Good to see you pumped and excited. Yea it's your job but come on, it needs to be fun. Congrats maybe some momentum shifting your way. All the best sir.
Wow, what a tournament. So glad you caught some, had a good time and finished in the money. Never saw a dice let alone fished one. May try a treble hook with the dice like a catfish dough bait??? Also rig a double dice with 2 treble hooks about an inch apart...Around here when it gets 100 degrees, plum is the only color. Thanks for taking us along.
You know, I thought about trying a treble hook for the last day. I had them out and experimented with different ways to hook the bait with the treble. Ultimately I didn't do it. I will be experimenting with it in coming days of fun fishing back in Minnesota.
I once fished as a AAA co and loved it. Curious if you saw any pros running 18’ boats there, I’d love to try the US Open on the pro side but not sure my boat is big enough.
I make my own Dice baits too....Senko with heavy salt cut in pieces makes good Dice too.....also pull 1/2 strands thru your "billy" craw. Sounds like a great tournament! Way to survive loosing some keepers. Great job of getting on the fish!!
hey Jim, I have heard that we should not use a wide gap hooks while drop shoting. My question is would it be a better choice to use a straight shank instead? It would be a possible solution to reduce the missed fish. Your thoughts.
@@moynaghbassfishes3818 This is a little off topic but (test your memory banks) do you remember the old Lowrance fish finders that used a (not paper graph) or (not a flasher). I had a unit on my old Stratos and it would show different shapes of fish such as sheephead (oval), bass (elongated) walleye ( elongated and larger than bass). The best part was this unit could locate bass that were very close to the bottom of the river, stream, or lake. It used a technology that was similar to the paper graphs. I have been racking my brain to remember the unit because I want to get another one! This unit was before the "HOOK" came out and before those fish representations. Thanks Bill Williams
That wasn't crazy bad, ended up with some cash. I also have been making the dice, but using an EWG 3 hook and using the self-made Ben Millican bait keeper and a rubber band weed guard.
Do you think more tournaments should be like the Won bass tournaments and the old minnesota Silverado's with shared weight? Or is the way the opens and bfls a better way to it?
I really enjoy this format for the US Open. But when qualifications are at stake for moving up to the Elites or the BPT, then the pro angler needs to be responsible for catching his own bass.
Yes. And I was thinking about how I would do it the night before the 3rd day. But eventually I decided not do go through with it. In coming days, I will be trying it.
Take a screw lock and screw it all the way in. Then you can skin hook the bait with the hook going through the eye of the screw lock. It saves a bunch of dice. You can also use Core tackles wacky shot
I’ve lost smallmouth on a tube, when they bite down on the lure, but you never get a good hook in there mouth because they are just clamping down on the bait, and they end up spitting the bait
@@moynaghbassfishes3818 You need active target 2 in forward and perspective mode watching your vid with the dice your target separation is awful you will eliminate alot of fuzz off bottom
Jim 😂this is the best video it’s definitely on my bucket list for next year and I will be bringing some fuzzy dice 🎲 😂 congratulations my friend
I hope to see you there!
👍I’ll bring the Dice
Hard work and being a good teammate pays off!
🙂👍
Thanks. I enjoy your videos.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoy them.

Nice work Jim. Safe travels
🙂👍
Congrats Jim !
🙂👍
Thumbs up great videos
🙂👍
Nice finish Jim. A nice surprise to get two checks at the banquet!
It was a wonderful surprise!

Thereay have been one or two that size.
Jesse marquesz owns Locos tacos in Lake Havasu. He is a big supporter of bass fishing tournaments on the west coast
I met he and his wife after the awards banquet. They are great people!

Could you maybe use a screw lock through the home made dice and run the hook through to save baits? If you were using senko maybe a band?
Those are ideas that I will be experimenting with.
Congrats on the good news. You should try a video on how you make those dice. I bet it does really well. I know I will be watching.
Yes, I am planning on it.

If you have a meaty chunk of plastic, then a wide gap hook is a good option.

Great video and congrats on a good finish. Can you please do some videos in the off season? Maybe one a week or something.
Thank you! I will be posting throughout the off-season.

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to look at that.
Good job man. You putting that dice on a dropshot?
Yes
@@moynaghbassfishes3818 I going to try a straight shank neko hook on it.
Hey Jim where’s a good place to stay if they have it back at Mohave
The Edgewater Casino has the best boat yard.
I’m sorry Jim I’m going as a amateur on a few first👍trying figure out how to get the rods without getting them broken lol
We need a video on how you made the dice
Coming soon

Could you use a treble hook.?
I am going to experiment with one.
What gave you the idea to use the dice?
An amateur the previous year at Mohave had caught a couple on it.
Are you allowed to use a treble hook? It may give you a better landing ratio
Yes. And I was thinking about how I would do it the night before the 3rd day. But eventually I decided not do go through with it. In coming days, I will be trying it.
A body from a grub bait might work too. Like a 4” grub body 👍
🙂👍
What did 35 place pay? What did coangler get?
$1600 for me, which was the entry fee. I don't recall what the am got, but perhaps equal to their entry fee too.

I do the same thing with a screw lock. Works great.
I will experiment with that. Thanks!

That makes sense.
Did I see floro mainline, to a swivel, to florocarbon leader? Why not use braid? You'll stick the fish better on a long cast
You saw correctly.
Try a hitchhiker on those dice Jim.
I will. Another person commented the same thing.
So you and your co angler fished the dice
Only my 3rd day amateur tried using it the final day. He hooked up one time with it.
@@moynaghbassfishes3818 I guess I’ll be making some dice
upgrade bro you it will put more fish the in boat
