Florence sang with Shirley but also with Barbara Cook (1927-2017) another great Broadway soprano who played on Broadway a role Shirley Jones did in the movies Marian in The Music Man .Both Shirley and Florence played Laurey in Oklahoma. In fact both were the finalists as Laurey in the 1955 movie and although only Florence had played the role on stage with Barbara as Ado Annie Shirley was cast in the movie and later played Laurey in an European tour when she met her future husband Jack Cassidy(1927-1976). Florence and Barbara sang with John Raitt, who also made a screen test as Curly but Gordon Mc Rae was cast, some Oklahoma musical numbers in an Ed Sullivan show at the same time when the movie opened in 1955. Shirley is the only alive at 88 of these three marveleus sopranos and actresses .
