FINALLY, someone sings this song as a beautiful ballad instead of a race to get the words out as quickly as possible. I've waited for this a long time.
I've heard and performed this piece for more than 30 years; but this is the best recorded version. Perhaps it is because the words stand out so clearly. It is like a later day version of "Turn, turn, turn."
This is only my new favorite version of this song or to put it in some better terms whoo wee now that was some mighty fine picking an sanging !!!! It feels good to see a group of nobodies like this remake a classic and present it in an manner that sounds professionally done !!!! Come on people you know that the people doing this song are world famous I was just pulling some leg with my comment
"I believe that's the prettiest song I ever heard" (TAGS) By far the best version I've ever heard other than The Darlings. Is this version available on CD?
Bluegrass and country is music where old people shine. That's not meant in offense, just that it doesn't have the pretensions of rock or other forms of pop, and good thing too. Those are cults of delusional youth, this is music that echoes through generations. Legacy, family, blood and roots, that's a connection other music can't get a hold on. Classical is great in a grand sense as well, but not like this. Music of the common people.
i'm a metal head; i root down in prog and fusion; HUGE Zappaphile; it's refreshing to bring it back to basics.. simple structure- exceptionally executed! 🤣🤘🖖
Song was written to be sad and contemplative...very original to try and make it sound even more like a bummer (sarcasm). The Dillard’s sung it in a faster tempo so as to not make the audience want to drink and cry....it’s called entertainment, knuckle heads.
I've heard this song done 1000 different ways and this one is by far the best!!
best version of this song I've heard. everyone else does it too fast
To be fair, the original was written with a faster tempo. Wanted to hear a slow version too though. Makes the words heavier.
Yeah this is a perfect pace. Reminds me a lot of a Blue Highway arrangement.
Awesome. Nice to hear it a bit slower to appreciate the words. Instruments are wonderful.
Andy Griffith doesn't.
I believe Briscoe and the boys would be proud, great job guys!!!
Simply beautiful. I love the slower tempo. It suits the song well.
Just very nice. Superb musicianship. Imagine, just one Microphone in the middle. Nothing is overplayed. I love it.
Herb Pedersen (on the banjo) played with the Dillards. Hearing Jon Randall sing this is exquisite.
Also with Chris Hillman and the Desert Rose Band
He also wrote “Wait a minute” made famous by Seldom Scene
I went through several versions of this song before finding this one and then listened to it at least 10 times. By far the best.
One of all time best songs especially hearing the banjo 🪕❤
Ain't no grass like BLUEGRASS.
That man on the mandolin is shreddin
John Jorgensen is a phenomenal multi-instrumentalist! Quite possibly my favorite musician alive
So many great renditions of this song!
Tight and smooth harmonies. Love this guys.

"No paw, that makes me cry"
Somewhere, Sheriff Andy Taylor is smiling
Nothing beats the original, but this is a close second.
Other than Maggie's this is my favorite version. Awesome.

Roots run deep; even if you didn't know you needed them.
Yep. Played at the right tempo and what incredible harmony. I only wish the lead was a female.
Old people rock!!!
Guy on banjo looks a little like Clapton, old slow hand
mule sez----sing it Charlene Bricoe---mrs. Dud Wash--

Sounds great but it does need to be sped up.
