I am in my early 70's. I grew up being a huge Barbra Streisand fan. After listening to Lucy's cover of Evergreen, I went back and listened to Barbra's performance of the song. After hearing both back to back, Lucy sounds better to me. I say that without any intention to lessen Barbra Streisand's greatness. I just like the sound of Lucy's voice better.

As undeniably amazing as Streisand was her tone had a habit of going nasaly which Lucy's does not and she has a far more pure and clean vibrato.
I think that both did a wonderful job. Barbra's version is more delicate. Lucy's is more modern and belted, but both versions are beautiful.
@@spackar2720 I agree with your assessment with the exception that I don't think Barbra's version is more delicate. In fact I think Lucy's version is more delicate and pure. As great as she was, Barbra always tended to sing a little on the nasal side. But that is my opinion.

Lucy is the best. She is pure and genuine. Lucy does not need to use any gimmicks or flaunt her body. Her voice is gold. And her inner and natural outer beauty is a rarity in the world today. She is a phenomenal vocalist oozing with talent that is destined to take her to the stars. I think with Lucy we’re seeing the “musical treasure” of the century!. She captures us with her purity, beauty, clarity and uniqueness.
Barbra was in her thirties when she recorded this song. Lucy just eighteen! and her tone is unbelievable. It's difficult to imagine what Lucy's voice will sound like when she's in her thirties. Hope I live long enough to witness it. Nice reaction by the way. More Lucy Thomas please.

Lucy is undoubtedly one of the best female singers in the world today. I highly recommend either her cover of Whitney Huston's "Run To You" or the duet with her 5 year younger sister Martha "The Prayer." I guarantee that any Lucy Thomas video is well worth watching as she can sing almost any style of music perfectly. 😊👍

Lucy in her own right is talent off the scale but, she also has a younger sister called Martha who for her young age just as extremely gifted as a singer. They have done various recordings which are just so amazing from their voices together, it is melody music heaven. Two sisters who by these alone have a great bond and just as said so good singing together, definitely check out 1 of their performances together also.

Lucy is from Wigan, England she has been singing from a young age and was a contestant on the voice kids UK. Lucy has a variation of songs on here ranging from modern classics to classics from musicals such as West side story and Cats her version of Memory from Cats amazes me that not more people have reacted to it. Lucy also sings with her younger sister Martha on songs such as the prayer you raise me up Mary did you know and even some Miley Cyrus with the climb be ready though for their stunning harmonies they will make your goose bumps get goose bumps. 😄

Wow, you finally found the Lucy Thomas rabbit hole. Expect to be inundated with Lucy fans likes and comments, along with lots of info on Lucy. She has about 70 songs on her channel and the play she is starring in late this year, called Rosie, in London, England. She is almost 20, and is from Wigan, England, and has had over 190 million views on her UA-cam channel..

There are so many highly impressive songs from Lucy, who will have her 20th birthday in a few days, but you really should next try one of the duets she sings with her little sister Martha. Lucy is stunning,this is not a favourite song of mine,but Lucy makes me want to listen to it,she is world class!, next try her rendition of 'A whiter shade of pale' or her recent release of 'Hallelujah' from her first major live performance at the Stoller hall in Manchester, this was the final song of 17 sung as her oncore!.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Lucy Thomas, Wigan's finest and arguably the best young female singer on the planet.I only say 'arguably' because her younger sister Martha might be even better. Mum Louise is absolutely no slouch either. My favourite is all 3 of them on Smile, originally recorded for Mothers Day. Or try Lucy and Martha on The Prayer - totally stunning.
As good as Martha is she's nothing more then a nice accompaniment to Lucy's other worldly talent and the same goes for Louise. Sorry but nobody comes close to being as good as Lucy but that doesn't mean they aren't decent singers in their own right, there's no shame in coming 2nd best to one of the most beautiful voices in music history.
@@adamknight7041 calling Martha nothing more than a nice accompaniment is frankly insulting. I saw the brilliant live concert in Manchester and the highlight of that show was the two songs that the sisters sang together. Factoring in that Martha is five years younger, you're massively underestimating her potential.
@@jontuson2078 Jontuson and I agree 100 % with you !!! Martha knows she is not in Lucy's league for Gawds sake Martha is 5 years and 8 months younger than Lucy and always will be !!! Martha for 14 has a beautiful voice and she needs encouraging not bad mouthing !!!! Why do we think martha has not recorded a solo ???? to not be compared to Lucy. Unless some one has raise two girls, Like We have, 4 years apart, you do not under stand the girl dynamic. yes the younger will look up to and follow the older but most will choose NOT to compete with the older sister, they will find something else to do to excell in the older sister does not do. Martha chose her horse and to ride and she is an outstanding rider, something Lucy is not and Lucy does NOT ride.!!!! Also we have only seen one recording with Louise and does anyone think Louise would go out and try and show up her girls ????NO !!! And that was evident in he one song louise was VERY reserved. You can see Louise and Lucy singing together in he car by themselves on Twitter or one of Lucys other social media and Louise was BELTING the song out !!! But they were alone and not recording and she has some power. but in smile she was very reserved. a superb mother ear looking out for her girls !!!

Incidentally, there have been four cinematic versions of _A Star Is Born._ The first was with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March from 1937. The second starred Judy Garland and James Mason in 1954. The third had Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson and came out in 1976. Finally, the fourth featured Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in 2018. Barbara Streisand was thirty five when she reccorded Evergreen. Lucy was just nineteen. Lucy's smooth warm tone and with her fabulous vibrato makes it an extremely pleasing experience to the ear. Barbara, though a good singer had that nasal tone as did Celine Dion which to my ear is a little irritating.

Biased - maybe. But we all love our favourite singers and don’t want them replaced by newbies. There will only be one Barbra Streisand even though I wasn’t her fan, but I know what you mean as Lucy also covers most of the great legends such as Etta James, Elaine Paige, Bette Midler, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, etc, etc, even Elvis. Difficult to accept somebody better, and we will always compare Lucy doing a cover song. Personally I prefer new artists to sing their own new songs - which Lucy does, but I cannot deny Lucy is special. The amazing thing about Lucy is the she’s not just as good or better than one great, but many!
A good thing overlooked is Lucy singing Streisand’s songs is rekindling interest in Barbra, like now with Lulu. She’s listened and like this by Lucy so has interest to go look Barbra’s. Which is also actually earning Streisand more income. Plus also Barbra has finished her singing so she needs young Lucy to continue her songs.

I think the third with Barbra was maybe the best, but all before my time, but Gregory what about the most recent movie? Lucy was professional at 13 but have a listen to Lucy when 15 years old singing from the last movie remake of A Star Is Born.

I suspect most here have seen the original with Babs. All credit to Barbra writing the song and making it a hit. Lucy’s now continuing the song for Barbra. Never heard of you three before, tuned in because you were playing Lucy Thomas, I am a long time follower and supporter of Lucy Thomas and her Younger sister Martha, with that being said I find it a real TURN OFF when you supposible reacting to Lucy and you spend most of your time grandma talking about Streisand. your were reacting to Lucy Thomas NOT Streisand, we all know Streisand she is history now, Lucy is NOW and all the songs Lucy has covered of all the "name" singers she has Crushed !!!! I would suggest when reacting to ANY singer react to them and not anyone else whose song they may have also sung. MY thoughts. I note that there is at least one reactor that no longer reacts to Lucy, I wonder if that could be because of WF's critical comments. And by the way WF, Streisand happens to be one of Lucy's favourite singers. I think it's great that in this reaction we have 3 generations hearing Lucy for the first time, and I will encourage them to go down the rabbit-hole rather than critise them..
