ABOUT THE VOICE
The four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" returns as Queen of Country Reba McEntire claims her red chair alongside last season's champ, Niall Horan, and returning superstar coaches John Legend and Gwen Stefani as they vie to discover and coach the next singing phenomenon.
The show's innovative format features five stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs and Live Performance Shows.
This season, the block returns to the Blind Auditions, and during Battles, each coach will have two steals to use. The Three-Way Knockouts are also back. This time, however, artists will select their own songs to perform.
Once the Live Performance Shows begin, the top artists will compete against each other weekly during a live broadcast. This time, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and receive the grand prize of a recording contract.

It never ceases to amazing me how many incredibly talented singers there are out there trying to get a shot. That was fantastic!
Right. And these are 1) just the ones that tried this avenue and 2) made it past producers etc. SOOO much talent out there.
Especially since a lot of singers that are popular really can't sing that well IMO!
@sdarms111doug9 Because karaoke specialists are a dime a dozen. They have no leverage with the label. Kate Bush who wrote this, composed her first hit at 13 years of age and signed at 16, with full copyright ownership and artistic control over her work. EMI records wanted her more than she wanted them.

@@sdarms111doug9 The term might sound insulting, but it's not meant to be. It's simply a fact. Did he write the Broadway musicals? The producers are going to fire the singer before they fire the composer. It's been done before. The business is cruel.

How is he over singing? He’s showing off his range, vocal agility, and projection. That’s the whole point of an audition. He had the best audition yet by far.

Usher has a relatively new song that samples a Prince song, and he’s in falsetto the whole time - I can’t stand it! It’s so strained and screechy. This, on the other hand, was beautiful 🤩. And he sang with feeling.
@@brynneholt1990 Seems like the dudes can't match Kate Bush's naturally high register without resorting to falsetto. I agree. A chest or head voice would be more pleasing to the ear. Kate, and I believe Maxwell both hit a D#4 on this song. Kate's been recorded at F6.
My introduction to DJ was through VoicePlay and he just keeps getting better and better. He's the king of falsetto runs.

Immediate chills in 10 seconds😳! He handled one of the hardest songs to ever sing with ease and control! He ate that up and left no crumbs!
That was a masterclass in vocals. The way he began with the high falsetto, then later decided to mix belt those same notes and higher, with runs 🤯.
Also, loved how he showed a couple moments in his chest voice because he has a lot of power and richness there too! Just a rude performance 😂. He’s gonna be a threat. Team Legend is already looking strong!

Phenomenal. A notoriously difficult song to sing with so much of it being in a high false, even harder to execute well while ALSO making it your own. Really cool and engaging changes to the melody, smart choices for when to switch register and build dynamics, great showmanship and stage presence. No notes. A, if not THE front-runner at the moment.
Maxwell and Aloe Blacc (Mushroom on The Masked Singer show) both sang this cover so beautifully different. And this guy expands on that.
