I honestly think that the movie as a whole is pretty good. There are some issues here and there but ultimately, my biggest gripe of the movie is Raya. The concept of who Raya is and what she is capable of is compelling and could make a really badass female character. I just don't think they did Raya justice.

@@PazuzuDeamon4horsemen Well, the visuals/animations are top notch. The audio is really good. The movements of most of the characters are fine. The story is what needs work though.

To be honest, Namaari being an old school disney villain would've been cool.

OMG I was about to write this!

And hopefully, they can find out the whole story as to why the movie went exclusively to Disney+ and not even a hybrid release. Some people believe COVID/Omicron was more of an excuse for pulling in more subscribers. I'm guessing the box office flop of Encanto had something to do with it but I'd like to be sure. I just hope they had a really good reason for this move other than just wanting streaming to be the new normal for movies. By the way, apparently Raya entirely skipped the theatrical release in some European countries like Germany and Italy (i think it's the very first film from Walt Disney Feature Animation to do so apart from a few package films).

Another thing, Raya and the Last Dragon of course has to do with dragons. And while the water portion of Kumandra on its map at 1:13 does look like a dragon, so does the outline of the northern part of the Earth Kingdom. You can also see similarities with water separating the parts of the Earth Kingdom from each other.
I love the animations and characters of this movie. I liked everything about Raya And The Last Dragon. Awesome Disney movie.
I really just don't like how inconsistent and badly executed the "trust" theme is. The theme in Raya (if it counts as a theme) is more like "trust everyone blindly" but it should've been 'grow trust naturally". The animation and characters are top-notch though. I just think everyone, including Raya and Sisu, should've "learned a lesson", not just Raya.
No mention of Alan Tudyk as Tuk-Tuk?!
Of course disney changed the meaning of Dep La from strangely beautiful to best friend, they avoid lgbt rep in their films like the plague. Raya and Luca had given me hope, but they both were just bait.

@@Freezient Yes, I am all for Raya not getting with Namaari at the very end as that would be toxic, I am for however an ending that implies that there is romance in the future. And Luca was the gayest film I have ever seen, but disney is too terrified to take the final step in actually saying it.
I still don't support Raya & Namaari as a couple.😕
Namaari DID cause Raya six years of trust issues, and still has six years to make up for her betrayal (and killing Sisu).
Plus, it would be toxic to fall for someone who really messed up after so many years, after accomplishing one thing together.
You have a point but lets wait for the second movie to see whether namaari doesn't go back to her traitor ways

This movie should have had more time in the oven, I love the predesigns of it and I wish they worked on it more. I have so many problems with it
I agree. The movie is visually stunning, and the worldbuilding is great. But there are some serious weaknesses like the con-baby, the occasional awkwardly improvised line by Awkwafina, and the theme of trust being ruined by the fact that Namari DID have plenty of chances to prove herself trustworthy and proved otherwise every time until the end. Raya was not the issue. Her defenses were up, but she learned to trust the people from the other regions. She didn’t trust Namari because Namari was untrustworthy!

@@delaneydespain992 Hey! The con-baby was genuinely funny! Besides, we've already have animated films with enough monkeys doing comedic antics like The Jungle Book, The Rugrats Movie and Rio. We don't need the Ongis, or Southeast Asian moneys, being comedic sidekicks.
The fact that those flowers has a deleted scene that makes me so inspiring.

You missed the fact that Raya’s hat is inspired by the Salakot: a traditional hat in the Philippines
Raya messed up big time on the dragon design. The naga of southeast asia looks powerful and magestic (just google it) with big horns that resembles fire. This is bery chinese influenced design
My favourite fact was that KMT built a recording studio in a wardrobe to record her lines from home. I love this movie.
Young raya's stealth outfit looks similar to kitana from mortal kombat.

sisu is unbearable and i really hate how they went about the theme of trust/forgiveness on top of the major cultural flubs, but i genuinely love raya as a character. i'm bummed she doesn't get included but the movie definitely has a lot against it lol. the score is also beautiful - running on raindrops/return are so strong, i hate that they're wasted here and on that blue menace 😩

i really really wish that they had decided to keep the movie more dark and graphic, it would have felt more authentic, but its a disney movie so i guess it has to be safe for kids **disappointment**
