People commenting here about the credit which is to be given to congress govt, first of all the project was started by Abv ( BJP ) govt. & it was termed as project of national importance by his govt only. Uske baad Jakar pehle check karo ki konsa route geographically sabse challenging tha is poore USBRL network main ( which was Katra - Banihal section ), the then congress govt. ne 2007-2008 main us particular route ko "not feasible due to environmental clearance" decalre kar diya tha usi time. Katra tak rail banana was easy as same as in valley. The main challenge was Katra Banihal section. The govt completed it in 10 years out of which 3 years are wasted due to covid ( workers strike + non locals went to their cities ) otherwise the deadline was 2022 August at 75 years of independence. Then again this year in feb 2024 there was a leakage in tunnel t33 which resulted in further delay. Its better to delay things than to compromise with our engineers safety.
One govt. declared it "Not feasible" to get away from resposibility, the other one tried to take matter in their hand. Judge for yourself.
I am not againt any govt. here but atleast people should know the facts before commenting any thing rubbish.

As if modi himself constructed the bridge😂😂😂😂the chenab bridge construction ecological report was again presented before congress and the Congress gvt approved this project after the same bridge's construction proposal was cancelled due to ecological survey by geologists...this particular bridge and so many other roads proposed to be constructed in this particular Himalayan belt are still ecologically vulnerable and non tenable...Besides,the influx of non locals,their culture is a concern....

@WinterSpring-qj5hv "as If modi himself constructed" so easy to laugh and say such things then by the same logic after mumbai attack why our govt. didn't avenge those killings, as if manmohan himself had to attack on border. These are all just childish theatrics. As for the feasibility report, the construction work on katra banihal started again in 2015 itself after the govt. inaugurated the delhi katra route.
