  • Introduction to the basics of START Triage (Simple Triage and Rapid Treatment). START Triage is a system designed for emergency medical response in disasters where there are multiple victims.
In this video Beth Beam, PhD, RN, covers the key concepts behind the process and what you should and, perhaps more importantly, should NOT be doing during the triage process.
At the end of the video, we join students of South East Community College as they practice the process during a simulated mass casualty event.

First, I must apologize for my fearful demeanor in this clip. This video is an earlier one in our library, and we do plan to upgrade it in the near future. We plan to make it more conversational...and hopefully a bit easier to watch. Sometimes being too scripted in videos seems like a good idea at first...and then you realize it just makes you nervous.
Second, we would be pleased to have our video used in research, but it is probably best to contact us directly about requests so we can understand your study purpose and project. The best mechanism to do that is through the 'contact us' feature of the HEROES website at www.unmcheroes.org. We are happy to discuss any research ideas with you further.
    Sincerely,
    Beth Beam
    HEROES Project Coordinator
