Camera work is amazing. Pacing is amazing. And best of all, there aren't any unnecessarily edgy jokes. I love that Mario, when the bomb landed beside him, didn't go "son of a--" or "oh mother fu--". He just drops a simple "Oh no!" And that's good enough on its own.

It's sad if you see it in a certain perspective. What if the kid passed away and before he died he told luigi that. And luigi was pretty much seeing him as a spirit or a saddening memory of a child who saw him as a hero? That's how it could be sad.
