I'd recommend "The Hammer". It's a true story about a deaf wrestler who ends up being a college walk on and who struggles with coming of age. He ends up becoming a three time collegiate champion and continues his career in mma.
WIN WIN. It was a very independent film - only played a week in limited cities. I saw it one weekend. It left town so I hunted down its location and drove 50 miles to Ithaca, NY with my family and some of their friends so they could see it. Well worth the trip. Not only a great wrestling movie - it’s a FANTASTIC MOVIE period. Paul Giamati, Bobby Canvale, oh and the wrestling kid is Alex Shaffer IS an actual state wrestling champion. The dialogue is wonderful the characters are well defined.
I've seen a majority of these movies and they were big inspirations to me especially vision quest and fox catcher as well as the fox catcher documentary, but there was a couple I haven't seen and I'm glad you made the video. Thanks man :)
I think you ought to watch... Reversal - The Movie. It may be a bit hokey, but it's the 'realness' that makes it that way. And then, if you're into documentaries about real legendary wrestlers, you should see, VERITAS, about the Lehigh University wrestler Jon Trenge, who was up against a personal handicap that his opponents took unfair advantage of! Be warned: this film makes you want to whip some asses!
There’s a wrestling movie called ‘Reversal’ that is pretty good and a late 70s early 80s movie ‘Take Down’ starring Lorenzo Lamas that was good back in the day. Vision Quest cannot be topped.
'Reversal' was pretty good, and worth watching. There's a trailer of sorts here: ua-cam.com/video/qVYW0IgfjKk/v-deo.html, and is rated 6.1 on IBDb: www.imdb.com/title/tt0226379/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2. As far as I know, it's only available on DVD: www.amazon.com/Reversal-Danny-Mousetis/dp/B0000AZKJR/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=reversal&qid=1601745024&sr=8-5.
Cayden I just got into wrestling this year at FHS and your videos have helped me out a lot. Thank you for your entertaining and informative videos. Keep it up, much love ❤
Try Take Down, 1979. The story of a struggling high school team, who lose their head coach, get a replacement Coach who knows nothing of wrestling. They convince a stud wrestler to join their team, turning the program, and facing their rival in a championship team dual.
Win Win is probably the movie that puts wrestling in the best light. Some of those movies are straight to video garbage. Foxcatcher is the "best" movie in a critical sense, but is more a character study and Oscar bait for Carrell, shows Channing Tatum's range as an actor. The backstory of the young actor from Win Win is pretty cool, too.
Yeah he was an actual wrestler at my high school during filming. We were all pumped about the movie. Huhterdon central regional high school in flemington NJ.
Surprised to not see "Dangal" on this list I really enjoyed watching it. Idk if you've seen it but it's on Netflix if you dont mind reading subtitles since it's completely in hindi. I'm definitely gonna check out these movies tho
Theres a high school wrestling movie that never came out that starred Kurt Angle as the antagonist's wrestling coach. Title is "Beyond the Mat" about a Vietnamese American wrestler.. wish it came out...
American Wrestler is actually a REALLY good and underrated movie. The kid is an immigrant from Iran if i’m not mistaken and it’s his journey on his first year of wrestling. it deals with a lot of different subjects from racism to romance. Very inspiring.
Oh, the slap on the face has been around for a long time. I remember our team doing this when I was in high school in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.
Its sad that there arent more great wrestling movies. Football has so many. Remember the titans, greater, and sooo much more. Stupid team sports taking all the glory in the film industry.
I loved vision quest in high school, but it always bothered me that they ended a match because a guy had a bloody nose. I would never have gotten through a match if that was the case.
There's a documentary called Pinned that features NCAA All American/Mma Champ Lance Palmer (Ohio State). I know its free on pluto, vudu, and tubi. Shows two kids while in high school trying to win a state title in Ohio.
Im a huge Dave Schultz fan. But belueve no youth should watch FOXCATCHER. It's a dark film. Alot of it was augmented inaccurately by Hollywood. On a side note: Did anyone else also notice they removed almost all persons of color from the movie? This is Hollywood's perspective on Wrestling in that era but nor a true history nor appreciation for Dave Schultz nor the era of Wrestling he lived in.
How many of y’all also didn’t know there were 5 wrestling movies 😂
Hahaha
I’ve only ever watched 2 😂 I found a Disney wrestling movie but idk if it’s any good
AJ Roppul it’s cheesy and the actors suck but it’s entertaining and that little dude from “holes” is in it
I thought fox catcher was the only one lol
Didn't even know there was one and I've been wrestling for 6 years now😭
I'd recommend "The Hammer". It's a true story about a deaf wrestler who ends up being a college walk on and who struggles with coming of age. He ends up becoming a three time collegiate champion and continues his career in mma.
I heard abt this
Spoiled
Great movie
HOLY SHIT THAT IS HARDCORE
Well ig I don’t have to watch the movie anymore huh

I grew up with Alex, he went to hunterdon central regional high school. The school was pumped about this movie. Lol. Cool to see it on the list.

American Wrestler is actually a REALLY good and underrated movie. The kid is an immigrant from Iran if i’m not mistaken and it’s his journey on his first year of wrestling. it deals with a lot of different subjects from racism to romance. Very inspiring.
The romance angle is crap. but yeah it's decent

Hey cayden do you anyone knows Indian wrestling movies ??. If no then go through the movie “Dangal”. You will love it.
Oh, the slap on the face has been around for a long time. I remember our team doing this when I was in high school in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.
Foxcatcher is the most sentimental. I could watch it 100 times
Yo you should of put Dangal on the top 5 movies it's a really great wrestling movie to watch and it should be on Netflix still to watch
👍🏼
number one should be Wrestle
Can you make a longer wrestling practice video
Fun fact: the actor in Win Win (Alex shader) was actually a state champ from New Jersey!
"Shaffer". 2010 state champ at 119 from hunterdon central
I’ve been waiting for this

It is really goooood
Bruh, do not watch that hot garbage. There's rapey themes, story is subpar, the wrestling references are decent at best. I was disappointed
Vision Quest ALL THE WAY💯💯
Awesome video bro👍
My favorite wrestling movie is Mia Kalifa takes on huge Black Beast
Low key I am gonna spend all my money to buy all these.
I'm watching all ovethem
3:21 Adam Busiello looking 106

Reversal is the greatest wrestling movie
In the win win movie the blond actor kid is actually a New Jersey State champion in real life
Should definitely include DANGAL , an indian movie based on two real female wrestlers who made a name for themselves.... highly recommend
Vision quest❤️❤️
The kid in the movie win win was a NJ 119 State Champ from Hunterdon Central in 2010. Felt bad for the kid from my school that got destroyed by him
I can't be the only person who misread this as top 5 wrestling moves
I gotta watch all these

As far as I’m concerned, there’s only one wrestling movie. No holds barred. How do you like them apples?
Have you ever tried Jiujitsu. I trained for 3 years then joined wrestling. Wrestling helps Jiujitsu, Jiujitsu helps wrestling a little bit.
Caden u got an x box u can buy the second movie for 19$
American Wrestler is the best. Great story. The uncle in the story is the actual wrestler the story is based on I think.
I was wondering if you could make a video about wrestling stance
