The extra E5s in "Same Old Love" give me life every time
She has a prettier voice than I realized, I just think most of today’s major pop stars are a lot more skilled than her
One thing that stands out is that she is very much a low Mezzo-Soprano. That C3 at 1:17 is completely neutral with effortless projection totally connected. C3 is low even for a Mezzo and to even go below C4 a Soprano would need a very well placed extension. Her voice is actually quite rich and smooth, all that brightness is entirely produced in her nose. She's definitely not a Soprano or a high Mezzo, she is a medium-low Mezzo hence the difficult highs.
the c#5 overall in the revival tour sound so amazing. they’re resonant and toned, even if they don’t look that much comfortable for her to sing. the potential is there!
Selena has one of the prettiest tones/timbres in music industry, that's reason why she actually has a music career. Her low notes are pretty good, she has good tone and she shows (inconsistent) support down to Eb3 which is fine. Her falsetto/head voice have so much potential, in her comfortable range (up to D5 or E5) she sounds so pretty and pleasant and even above there is potential and her transitions are very smooth and connected. Her belt is mostly hit or miss nothing in between, she's not very consistent belter but she has some great moments like for example those Sober C#5s or unexpected E5s in Same Old Love, which again shows potential is there.
At the beginning of her career they pushed her to sing songs that definitely weren't for her range or her skills at the time so it makes sense she struggled singing them, that led people laughing on her and that led to her absolutely lost all confidence.
Sometimes it looks like she doesn't want to even try, that she's so afraid of failing she rather doesn't even try, sometimes it looks like Selena lost all hope she could improve more and that's so sad.
I really want from Selena to get het full confidence back, give herself 1 year to really work on her voice and then go on stage and show all these motherfuckers how wrong they were about her.

She is a Mezzo-Soprano. A lyric one. It's such a shame the singing rotule they have put on her and the constant hating took away her confidence and sence of improvement. Considering that she doesn't had a vocal torn like Miley, hitting the 2nd octave without mixing with the fry register shows she has a GREAT low range. Not singing often, even in falsetto, above D5 shows such a neglect with her instrument, it's sad🥺

@@pedromurilo1050 nah, i dont think so, she doesnt sound like a mezzo at all, yall call anyone with a smaller range mezzo, ive also seen people calling her a contralto lmaoo, its not that she cant hit high notes because she is mezzo, its because she has a poor technique and is just a mediocre vocalist, also her health issue play a factor too, what is mezzo about Selena? I've always liked Selena's voice. I've always said she's not one to rely on dramatics or theatricality to get her point across; give her a good melody, and let her run. Now that she's writing her own lyrics and melodies, she has the potential to take that even further. I for one am here for it.
She has a lot of solid high notes from B4- G5 in her revival remix on tour that aren't just screams
They are, cause she doesn't hit a particular note everytime, is always a random note. It stills proving she has good potential there tho

Thank you for reconfirming the progress she could make in breath control! A lot of people skim over that, especially with singers who have similar tones to Selena gomez like Taylor swift or billy eilish for that example. which differentiates a pop singer from a Broadway singer and people forget that pop singers need that quality in their singing as well. It really goes overlooked imo.

Thanks for the incredible work! The truth is the people unfortunately prioritizes singers who have a high-pitched or "girly" voice, like Taylor Swift. Selena is obliged to sing like this unlike she won't be successful. Combined with a breathy vocal style live performances usually have inconsistencies, the same happens with Britney Spears. But none of this detracts from Selena, her success is justifiable due to her unique tone and beautiful relaxing voice. 🤍
Girly voice? You sure? Why are Adele, Pink and Christina Aguilera loved by listeners and critics then? Selena Gomez is a weak vocalist.
The difference is Britney had a really good voice but they made her sing with the high pitched voice but at least she used to be able to dance and put on iconic performances and do iconic choreography

i think we can count that one G5 she did on Revival Remix even though it was very shouty but G#5 and A5 she did are pure screams, she doesn't have any control up there, which is not bad, she's a mezzo she definitely doesn't have to belt above G5.

There are people who don't have a career who THINK they can sing better than this, and there's people that are better than half the current industry greats that don't have a career. So. What's your point. It's not a reflection on selenas ability. She's good and she's improved a lot since the beginning which is normal for a female singer, with someone of her vocal range it does take until the mid 20s to fully mature fun fact. What I mean to say is fame has nothing do with how good you are. If you equate it with that than you're misunderstanding the career and the art of singing in general. Not all sing to be famous not all have a famous career in singing because that's what they wanted from it.
She's been in the business for a very long time, has she seriously never considered taking vocal lessons? Ariana had problems with enunciation and support but she improved a lot; Lady Gaga, Pink and even someone as mediocre as Taylor showed huge progress vocally. Selena Gomez, however still sounds bad live. Her vocals are strained and unsupported. Without her PR machinery, I doubt she'd be this popular.
I feel as if she didn’t get a vocal coach because of people. We’ve seen she has one though and she did an excellent and controlled belt when practicing with him continuously, but she stopped seeing him because of people. People were on her ass about the fact there was some notes she couldn’t hit with ease because she was kind of forced to sing songs that weren’t for her. She just gave up on trying and you could tell she sometimes was way too scared to even try and lip synced because she didn’t wanna fail anyone, and she still got bullied so now she’s on and off in singing and went back to acting.
