BTS' birthday is coming up next on June 13th, but they give us 2 weeks of daily content leading up to the bday called FESTA.
My wish for Yoongi this year is the he gets to hold/ caress a grammy trophy.💜
I especially love coming back to this song after the recent eras (Shadow, Suga's Interlude, Daechwita) where he talks about realizing all these dreams and just how cold and scary it really is at the top. Back when Agust D came out, he was still the brash, angry young man spitting out his frustration and ambition through this hardcore lyrical bravado. He wanted to be a rap star, he wanted to be the top. He wanted to be a rock star. He wanted it ALL HIS. He wanted to be rich, he wanted to be the king. He wanted to go win. He wanted a big house, big cars, and big rings. Seven years later, when Map of the Soul 7 came out (actually sooner, because the poem he wrote for and read to the guys in Run Ep 56 was of a similar theme, and that was 2018), he HAS all of those things, and a lot of his music from that time period reflects his thoughts about, "Okay, I'm here. What now? Why is it so scary? Do I really want to be here? Do I still love what I do? I feel like my shadow is swallowing me whole and I'm turning into a monster."
One of the things I love so much about BTS is having the honor of watching them grow as people and as artists.
Oh Roscoe, your face when you realized it was all the members singing Daechwita! Loved it! V and J-Hope's bits are my favourites. It must have been a really weird concert for them - live but no one there because of the pandemic. Fans on screens just can't possibly give them the same energy, but they did so well. I think you'll love IDOL when you get there. 💜💜 P.S. Thanks for celebrating the awesomeness that is Min Yoongi!

I’ve been to the theatre yesterday to watch the concert and it was AMAZING!! Yes, they did perform Black Swan, and yes, everyone in the theatre was literally SCREAMING💜🤪
PTD live Black Swan is probably the most breathtakingly beautiful thing I’ve ever seen on stage for any performer in Pop Culture up there with MJ’s and Madge in production, choreography and sheer artistry.

I love that you watched the OT7 version of Daechwita when you were well into your cups! We all went crazy the first time we saw it, and V tied in the ropes became a meme called Taechwita. He was everywhere for days afterward. So much fun! There is also an OT7 version of Chicken Noodle soup. The vocal line loves getting a chance to rap.
My first bias! Yoongi is such a stunning rapper. His voice, tone, flow, his producing and writing skill. So much talent in one person. Of all BTS discography, I listen to his mixtapes the most. His music makes you want to conquer every challenge.

If you want a contrast of this is First Love or So Far Away, please. I can't wait until you watch them. As I mentioned in my other comments, First Love makes me cry. Thanks for the Suga bday vid 🥰 I hope he watches this haha, his english isn't as bad as he pretends sometimes 😆 And omg, I'm just the same as you, I don't listen to lyrics either 😆. Even when it's in english. I listen to songs for the sound of it, lyrics have almost zero importance to me...the sound of the song affects me more than words could ever. That's why I listen to songs of all languages and I never look up the translations haha. If it weren't for these reactions, I'd never even know what BTS songs are actually talking about cause I would never feel the need to look it up myself. I've been classically trained in music since a very young age, and I listened to a lot of classical, modern classical and especially film soundtracks. So my ears are just used to listening for the sounds, rather than meaning of words. But anyway, nice to find another person who listens to music in a similar fashion as me 😆
By the way, I think Baepsae isn't really a "big" song, it's just a very popular one, but it's not connected to the BU or anything. It doesn't even have a music video. You can do lyrics, dance practice, then DKDKTV explanation (for the cultural references), then the stage mix live performance is cool too.
Also, on the topic of Suga, BTS recently came out with a song called Stay Alive. It's a Suga produced song, sung by Jungkook. Suga is also the primary composer and songwriter for it. Really fantastic song in my opinion. It's actually a song for the BTS webtoon, which you don't need to dive into to listen to the song. You can just hear it as a standalone song by itself, without the context of the webtoon. They released a promo video with a shortened version of the song, it's got some cool visuals that pertain to the webtoon. You can watch the promo vid first, and again, just take it at face value, don't worry about the webtoon:

Yoongi definitely has an aggressive and braggadocious side as Agust D (and we love it) but he's also very raw, open and introspective, and there're are actually more of those types of songs on his mixtapes than aggressive tracks. I hope you will get to those at some point to give your perspective some balance and see what I think is the real him -- The Last, So Far Away, People, Moonlight, 28. I don't remember if he told us what D-2 means. When it was released, it was a surprise. Just a little time before he was asked about a second mixtape during a V Live stream and he said we shouldn't wait for it. But suddenly, there was a countdown on Twitter with days D-7 D-6 and so on. It was only D-n and a blurred and garbled black and gray image. They usually do those countdowns before a release or an event, but it was unannounced so ARMY was full of theories. When the countdown reached D-2, the mixtape and Daechwita MV were released. And the image was clear. It was a snapshot from Daechwita when Yoongi is tied up
