    This reminds me of parents ranch in Mexico, get up really early and feed animals. Then my mom would get milk and make cheese and sell them. I would always get fresh eggs 🥚, fresh cilantro,tomatoes,peppers, basil 🌿, the memories!
    You guys are doing this because you want to and love it.
    I’m proud of you guys!

      My body is so crippled up these days but I wish I were building an off-grid homestead somewhere. Our church's new youth pastor and his wife are interested in what I've learned over the last five decades about homesteading and they want to pick my brain. Maybe I'll have a little cabin to spend my last years. They are so sweet. I hope we can do this. I had a place I rented in Oregon, but it was rough getting up at five in the morning to chop kindling for heat in the winter. I need the subtropics of my people in South Florida. LOL

    I like the screw on P-traps you can easily remove in case something falls down there, or it starts to clog up.

    @koryhaggert2848 Рік тому +96

    Ok, as a plumber I'm telling you your drainage system is not vented. So the trap arm has to go to a tee. Jordan you made S-traps not P-traps. For fluids to move they must be vented. Like when you use a straw to pick up milk. Lift your finger it vents and allows milk to run out the straw. It equalizes the air pressure allowing flow. The way you built it it will suck water out of your S-traps so you'll smell the septic tank or wherever it's going

      Seems to me with the size of the pipes and the additional slope you may have trouble floating solids into your tank!

      Another plumber here and these were my thoughts as well. Water might flow more quickly than the solids and leave them in the pipe

    Jordan, check the venting on your drain lines. Anything drainage has to be vented to work or it’ll suck the water from what are, essentially, S-traps without the vent.

    You need to put a breather pipe so the toilet bowl doesn't empty it got to be two inch pipe going from four inch up to the roof the put a breather cap on it or the s bent will empty and smell come through

    Interesting 2 septic tanks ? I have built 7 houses here in Panama and my grey water goes directly to a leach field (which you need for your other tank as well) grey water does not need a tank.. unless you want to conserve water and pump your grey water to your toilet.. this saves loads of water, but of course you cant do that with the two tanks joined.

    Sadie is the cutest, I adore her. No one can ever say Jordan and Kaylee are slackers. I'm worn out just watching all the work you two do! Your families must be so proud of you. If I were your grandmother (I'm old), I'd be showing all my friends your amazing achievements. Even though Lola's farm takes a lot of hard work, it has such a peaceful and joyful vibe. What an awesome place for Sadie to grow up. ☮&❤

    I only have one concern with the plumbing ( one that i care to comment on) but the tailpieces coming down from the floor may be to long. If they are too long you run the risk of the water being pulled out of your trap seals. then you could get the gasses from the septic coming out of your drain.

    I’ll sure miss the two weekly videos but I understand editing takes a lot of time. Thanks for the project update on the farm. It’s looking so amazing. You guys have done so much and it’s awesome and I’m just as excited as you guys are about getting the shower and toilet installed. Next you’ll need a connection between the workshop and the new space so you don’t have to go outside at night to go to the bathroom! You’re amazing hard workers! Love your videos! 👏👍❤️

  • @outdoorsman2b918

    Love your videos.
    Jordan you are wrong. The pitch or slope for waste sewer is 1/8"-1/4". Not a minimum of a 1/4". The reason for it is because you want a minimum water speed to bring the poop and other solids with it. If it is too inclined, the water speed will be too much and will leave the solids behind clogging the pipe.
    Also remember, with plumbing, you always leave a clean out.Just in case you have to snake a pipe to clean it or unclog it.
    I assume your videos are a couple of weeks behind real time. So I hope you correct this before you use the pipe and have problems.

  • @E4mj
    @E4mj Рік тому +1

    Two things: Your pipes need vents or they won't work, and also a little advise for underground plumbing, always test it and THEN back fill the hole. I've had to dig up an entire two days worth of digging to find a leak! ... but as a whole, this is looking great :)

    Be careful about “more than” a 1/4’ to a foot rule… too much fall will allow the liquid to jump the solids, verses pushing the solids, and will allow for trouble as the solids back up. There is a rule for how much maximum fall rate is allowed too for this reason

    Hey Kaylee. IDK if u need an easy fix for your old dry highlighted hair? I’m a retired hair colorist. It’s typical for stylists to bleach the hair a bit too much and then tone it. But the toner fades. Your hair is thirsty. Use a Semi- permanent hair color that has some gold in it. It should be lighter than your own natural hair color. Don’t use permanent color.
    This semi- permanent color will hydrate and tone your dry highlights and will just condition your in highlighted hair. Maybe next time just ask your stylist for just a few highlights around your face. It’s easier to grow out. I Love your videos and so appreciate the hard work you two put in. Hugs. Mary

    Yes, little kids surely do like their clothing optional phase. Sometimes they go through a wear the same thing for days phase later, you send them to camp for a week with a carefully packed suitcase and they wear the same clothes the entire time. That one outfit can stand up by itself lol. Either way, happy kid, no laundry. Then again, some kids change clothes multiple times a day.

    I know you're limited to what's available, but, dealing with waist water is not an area I'd compromise without searching for the correct materials. Toilets need proper ventilation and drainage. The ventilation pipe needs to be 2 inch and rise at least 8' before venting atop the roof. The buried sewer pipe should be 3" schedule 40 and all fittings that carry waste, schedule 40. Standard PVC will leach over time, less time than you might think.

    Just curious as to why the "Off-Grid Composting Toilet" System wasn't used. If you look at Off Grid with Doug and Stacy they have utilized the "Bucket" System and it works. Just make sure you have lids for the buckets and have a volunteer to empty the buckets. Avoid septic tanks at all costs because they tend to deteriorate and pose potential leak hazards.

    Not sure if you put an elbow pointing down in the black water tank so the stuff floating does not float into your gray water tank. Not sure how far you need to go down just know it is needed. Perhaps a person that does septic tanks watches your channel.
