      Just a thought for a new pact would be the pact of the dragon or you could make a subclass for dragon sorta like sorcerer but different. Maybe incorporate that with the talisman just like hexblade and pact of the blade. Sorta like a dragon gave you amulet/ talisman that allowed them to dip into the dragon if power of an dragon. But instead of a Brest weapon you morph into a humanoid dragon sorta like fairy tail.

      And maybe sorta like genie the dragon type effects your nature like fire is more of a fighter while air is more of a supporter

    Warlock + rogue assassin: Have the talismen sent to your target as a gift or tribute. If they put it on, you can teleport right behind them and backstad them.

      They're also really fun as one of the few familiar that fit the theme of the great old one which is ancient alien knowledge so literally having a child of one of the most alien of beings the beholder in which the gazer is born from a beholder's dreams (also your pact could literally be with a beholder (mainly since it doesn't actually take much to be powerful enough to be a patron since the unicorn which has a pretty low CR score can be a patron)

    I know this is technically a feat, but THANK YOU SO MUCH for Eldritch Adept! It has made warlocking at least a little easier. Now plz fix it so I can finally choose an Eldritch Invocation instead of having to write it down in my notes.

    The warlock in my party, her patron is a unicorn. They gave her a lock of its mane to shape into anything. She made it a ring that magically adjusts its size to the wearer.

    You know I think a pretty nice Invocation for pact of the chain would be that at 5th lv a warlock with pact of the chain can add an extra die to their familiar's hit die pool equal to the warlocks total level and if a familiar would go down in battle once a long rest a warlock as a reaction to seeing their familiar die can expend their warlock hit die + their con mod (1d8+con) up to their Charisma mod and roll their hit die leaving their familiar at the total of what they rolled.
    It could be called "Endurance Of The Chain Masters"
    (for example purposes we'll use sprite since it only has 1 hit die) so if a sprite was a familiar for a warlock that was lv 5 as is the prerequisite the Sprite would have a total of hit die equal to 6 for a hit die pool of 6d4 with an average hp of 12 (if a familiar started with a hit die like 2d4 or 3d4 nothing would change and they would still gain the same amount of hit die so a familiar with 2d4 as their base would have 7d4 when a warlock is 5th lv)

    I'm imagining a Talisman that is an old shoe. Your party member can gain it's power, but at the price of having mismatched shoes.

    For Investment of the chain master I think you keep until maybe 5th level and then you trade it out for voice. Since the familiar's health still isn't going up per level having it attack is super risky after a while even if you can grant it resistance since even the 4 "special types" typically top out at around 7 health. So an opponent hits for more than 14 damage and it doesnt matter if you can give your pet resistance, that is 100 gold down the pooper.

    I think that if you have any eay of healing your party, gift of the protector should be used on the healer and on the squishiest allies. A fighter, or a monk, who delve into the heat of the fight, may go unconscious more than once a battle. But one healing spell, or a potion, and they're back to their feet like nothing happened. The squishiest ones, like casters and healers, should be protected the most because:
    A) if the healer dies, the difficulty immediately shoots up
    B) if casters go unconscious, concentration spells that might be determining the outcome of a fight drop.
    So if I had that invocation, I'd use it only on the 2/3 people that you REALLY don't want to go unconscious. Even if I could target maybe a couple more

    I imagine that the pact of the talisman would be given to someone who made their pact to save someone's life. Then if the originally saved person does not need it or dies anyway, the talisman is used to save or aid others.

    At lvl 14 a GOOlock can trall a person of interests and give them the talisman so they can teleport to them at any time.
    Book of Shadows i would roleplay that as my character learning how to make deals like a devil or the patron becomes connected to every person who writes there name in it.

    It's good to see Animate Dead be made available via the Undying Servitude Invocation, but the way this invocation was designed could have been a lot better.
    I can understand R&D not wanting the Warlock class to be able to break the spell, however, the Warlock is a short-rest caster, mechanically speaking, and having an invocation based on long rests, tends to hamstring how the character plays at Tier 3 and beyond.
    But rather than sit here and criticise it, however, here are some ideas on how to improve it:
    1. Make it Subclass Restrictive. Currently, the only Warlock subclass that deals with the undead is The Pact of the Undying Patron, and that subclass is considered among the weakest of all subclasses. Making this invocation Subclass/Patron-specific, while giving it the ability to be short-rest castable, would not only add some flavor to the subclass but would mechanically augment it immensely.
    2. Give it a Power-Up Option. The Pact of the Blade pact boon feature offers a working example of what could be possibly done with this invocation.
    In the case of Improved Pact Weapon, there were two other UA Invocations (Superior Pact Weapon and Ultimate Pact Weapon) that offered an improvement to the Invocation.
    In that same vein, allowing the Warlock an opportunity to power-up the invocation would be an immense boon for it. For example, this invocation could be what you get starting out at 5th level, but then at some point between 9th and 12th levels, this Invocation could either have a replacement option (replacing the current invocation), or could have a power-up option by taking a 2nd Invocation, dependent on still having the first invocation, to allow the Warlock the ability to cast it 1x per short rest.
    3. A Hard Upper-Limit Cap Restriction. This invocation could be redesigned to have an upper limit cap restriction on the max number of undead the Warlock could have at any one time so that the Warlock could, at the very most, rival the Necromancer at Tier 3/4 gameplay, without surpassing it.
    This is more of a brute force way of keeping the Warlock in check, but at least it gives the Warlock Player the feel that they're at least somewhat close to playing a Necromancer.

      @@adamkaris sure you could but you could allso use that invocation as a tome, medalion or chain lock, do more damage at a safe distance and be less MAD. I had hoped for blade invocations that either buffed the playstyle or gave them more intresting power-adjacent options

    • @lucasramey6427
      @lucasramey6427 3 роки тому +1

      @ I'm hoping for a chain Invocation that raises the hit die amount of a familiar to make them slightly more durable that goes off the warlock's lv so if they had 5 lv's in warlock a familiar who started with a base of 2d4 for their hit die would have 7d4 for their hit die and to go along it being able to once a long rest expend warlock hit dice (1d8 + your con mod) up to their Charisma mod as a reaction to seeing your familiar die bring it back at the amount of hp you rolled at (so if you used 5 hit die and rolled all 1's with a Constitution of 16 (+3) the familiar would be brought back at 20 hp
      Main reason for the idea is because if you take investment of the chain master and if (when) your familiar goes down (usually because it got hit once) then the Invocation you currently have is useless and when you go to resummon them as a ritual it will take 70 minutes time you may not have

    The new Tome Invocations feel like they REALLY suit a Celestial Patron...especially that ability that restores allies to 1HP on fatal blows.
    I envision a holy aura that surrounds them and restores them to life.
    Conversely, the new Talisman Invocations can be pretty flexible in what they "are" and "how" they do their thing...an Archey can be a flower necklace or head wreath, which summons a whirling gust of rose petals when they activate...or for a genie, their chosen element swirls around the target to teleport them...or the spectral hand of the genie pushes an enemy away with the rebuke feature.

    I'm going to be honest, they made the subclasses garbage. They nerfed them so hard it gave no incentive to buy the book. If you want the book just read the UA 2020. You'll get everything and it will actually be some what useful for players who want a unique playstyle

    • @benry007
      @benry007 4 роки тому +3

      I think the book is at about the right level. Some of the UA was way OP. I'm glad they nerded some of it. The bit I was annoyed about was the nerf to the ranger improvements. The favored foe ability is garbage, it does next to nothing and uses your concentration. Also flavour wise is means nothing.
