This whole competition should have been scrapped and run again on another night. Those who fell were clearly rattled and it spread into their other pieces.

@@rolandgreen7484 Not just them, Jaime Dantzscher and Kristen Maloney both had uncharacteristic over and under rotations. The floor was found to have 3 dead spots after the competition. The standards for the equipment in Sydney was grossly negligent.

@@Kaboomboo that’s ridiculous, I hadn’t heard about that problem- just the vault. Sydney was one big cluster…

Such a great gymnast. I didn't realize she had a double twisting yurchenko, and on that tiny ridiculous thing they called a vault! Impressive.

Glad she got to do this. Huge improvement on her score

Her hands barely touch the vault this time too. They weren't even on top, rather they were on the side where the board is. I'm so glad they use the table now.

He warmup vault was the scariest thing to happen at Sydney. Her hands never even touched the vault. She was mere centimeters away from snapping her next on landing. Must have been terrifying.

She still pushed off the front of the board the first one.

Wasn’t that much of a difference.

kakumei77 you mean from the original all around vaults? She fell on both of them so I’d say it was a pretty big difference. After she redid her vaults she moved up over 20 places if I remember correctly, redoing the vaults was huge for her

Dustin Gabe Yeah, actually, if you simply add 0.8 to her beam score she would have snuck in there for fourth ahead of Liu Xuan, and upgraded to bronze after Raducan was disqualified. And she was capable of doing a bit better on floor, too, which you expect she might have had she not gone in thinking she was completely out of the running with falls on two events. Hard to know for sure but yeah

@@intldawn If you bump her beam score up to an even 9.7 and add to two tenths to her floor score for a 9.737, then add them to her vault and bar scores she could have placed second.

Kaya112345 That’s a lot of ifs but that’s kind of the theme for this whole competition. She certainly could have been in medal contention with a solid showing but the vault aside, a lot of medal contenders had problems on other events. Zamo and Karpenko both had fluke falls on floor and both were in pole position for gold. Lobaznyuk also had a big mistake on floor that hurt her. I don’t see Elise beating of those three for a medal if all of them were clean but no matter what, she had the potential to do a lot better. These vaults were very redeeming for her, for sure

@@Kaya112345 What is the point of giving her a 9.737 on floor though. She didn't post a single floor score even close to that all Games. In fact her 9.55 in the All Around was her highest. And even on her beam her best score of all Games was lower than a 9.7, although close to that. You are just giving her random scores there is no evidence she ie even capable of, let alone assuming she would hit all her routines.
