Everyone’s skin is different and sometimes foundations don’t match your skins under tones just right no matter the shade. So this is a useful thing to know and have 😁😁

That’s a cool technique, but any department store selling $275 foundation should allow you to exchange if it’s not a match. There’s no reason to spend that much on anything but a perfect match right out of the bottle.
HELL even Walmart allows you to return a 6$ Elf foundation I know cause I did. So does other stores but for this price tag I want a full bottle ready to go I'm not into mixing up & hoping it's the same color every day
She probably bought it online and it wasn't worth the hassle to ship it back and exchange it. The color would've worked had she just mixed it with a lighter pink toned concealer or foundation.

as a regular artist, not a makeup one, swatch it on your neck. the face tends to be more colorful than the rest of the skin, lots of reds and pinks that might make you think you have different undertones. if you go by that, your face will end up not actually matching the rest of your body, which is sort of what happened when you lightened it and took the yellow out.
@Nikki Dimick it's a shock the first time you put on your foundation and it looks "too dark" but as soon as its blended out, it usually looks SO natural. most fair skin girls only have issues bc a lot of shades oxidize and look orange, thats what the color correcting drops are amazing for! always mix with the opposite color on the spectrum to neutralize and you can make almost every foundation look like your perfect shade :D

Except blue doesn't neutralise yellow, purple does. It came out looking a bit too light. I know it's supposed to match the neck but I reckon the white would have been enough to do it. I'm an artist so I mix colours for skintone often.

I was helping a friend out, who just got a job there and was looking for people to sell her make up to. All the stuff I got was really good quality, but finding your shade was absolutely horrific. This stuff was way too light for my skin, I don’t know who they made that shade for. It made me look like a ghost. Wish I had known about this sooner.
They made that shade for me. But even the lightest shades can be horribly off. Usually way to yellow. Or even grey. You know who is grey? Dead people. I'm not dead yet lol
They think that only white people have money for expensive makeup. Like,only people of color will try to make something for everyone. This is just my observation. I am a white person, but I am also struggling,coz i am really pale.

It works the same as paint, the more you add of each, the darker it gets. If you're using watercolours for example, to make a light skin tone you mix the three primaries, and to make a darker skin tone, you simply continue to add more of the primaries, adding more of one or two depending on which kind of undertone you want! You can get greys/blacks to this effect if you really want to take it there

I think this is why I don't wear makeup.... the first swatch looked perfect and the mixed looked too light and unnatural

I agree. She made it olive undertone by mixing the blue pigment in. Just using a lighter more neutral concealer to highlight would have been enough.
