I of course downloaded the free blender bridge when it first came out, but I only imported a character and did not mess with it. Thanks for the tutorial.
I installed DAZ TO BLENDER BRIDGE after watching your video. I'm using 2.82. daz 3d add-ons entered, but the DTB_283zip file does not exist. I'd appreciate it if you could tell me the solution. Can I download the DTB file?
I think my video may be out of date as they have made some significant changes to the addon since then. I would have to check and see what the file name is now.
When i import a character posed in daz with the bridge, everything is fine, but when i import a second character in the scene, the first one transforms its pose into a terrible one. Any suggestion? Thanks
I haven't tried a second figure. It usually got messy as the directory where Daz exports to is overwritten every time. That maybe why the first figure is messed up by the second.
I have a lot of thoughts on migrating assets from Daz to Blender. Before official Daz to Blender bridge comes out, I tried 2 addons for Blender. One is diffeomorphic importer, another is DaztoBlender8 made by a Japanese dude. I really can't stop thinking that Daz to Bridge is the DaztoBlender8 addon. It looks so similar and works the same. Probably Daz bought it from that dude and made it free for Daz users which is pretty generous. When I used those 2 addons, I had same problem as you did in this video. The color doesn't match, the detail looks different. I used to be a 3d general artist in a small game studio, so I know the pipeline for textures in 3d software. When you feel details upside down or inside out, it probably means the G channel of normal map is flipped. There is no constant rule for flip G channel or not since every software has its own texture coordinate system. And I think by default, the result from Daz to Blender Bridge is correct. However, I think there exists some settings to tweak in diffeomorphic importer and I just haven't found yet. I did some manual tweak and the result from diffeomorphic importer looks the same as DaztoBlender8. Another thing is that the color space is significant to maintaining texture consistency between software. Some software uses linear color space which is RGB while other software uses gamma corrected color space which is sRGB. If you get it right, your texture will look at least 95% the same, if you get it wrong, you will find your texture looks dark or over bright. I am currently testing these since I moved my pipeline from game engine to Blender and these have to be set correctly. Personally I prefer using DaztoBlender8 for sending character from Daz to Blender and diffeomorphic importer for buildings, environments and other props.
Thanks for your insights. It's weird because with the Bridge did seem to give me different results when I tried it another time. Also it it has a weird square over the character's mouth. Probably the texture for the lipstick isn't totally transparent. It's more noticeable on darker toned characters. I do believe that the DaztoBlender8 videos have the word Bridge in the titles now (I never looked at the videos in depth). So you're probably right about the acquisition. While I'm not adverse to coding, I haven't done it in depth for so long, I'm afraid to get back on that bicycle. lol I somehow think there will be improvements to this bridge given time. I wonder how the bridges to the other programs work out.
@@W3-productions Yeah, bridge should be better since most of the time official plugins work better than 3rd party ones. For now, I just hope Daz could release more videos about different pipelines in depth. The videos in Daz channel don't help a lot. I still have to do a lot of test on my own.
@@chlbrn Yeah, the fact that third party stuff ends up being among the top results when you search UA-cam for "Daz 3D" tells you how much effort they put into their video presence.
This is not the diffeomorphic plugin. I have some vidoes about that as well. ua-cam.com/video/qUR1LGA-A8Y/v-deo.html This here is release through the daz store but seems to be based on an earlier Daz2Blender plugin.
From what I've seen online, maybe Daz is still installing in the background, so minimize windows and see if anything else is installing. Cancel everything and try again. Another bridge may be trying to install/update. Remove any that you don't need.
When using the export script in Daz, the export is saved at C:\Users\%username%\Documents\DTB, same as in the DazToBlender8 wich is more or less the same. When installing the blender add on it reported already having the script, so as someone already mentioned, it's sort of the same but daz bought it i recon and added a few tweaks to it from what i can see. I was looking at this video because im looking to export animations from daz, and i seem to have problems with it even though i follow some youtube videoes that make it with success. If someone got an idea what i could try comments are welcome.
Yes, after making the video, I saw where it was saved and added a reference to it in the description. I have the same issue of importing animations. A partial answer is the use the BVH importer, although it doesn't work with this plugin outright. I have gotten it to work with the diffeomorphic daz importer. The issue then becomes getting appropriate BVH files.
I found out to export animations from daz i needed the registered version of the included plugin aniMate 2. Then right click somewhere in the aniMate 2 tab window and press bake to studio keyframes. Then they can be exported.
@@W3-productions I don't think i tried much, if at all, to export only the animation. I import the character with the animation into unity, and then mark the animation and ctrl+c to copy it, and then i can delete the character keeping the animation. So for me it's not a problem.
One thing I have found out that the bridge can work with Blender 2.9x, but you won't be able to use the sculpt function. The sculpt is fully functional in 2.8x. I do know that 2.9 is still in the alpha and beta stage.
Yeah, I haven't made the jump to 2.9, or even bothered to get the latest 2.8 in a while. As far as the various functions, I'd say a lot is still to come in development, since a lot of the buttons say undocumented feature when you hover over them.
I believe you have to use the Daz Central application to install it for Daz Studio. Once you get Daz Central, most of the bridges should give an option for install.
github.com/johnzero7/XNALaraMesh, this add-on XPS model bring into blender, devianart.com tons of XPS model, Google it. I want to export model as fbx to work on other apps.
Still wondering if this tool supports more legacy characters like M4/V4, that would be really nice to get all the 'Trek Stuff for DAZ ported to Blender so I can use it along side the Star Trek character models I recently got from the games, Star Trek Online and Star Trek Fleet Command (even though those game models have no shape keys rather face bones they're still pretty solid nonetheless.)
I can probably try Genesis 1 or 2, but I don't think I have Victoria. I "might" have Michael (or I mistakenly bought some assets for Michael one time).
@@W3-productions Most of the Star Trek content costumes for Michael 4 and Victoria 4 are just skins for the outfits Courageous and Valiant. Those outfits I have never been able to get onto Genesis 3 or Genesis 8 successfully.
Thanks for watching. I don't see how that is possible with this plugn. I believe that it does work with the diffeomorphic daz importer. ua-cam.com/video/qUR1LGA-A8Y/v-deo.html
Well I get comments all the time that I talk too slow and also thanking me for not talking too fast. So it is really up to the viewer. Viewers do have the option of changing the playback speed. Happy Easter.
To each their own. People have different levels of experience and some need a step by step and a general review of the product. Daz Studio does in fact have a video on just how to install the plugin (< 3mins). If that fulfilled all requirements/questions, none of the other videos on the subject would get much traffic.
Another awesome Daz Plugin is the Face Transfer plug. You can sometimes catch it on sale for about $10. ua-cam.com/video/D3EpWG_6eac/v-deo.html
Wow! Now it's an official plugin? AWESOME!! thank you for covering this W3!
Thanks for watching. I'm glad this was released.
