Seiko SCED039 Giugiaro Design Chronograph FULL REVIEW

- So today we're having a look at a Seiko SCED039 which is one of the Giugiaro Design watches used in the movie Aliens. I got this Seiko chronograph cheap as it is not the same colorway used in the movie.
Quite honestly, I saw the movie in the theater back in the day, and it wasn't until I started my watch hobby that I found out. Just a bit of detail the costume designer added that only a watch nerd would pick up on.
Anyhow, happy birthday to The Jesus.

Some stuff not mentioned in the video... While it's on a cheap bracelet, I did find it comfortable. If your wrist is larger than mine (8 1/4 inches) this watch WILL NOT fit you, I'm literally one micro-adjustment away from the max bracelet size. Finally, no lume on this watch.

Is this watch suitable for swimming and diving?
It's 100m resistant. Which means (on paper) it should be OK for washing dishes, rain storms, swimming, and perhaps snorkeling. Don't use the chronograph buttons while underwater. Don't shower with ANY watch as the soaps/shampoos can destroy the gaskets over time. Personally I wouldn't put this or any watch in water unless it was specifically a divers watch with a screw down crown and 200m of water resistance. This watch has neither.
Trading a hobo santa for a limited edition Seiko = a Christmas miracle 🙂

@@FoxMulder78 Hi. I'm surviving. My office/video studio is technically deemed a non-essential business in the office park it sits in. So no new videos at the moment. Although I never was a "business" or open to the public. I could probably do videos if I lock my office door while there. We'll see if I get tired of bad movies soon enough. 😏

It is JUST big enough for my wrist, full bracelet with all the links in and I'm one microadjust in. Seiko will give you links for free, but not sure for these Seiko Spirit JDM models (they may not have parts here for those).

Funny thing about Christmas - it’s not actually Jesus’ birthday, the holiday was basically just a marketing gimmick by the church to phase out pagan tradition.
We need to put Saturn back in Saturnalia! 😏
Almost NOTHING about the Christmas tradition in the US/Europe has anything to do with the birth of Jesus. Christmas trees/Yule logs/Mistletoe all have pagan origin. Santa Claus although loosely based on Saint Nicholas had nothing to do with Jesus either.

@@Colddirector Best quartz Chrono I've run across so far is the Bulova military dial UHF. Of course I'm not big into Chronographs, but it does tick all the boxes that make me happy. I did a review of one a long time ago...
@@Colddirector FYI, I just picked up a Bulova Moon watch chronograph for about $180 which uses the same uhf movement as their older military chrono, but it looks more like an Omega Speedmaster. It was a store unsold stock from "watches half price" on eBay...considering these had an MSRP of $600, that isn't bad.

It was a Japanese seller on eBay, unfortunately his account was closed shortly after the sale. That said there are others selling this watch at about the same price on eBay. Most are from Japan. I suspect these variant colorways were not popular, and were sold at closeout prices in Japan. Hence the low prices...
do we really need chronograph in watches at all does anybody ever use it.
i use it to time my hard boiled eggs
