Hi Etien! Making drums from zero isn't my speciality. There's plenty to consider though: 1) types of wood, 2) whether to have a solid drum, or staves (like a barrel), 3) Which rope (pre stretched is better), 4) thickness of the wood, 5) the inner surface of the drum (smooth/carved), 6) the curve of the wood and the angle at the playing edge, 7) the material and size of your hoops (how tight/loose they fit to the drum). There's probably more to think about too. Maybe find a local maker and offer your time in exchange for some knowledge/skills? This might save you from making some mistakes. Good luck!
