  • A UA-camr asked me how to put the F430 into "P" or "park." The Ferrari F430 doesn't have a "park" button or way to put the transmission into "park".

      People don't always realize that you have to put it in gear just like a manual transmission.

    I generally put my F430 Spider in neutral, whenever waiting at a traffic light or any similar situation. This should help to protect the clutch a bit and avoid the problem described.

      It actually will have no real affect on the clutch life but it may improve the release bearing life

    Wow ! I thought it would've gone into first automatically when you shut her off. My Maserati with the "F1 Gearbox" does it.
    I'll be picking up a 430 soon ! Absolutely beautiful machine.

      @@Trialnerror I was wondering about this. My Gransport has the F1 but i can park it and switch it off in either neutral or 1st gear. I too tend to put it into neutral to avoid wear on the throwout bearing, unless im on a hill.
      This has got me wondering - if you switch the car off in 1st gear, is the throwout bearing being damaged?

      I realize these are old comments, but I suspect it’s all in software, since Maserati’s DuoSelect is tailored more for convenience and ease than its various Ferrari F1 brothers. It could also be dependent on the car too, as even one F1-based Ferrari model may be different from another.
      I’ve had some reservations about F1/DuoSelect, my vehicles instead use the ZF transmission, which I think is phenomenal, but there are plenty of vehicles I would like to own that are equipped almost exclusively with the F1/DuoSelect transmission.
      I hope you got yourself a good F430, and that you’re enjoying it still!

    It’s funny. I’ve been researching Ferraris for a couple years now and thought I understood everything there was to know about using an F1 transmission. Finally got my 360 2 months ago and was caught off guard twice by how it behaves at a stop light and started to panic that my accumulator was on its last leg.

    The manual says
    “Parking
    Engage the handbrake, put the gearshift lever into 1st whether parking uphill or downhill, steer the wheelsand switch off the engine. (Valid for all versions, both with mechanical and F1 gearbox)”
    But it doesn’t bitch at me if I leave it in N and remove the key. And it always is back in N when I restart regardless of where I left it. This might just be a minor model hear variation.

    • @normalguysupercar
      @normalguysupercar  5 років тому

    This is literally just a manual trans with an extra sensor, different throwout bearing, and an electro hydraulic shifter block/pump bolted on. You can convert an f1 trans to a manual just by replacing the electro hydraulic block and throwout bearing setup, and finding the correct shifter/cables out of another 355/360/430 car

    Yeah. The "F1" transmission is literally an automated manual transmission. It has the internal design and mechanical build of a standard manual transmission, but the clutch and shifting are computer-controlled, therefore, it's a type of automatic transmission, but it's still a true manual transmission at heart.

    First time I drove a Gallardo the same thing happened in downtown Orlando rush hour traffic. E-Gear went into N and I didn't realize it. LOLHave you changed your F1 trans fluid? My 430 has been sitting for about 5 years and with very low mileage on the car I've heard it's important to run these cars at least once every few weeks to keep the seals lubricated and not dry out. Hoping that because it's been in a climate controlled garage for all this time I don't have issues with it. Talking with another 430 owner the other day he said it was $6-8k if the seals start leaking inside the F1. Something about a special computer to change the fluid in the trans? Any idea?

    Hi Daniel,
    A question i've got is something I was trying to get a friend with a 360 Modena F1 to tell me (but he didn't know or wanna try it), is.... If you're driving and wanna pop the car into neutral while coasting and rev the engine... How do you get it back into the gear you had it in? Does it automatically go there or do you have to hit the Auto button? My friend didn't wanna be adventurous and he would only rev in traffic and then step on the brake and put it back into first, so it wasn't very much like a manual car.

    • @robertsleeuw2882
      @robertsleeuw2882 5 років тому

      To get it back into gear after a rev in neutral, just pull the right paddle once and it will go into some gear (at very low RPM, so if you were in 3rd for ex, it will go back to 4th) but if you're under lets say 5mph, you need to press the brake at the same time
