because they have no cable or internet service. If. They do receive any weather information, it's by phone,or not soon enough.
I knew the deaths tolls wil come out sooner or later, that tornado was very strong.

With the amount of warning you might get for an actual tornado touchdown you're just as likely to run into it then have it miss you.
