What kind of a man leaves his sister and her children in abject poverty, depriving his sister of what’s rightfully hers, when he is so rich? It’s pure greed and evil.
Women aren't any better. My grandmother hid her sister from her daughter and 2 generations later we learned about it. We have a family cousins uncles nephews that we never knew about simply because one woman didn't approve of her sister's husband ! We were contacted a few years ago to know if we were interested in artifacts that a Museum no longer wanted to pay to keep in storage ????? We learnt about art that belonged to our family but had been kept from us.
My brother did this recently, but I will be alright. The kind of man that does this has no co.passion or empathy. The kind that does are machiavellian NPD personality.
Interesting Canada Trust could not recover any documents that had to with Norma's share in the estate , but were able to find two documents with her signature. It would have been easy to match the signatures to other documents Norma would have signed during those years . The rules are set-up in favor of the wealthy banks . Hopefully on appeal the family will get their mother's inheritance.
She did know she had an inheritance- but her brother told her she got nothing so she believed him. I have learned from my own family issues in this to always ask for a copy of the will personally
It is beyond shameful how the Trust Co. "Lost" vital documents on this family's behalf & was not held accountable! I pray that their appeal wins & they receive some type of appropriate financial compensation.
I agree, but surely the Trust Co (now Bank) should be penalised for not fulfilling their fiduciary role in maintaining records, and acting accordingly, when they took over part of the Estate. It's blatant fraud from both George and his beneficiaries.
i support this family's quest for justice. George was so callous and greedy - what was the point of defrauding his own family only to run the company to the ground and subsequently give his estate away to acquaintances? He had no biological or adopted heirs - he could have at least attempted to right his wrong by leaving his estate to his sister and her children.
It breaks my heart that the justice system has so far denied fairness to this family. Shame on the judge for not expecting the trust managers to notify their mother before the records were destroyed. Something needs to be done. For the judge to say, her mothers part was no more than $500,000 is not even logical who took those assets from the managed trust but the bank in fees. It sounds even criminal to me. I pray for justice still.
I do not believe they had no records. My heart goes out to this family. I hope they walk through this nightmare with faith and love and get what they are absolutely entitled to. Do not Quit!
How it it possible that every paperwork or evidence that they needed is destroyed and the only thing they have was the signature of Norma! Such evil people and that judge, all along sided with the bank:( sad sad 😢for Norma and her kids 😅 I pray for peace for them and their families ❤
I’m really sorry for all this mess. To think your family store was burned down and George had all that money which could have helped? Makes me sad that he could be so greedy. I trust he has been dealt with in the great beyond.
What an impressive story! I hope they win their appeal. I am French Canadian & proud of these family members who’s fighting for their rights 🇨🇦 I hope we do get an update from them.
The lawyers prior to final challenge on here should have told family about the six year wait needed for their mother to challenge her mothers estate. Right at beginning before spending money and waiting a year. These people squeeze as much out of people as they can. And kep people in the dark .
The behaviour of the Bank and the Judge is disgusting. I am really sorry for Norma's children for all the work and disappointment. Judges believe banks more than normal people. I have made similar experience with Scotia Bank in Canada when I asked for my house appraisal to fight an ex-partner all of a sudden it disappread. How is that possible at a bank in 2014?
Why didn't you have paper copies already? I save every paper from the title, to taxes, to ins, & repairs, & appraisals, & surveys etc with a hard copy. I have a giant 2' x 3' box from over the years, but it's all there.

I hope Karma is haunting him every minute of the day wherever he is. I can only hope that all Norma’s children will love, care and support for one another. That to me is more than wealth. ❤
Something similar happened on my mom’s side of the family only it was how my great-grandfather wrote his will. My great-grandfather owned a very successful paving business in California. My maternal grandmother was his oldest child. When my grandmother was in her late teens, my great-grandfather remarried and had a son and another daughter. When he died in the mid 60s, he left the business to his son and said my grandmother was to receive $250 a month for the rest of her life. Well, in the mid 60s, $250 was a decent amount of money but, as time went on, it obviously was worth less and less. If my grandmother had received a portion of the business, she wouldn’t have had to work so hard and so long (she was widowed twice by the late 1950s and never remarried).
Yes, and even if they knew she was a beneficiary, why was she not informed, the rules are not for beneficiaries to go looking for the documents that people retain🤨 1 day or many years after the death. The retainer is to inform🤨
My great Uncle was the same way. His father's will divided the estate, even giving my grandfather a meadow that sat between the two farms. My grandfather got nothing, and neither did any of my great Uncles and Aunts. Only the one got it all. No one fought it, they just left the state. When my great Uncle sold the estate, he sold the meadow my grandfather was supposed to get out from under him. He sold 475 acres, plus three livable homes for $53,000 at auction and never told any other family members about it so they couldn't lay claim to the property. This was in the 1970's. I hope he is sitting somewhere real warm right now.
It began when Norma married her husband out of love, unfortunately he had other motives as well, financial motives. She sacrificed her inheritance wealth for love, but the decision came back to haunt her. Explanation from these children clearly point out towards that direction, he married her so he could have easy life. Norma was a two times victim out of this whole saga, I feel sorry for her.

The mother Norma had no knowledge of inheritance, trust and the implementation of her own interests. She was a simple woman with an abusive husband for several years. It's a shame that she didn't have the strength to fight for her rights and her inheritance - at least for the sake of the children.
I’ve noticed how there’s always someone in the family who gets extra grabby when there’s a death in the family. There’s 7 of us and 2 who got grabby. The rest of us refused to fight with them.
You could OBVIOUSLY SEE the signatures of Norma was signed by the same person who signed the other names. The “r” is especially THE EXACT SAME!!! Ms. Norma did NOT sign that paperwork. I can’t believe no one pointed out that the paperwork and Ms. Norma’s signature was forged. 😡
Excellent question. Why can't a corporation own its responsability? I'm surprised that C. T. didn't and or doesn't settle, as although they have the might to crush the rightful airs of their client; much more goodwill, which is priceless, can be gained by doing the right thing.
Such a sad story... My wife's father built up a legacy of millions and his wife and son destroyed it through squandering on a 15 yr shopping spree which including selling 2 houses in the USA for which no money to date has been received. I come from a family of battlers yet understand what a legacy is all about it gives future generations the freedom to study or travel but not to waste a humans beings life-time of hard work. My wife's boys will fortunately inherit what her late husband has worked and died for. Money destroys or creates depending on the level of character within human beings.
They would have been better off never discovering the obituary. It cost them so much more than money to pursue their perceived entitlement. The bitterness is palpable. I hope they discover the peace waiting so very near to fill the empty hole.
Well, I hate to say it, but the courts do need a “cut off date” for lawsuit’s. It’s too bad she’d kept these secrets from her adult kids, they MAY have been able to do something earlier when George was still alive. AND it could have been their mother pride or their dad’s pride, that she didn’t ask questions after her father died ~ especially when there was obviously PLENTY of money to go around. My former mother in law had a similar situation happen when her did died in Nova Scotia in the 60’s. Her dad owned a sawmill and a lumber company. When he died, her brother aimed to “get everything” AND did. He used a third siblings disability against her. Basically he told her he’d not look after this sibling and he’d have to go into care, IF she didn’t agree. So, being a somewhat simple minded woman, (about business) who wanted her brother to continue to live in the only home he’d ever lived in, she agreed to her older brother’s terms. Little did she realize, that after she’d signed documents “giving up” her share, he could have still placed the third sibling in care. Luckily, he held firm in his agreement, and looked after this third sibling. Particularly galling is my mum in law had had a child out of wedlock, and because her older brother had no children, her father and brother decided, the day after she’d given birth, that the “best thing” would be for her brother to take the baby and raise it as his own. Then he treated her like this. What a sheister!!
This all happened because of the insatiable greed from most involved, and the incredible stupidity of a woman with wealthy parents who didn't even think of asking if her parents left her anything after dying.
She knew her dad and brother hated her husband. Probably assumed she was disinherited. Plus she was focused on the welfare of her own family. Sounded possible the store fire was also arson.
I have no doubt your mum would have been much happier if you still had your marriage instead of losing your marriage so she could retrieve a lump sum of money that was stole from her decades ago
I don't understand!!!! If Norma hipol was in such a bad money situation why didn't she claim her father's and mothers' estate???? I would have jumped up as a spring and stepped in at the minute, most for my children. I don't get it !!!!
What a disgusting brother it is seriously mindblowing how greedy and entitled some people feel!! The trust must be sued and people should be in prison!
I think the fault lies with the grandfather. He should have made it very clear who would get his inheritance and more people should have known about what his will said. So there was no sneaking after his death.
@@cheetoesgal5229 thats why i said very clear. After watching all these law suites it seems you have to be above and beyond clear if you have wealth to leave behind.
@@dmsmiles4044You are second-guessing the wording of the FATHER'S will (not grandfather!! The 7 siblings had a mother whose FATHER owned the company and assets, and their mother was the one named in the will, and the mother was the one who brought forward the lawsuits). According to this video, the will named two children, a daughter and a son, with their names listed. You cannot get clearer that. You want to place the blame for all these inheritance troubles at the feet of the father by saying his will wasn't clear. Hogwash. If the father had had a crystal ball, he could have foreseen his son being a manipulative, greedy and deceptive heir, and those allied with rhe son being of the same fraudulent nature, and he could have saved everyone grief by not leaving his cheating son a red cent. Sadly, the father had no crystal ball. What he did have was a will with the names of his two offspring listed as heirs (apart from his wife having a life interest).
@@dmsmiles4044Quit blaming the father for VERY clearly stating his son and his daughter as heirs in his will. The father, sans crystal ball, could not know that his son was a despicable, manipulative fraudster who cheated his sister out of her share, treated her despicably, ran the company into the ground, committed arson, etc etc.
What "DRIVES" the family? It may be partially driven by principle but in the end, it has nothing to do with legacy or principles it has to do with money. I find it incomprehensible that children of wealthy parents didn't at least contact the family lawyer to see if they were left anything upon their parent's death. Nobody is that naive.
The problem was probably she married somebody to the family didn’t approve of usually that is 70% of the problem back then especially when it was dealing with the daughters of wealthy families
Whoever wrote that paper with the names I think signed Norma's name....get a hand writing expert. Fyi..the H and N have similar markings for the same writer.

I have no doubt your mum would have been much happier if you still had your marriage instead of losing your marriage so she could retrieve a lump sum of money that was stole from her decades ago
True Indeed,,🙅
Their lawyer should of known that there is a time limit called statute of limitations on old cases...
what a greedy brother
Is the French surname, Jacques, so difficult to pronounce correctly?
Nasty Anglo Saxons😊
I don't understand!!!! If Norma hipol was in such a bad money situation why didn't she claim her father's and mothers' estate???? I would have jumped up as a spring and stepped in at the minute, most for my children. I don't get it !!!!
They hated her husband. If the store burned because of George it could’ve caused fear for the wellbeing of her children.
@@marylougeorge9890yep.
She probably figured she was disinherited .
@@gardensofthegods Exactly.
@@marylougeorge9890 yep .
It happens all the time,
What a disgusting brother it is seriously mindblowing how greedy and entitled some people feel!! The trust must be sued and people should be in prison!
I am so angry i can't watch anymore
how can people be so evil?
Do not think your family is any different from anyone else’s family. When it comes to money family is the worst.
You're right
People trust their kids but those kids will cut their oxygen off for the money
❤ The Will
I think the fault lies with the grandfather. He should have made it very clear who would get his inheritance and more people should have known about what his will said. So there was no sneaking after his death.
The will was quite clear.
@dmsmiles4044: I think you should re-listen to the video again. The father's will made it very clear who was to inherit.
OK she should have received her inheritance but why in the world wouldn't she ask to see the will? And then acted immediately?
this has to change for reel justice.
R-E-A-L
This is so sad
What "DRIVES" the family?
It may be partially driven by principle but in the end, it has nothing to do with legacy or principles it has to do with money.
I find it incomprehensible that children of wealthy parents didn't at least contact the family lawyer to see if they were left anything upon their parent's death. Nobody is that naive.
The problem was probably she married somebody to the family didn’t approve of usually that is 70% of the problem back then especially when it was dealing with the daughters of wealthy families
George is roasting right now.
but it is fraud.the case should not be under the statute of limitation
TRUST NOBODY FULL STOP !!!!
I’ve learned the hard way.
Whoever wrote that paper with the names I think signed Norma's name....get a hand writing expert. Fyi..the H and N have similar markings for the same writer.
Unfortunately, Norma's application for leave to appeal was dismissed in 2013.
