I don't know what's wrong with brands these days.. coming up with 50 shades of light nudes which won't suit half of the population and 1 perfect dark nude that will suit maximum skin tones in India!!! Matte lipsticks have become an essential staple these days. There are different subtypes of mattes like demi-matte, true matte, creamy matte etc. There are different formulations and they come in bullet, liquid, cream forms. In my opinion, an ideal matte lipstick formula should not dry down completely or else the lines would show and give a crusty-pruny appearance. It should provide the right amount of moisture, minimise the appearance of lines and creases and at the same time it should not have any sheen or gloss and must look like velvet on the lips. It should be opaque, with great pigmentation, full and even coverage. It should be long lasting and mustn't transfer much. It shouldn't appear patchy on the lips (especially in case of dark shades). If it can have a plumping effect on the lips that's a bonus feature. The texture must neither be that creamy and oily and musn't feel that heavy not be too dry on the lips. There shouldn't be any feathering or bleeding. If you know any such brands with such formulas that are available in India with good shade options for dusky and darker skin tones please do share them. If there are any specific shades please include them too.
Hey. I tried Nykaa so matte bullet lipsticls. There are 50 beautiful shades and they leave a creamy matte finish . (Which some people prefer). Butttttttt........i applied one shade: Taupe Thrill(Beautiful brown nude with a blueish undertone. ). And because I don't like creamy finish .(i prefer a soft flat matte look). I dabbed my lips with a little bit of ponds powder. And Lo!!!! I got the best long lasting, non transferring, soft matte look everrrr! You need to try this. They have mini versions of these only for rs 200 . Please try. And don't forget the powder. Its a game changer
I've seen this happen a lot. There are so many matte lipsticks with great formulas launched in India but sadly the shade options aren't enough for the medium, dusky and dark skin tones. The others just appear washed out and are totally unflattering including the bold shades. If these lipsticks are to be launched here, the companies must consider that most of the Indian skin tones are of the medium-dusky-dark range. It's so disappointing to see that even the big, superior, well known companies create shade ranges with wide options for fairer skin tones. This is particularly true for the red shades. A red matte lipstick (bold and subtle) is a must have for every woman of every skin tone but sadly the bold reds (with cool undertones) currently available don't suit the darker skin tones that much.

Please try to do swatches in natural day light. Most of the pinks look so similar and its very difficult to notice the undertones of the lipsticks.
