Crowd sleeping, Dialect's mic was terrible, Shit angles from Chilla. If Chilla had better angles than a round of "Dia" bars, a round of "Mark/Marcus" bars, and then more Di bars/making fun of his accent, then I'd be happier giving him the W, this was a really lackluster performance from Chilla. Plus Chilla pulling the whole "I have no idea what you said" was weak. Clips was reacting to Dialect's shit, Chilla had no issue understanding Cee Major and I'm pretty sure he reacted to Dialect's shit on Don't Flop. Dialect's bodied Daylyt and Cortez anyway. People know he's good.

The crowd was definitly terrible, First KoTD event i attended an im sure the guy editing these clips had fun blocking out the audio from the crowd, you guys keep sayin the crowd was terrible imagine if you seen the whole picture. This is the crowd after editing. try an imagine how bad the crowd was before editing. Most of the problems came from the MC's friends they brought just sitting in the back talkin through everyones shit.
I don't know what happened to the toronto crowds. its like since they started doing stage battles the crowds have gotten weaker and weaker. as someone who lives in the toronto area, its kinda disappointing. our crowds used to be one of the best in battle rap.

blackout 5 is in a theatre where its all seats where everyone can see the stage without some tall guy in front of you...id definitly rather have a seat i was at blackout 3 my legs were killin after 3hrs...the seats sound nice!
yeah i think the need to scrap the stage and i know they want it all bigger and people saying its on the stage to big it up but the small crowd circled the battlers is 10x better imo can still do it in bigger areas

Dialect 2-1. Chilla was awesome, perhaps a bit under par from his usual, but still pretty good. Strong 'Di' wordplay and intellectual bars. However, Dialect picked up the win for me, regardless of his busted microphone. As an American, I struggled to understand Dialect's grime, but it worked. The rhymes were there and it was straight heat. He also managed to deliver more punchlines and intricate schemes of his own. In my opinion, Dialect's earned a few new fans.

Its not difficult, they just never leave the US and listen to only American accent music. Anyone that's been on holiday outside US, listening to reggae/dancehall or grime/uk hiphop should easily understand Dialect. And they are really DUMB if they just think " i dont understand this fuck him" if i was stupid enough to not understand another man chatting english i would see it as a challenge and try to understand him.
I am a huge fan of dialect, but his accent isn't always easy to understand, not that it can't be done, but a lot of times it takes more than one listen to catch everything.
Its not difficult at all, actually. I understood what he was saying, but that accent takes away from the flare of the bars. I guess its something we just have to get used to. I can tell his parents are probably from the Caribbean. He should probably spit that shit with more of a caribbean dialect. That might help him win when he battles on this side of the pond.

No more complaints in terms of understanding.
It's grime, which is a UK Type of Rap which consists of being able to flow flawlessly on a 140bpm instrumental.
It's tends to be a type of rapping whereby Flow is prioritised over Lyricisim.
Hence it sounds good when heard initially, but lacks its strength and potency when really analysed and broken down.
Overall, Chilla Jones 2-1.
Good battle.
And good to see Dialect receive shine on the Canadian stage holding the UK down.

I don't think it's fair to breakdown Dialect's grime verse and say "he said nothing" when there are bars from Chilla that arguably mean nothing as well.
But because grime isn't something American's are used to hearing, they think that all of it has to mean something. It's predominantly performance, to show how much of a beast writer you can be. What... Daylyt is what you'd prefer to hear? Someone who says a lot of words related in a topic, tries to make sense of it, but ends up saying nothing creditworthy either? Or how about a load of gun bars, when nobody is going to shoot a gun on stage? You're entitled to your own opinion, but you need to gain some perspective.
It's not about being american, battle rap is about bars and performance. All dialect showed me is that he can rap at 140 bpm. He was ill prepared for this battle and lost to an average chilla jones performance because of it.

What people don't understand, is that when you say: 'This rapper wins cause I couldn't understand the other ones accent', what you're actually saying is 'This rapper wins because I'm stupid'. That's not even an insult, it's just true. You can't judge something based on your short comings. The world says he is speaking ENGLISH, so if you can't understand English, then it's only in your stupidity, that in you're mind - he lost on that basis. They don't actually lose because you're too lazy to listen to what you claim is your native tongue. I've probably just lost half of you on that last sentence.

Chilla won because all 3 rounds from Dialect, while being particularly impressive from a flow aspect, contained absolutely ZERO good writing. The man said almost nothing quotable, on a platform where that is the entire point to do so, in reference to your opponent.
If this were a beat battle, Dialect would out-flow Chilla in his sleep I'm sure. However, this system is about bars, and Dia didn't BRING any. In short, he was Reed Dollarz. All his bars were in the car.

As much as ppl don't like name flips or think it's too easy & not that creative, at the end of the day when u have limited time to prepare it's still a good way to keep focused on your opponent to at least make it look like your bein a bit more direct lol

Unfortunately both rappers were a bit lackluster. I think this had something to do with the fact that there was a last minute opponent change. The reduced prep time is probably why Jones' rounds seemed so short. Also, there were some technical difficulties with Dialect's mic. All of this seemed to have created a disinterested crowd. I would love for Dialect to get another shot at showcasing his skill on Canadian soil. He had a very minor stumble in his third, but also had some shinning moments with his double time and grime skills. Maybe we'll seem him at the next World Domination. As for Jones, I just wish he could have a full performance without beating us to death with name flips.

Ever since kotd done big crowd and got more recognition, the fans that go our different , now people go just to go cause of how popular it is not for to actually hear some bars, they go hoping to see drake, antics and other stupid shit,
I think it sucks that Dialect will never get the American recognition he deserves because he's already kind of big, so they'll only have him on giant stages with disrespectful crowds not willing to attempt to look past his accent. Put him in a small room with hip hop heads and see the difference in reaction.
Dialect 2-1. I understood him just fine, Chilla didn't even look like he wanted to be there and those 'DIA'______ bars were about as potent as the 'I don't understand you' angle.
Toronto arguably has the worst crowd in battle rap. KOTD WC is way better. URL, Don't Flop, Spit Dat Heat, RBE, Trap House, Street Status, QOTR, Black Ice Cartel all have better crowds.
It may be time to book small venues(no more than 300 people) and charge higher prices. I think it'll be worth it for the attendees if they could have a better battle event experience overall.

Dialect is naturally aggressive and it made it that much better to watch. Chilla had some good bars but seemed like he brought little to no enthusiasm. I had no problem understanding Dia by the way.

If dialect didn't forget his 3rd round cuz of the shitty fucking crowd disrespecting him I reckon it would be a 3-0 chilla was terrible, dialect wasn't even at his best here, chilla just had 3 rounds of some of the worst and most uncreative name flips I've ever heard, this battle was a let down, from the crowd, to Mic issues, and chilla bringing awful bars. I understood every last bar dialect had to offer. The problem is these events fill up with less then half a crowd that understands bars, and the rest only reacting off The next man's reaction.. ..... ..... Now imagine what would happen if you throw an accent into the mix........
Worst crowd. I wouldn't blame Chilla for never coming back to Toronto. Dialect went hard too, crowd just left him hanging.
The crowd was definitely asleep on this one. I say Chilla took this 2-1 but Dialect wasn't far behind him. Had he not had to freestyle and cut short the last round, he might've taken this.
