Its so fucked up how there's only like a couple of genuinely good characters in this movie, everyone is either corrupted or tainted by drugs/crime and mainly kanako.
I really liked this movie. Like you said when you think it is dark it goes even darker. It did like the whole whole world that was set for this movie with all these characters ( which all of them are broken in a sense). My only problem with this movie is that in moments it draggs a little bit. Also i think ( or just a feeling) that this movie really depends on who much you can handle the dark side of humanity to finish this movie. I wouldn't be surprised if people will pause the movie just to do something else to feel a little bit better. Because there are zero points that lighten up your spirit. Like you said before even the protagonist isn't a nice guy. Tetsuya Nakshima is a great director. He is very good in showing the dark psychological ways of humans. There is always something of a dark secret behind the characters. A Mask behind a mask. So after watching Confessions i would definitely recomment watching Kamikaze Girls, Memories of Matsuko and It Comes if you think The World of Kanako is too dark for you.
I just watched the movie here on youtube. The last scene it shown was the snowfield where they are tryin to dig up her bones. But it was cutted. I dont know if it only ends there. Somebody tell me if he found kanako?
Yeah it ends like that. I assumed it is implied that the father is in a continuous search of his daughter in order to kill her with his own hands (for him to satisfied/relieve himself).
i think it’s the laugh but those two characters are no where comparable to be because nanno is karma kanako is kind of like yuri in my opinion just worse but with nanos laugh but i think chicha mentioned that this kanako was an inspiration for nano
