I feel inhuman when I listen to this song. Like there is something inside of me, building up so much bigger than I. Its ripping and tearing my insides trying desperately to escape and disperse into the world.
and i'm really glad to see u people not only have an opinion but u also back it up why u have that particular opinion.animal collective are not for everyone, some people just wont be able to get their heads around the whole concept of animal collective. But yeah voice ur opinion and dont let anyone tell u ur wrong
Absoloutely superb song. There isn't a lot of good bands at the moment. But Animal Collective are simply amazing. I'm enjoying this on Easter Sunday, having a few beers. Such a touching song - truly brilliant. Musical genius. This beats any "mainstream" song any day. Music that means something is always better. This is just beautiful - bottled chaos.
woah this is beautiful Richard, i paid attention to the lyrics the second time around and it made lots of sense. "Where's my friend? i want to hold him tight"..i dont know how much more of school i can take, i think im gonna take a week long vacation soon and come visit u. make more vids!!
every song that my co-worker let us listen to during closing hours, this is one of my fave groups, and i'm thankful for my co-worker forcing me to love them. thanks nate. ;D
For some reason, I'm never able to fully enjoy certain Animal Collective songs until I see some sort of visualization put with it. Now I can fully enjoy this one :D
when I first heard this I was a little skeptical, slightly creeped out. but after a whole lot of thinking, and a couple trips, its quite comforting now
this is the most intellectual debate i've ever seen on youtube haha and yet i'm not surpriesed to see such an argument on a video for animal collective I truly believe you have to just sit back and take animal collective's music in,at first i did find it quite hard to do so,i never really knew what they were trying to say with their music. But i came back to listen (especially this song) and have eventually found the genius in everything they do,simply an amazing band
exact same for me. Usually the first time I don't like a song from them the first time I hear it, but they just grow on you cause they're SO DAMN CATCHY! *shakes fist!*
But that's the thing.. they ARE words! If you looked up their songs, there happen to be actual, concrete words to them. It might take a few listens to piece them together. Plus, AC isn't the first band with lyrics you can't really hear! Ah-Ha's Take On Me, for example. I have YET to meet a person who knows all the words that are said. Most people just hum/scream the melody. The backbone of a song isn't ALWAYS the words you know.. it's also the tune.
I like the way you support your beliefs alot and you are clearly intelligent. For me its the opposite and its in the abstract lyrics that i get the most satisfaction out of their music, but i can see where you are coming from. I think their music focuses on the "Big Picture" if that makes sense
Ok, I´ve heard them before but right now they match my caothic inside perfect. In fact their music makes me feel nice and cosy and ´´normally disordered´´. Beside from (it) being downright beautiful Who needs drugs when you can have A C free and leagal...
Yea, i know that they never use drugs to be creative, but god damn... this is a sonic experience the feelings of which cannot really be paralleled except by drugs. ((((O))))
Maybe If you like CHAOS, you'll like 'Danse Manatee', or the black dice remix of peacebone (it seriously hurt my ears, no joke), but if not, I would recommend yes, easing into AC the SAFEST way possible.
The weird thing about animal collective is that i never well almost never liked them the first time i heard them. After like the 2nd time they are awesome
Yo Finkshit, no wonder you level with ava, because you choose Feels which is ac's most AGREEABLE album. Ava, if you want to try to "ease" into AC i suggest feeling out Sung Tongs or Here Comes the Indian first.
good lyrics are those that can be interpreted in various ways and all hold true, and absolutely mean something to that person. and @pearstwo absolutely. avey sings with more raw emotion you can truly hear than, well, anyone.
It certainly doesn't hurt though. Haven't listened to Animal Collective high yet, but next time I drop acid I'm listening to their entire discography... again...
And just to let you know, I totally respect your opinion. I hope you don't think I'm hashing you or anything. I know a lot of folks who kind of hold a similar opinion with music like this.
If I could for a moment add my two cents on this comment. I actually find it a bit ironic that you mention that music is about "expressing yourself", yet you condemn this band only because you can't understand what they're saying at first. Well, how do you know if your true self makes any sense at all? AC is probably the most passionate band I've ever listened to, and certainly the most expressive. They're not afraid to scream, not afraid to moan. Pretty darn expressive to me!
Yo, Ava, I can understand your unease, AC is a lot to take in, and some of their songs in my opinion are random crap. But, try the album Feels, probably their best. And try the song Fireworks, that is great musically and lyrically, and it sounds pretty normal-for an AC song.
non you don't have to be high to enjoy it ..... it's and adventure inside anyway.... the wimps might be afraid to join this journey within and blame the creator for being on so substance..... but what you can reach inside just by listening to this kind of music is much much betterrrrrrrr
@enzomalky What a rude comment. Liking animal collective =/= giving up on life. If you dislike the song, that's fine, but you make it seem as if liking a certain type of music makes you a certain type of person. don't be so bitter.
I listened to Feels and Strawberry Jam on acid one of the best artistic experiences of my life, no you don't have to be high or tripping to enjoy it but it certainly makes it better and you go in to the music more and they're a psychedelic band so psychedelics obviously go well with it.
...Is there a problem with having music that agrees with you? Sung Tongs is a good album but I would not want someone trying to get into them listen to "We Tigers," for example. Yeah it's funny to play it around your friends, pretend you like it and see the looks on their faces, but it's not something I would listen to unless I had to.
The piano part is taken from Liszt's Liebenstraum, one of many reason's why Animal Collective should be seen as incredible for their diversity.
Truly an amazingly beautiful song, I had no idea this song was about a very personal thing with avey, he could have been a dad :(
I feel so sad, today part of my life crumbled. The king in I died. This song is everything I am now.
you can put beautiful energy into the world , at a push of a button
no doubt favourite song by Animal Collective, i can just feel so much emotion from it, its intense
i love this song. its so beautiful(piano) yet so messy (chorus) at the same time. pure genius
I heard this song at the beach and i was so stoned.. That day i visited heaven♥
i listened to this song a lot when i felt lost in life, when i felt like i was just floating. i didnt know where i was going.
I have been searching for this band all my life, every song takes my breath away...
This is one of the best songs ever written.
I feel inhuman when I listen to this song. Like there is something inside of me, building up so much bigger than I. Its ripping and tearing my insides trying desperately to escape and disperse into the world.

I finally got to listen to these guys when i was pretty baked last night.
amazing.

make more vids!!
omg
His singing is so unique. I fucking love it!
The first time I heard this was one of there very early tour they did. Or some form of the song. So glad it finally made it to an album. Epic track!!
This song is about a miscarriage that Avey's wife had.
this song is beautiful and makes me want to cry in the most nostalgic ways sometimes.
every song that my co-worker let us listen to during closing hours, this is one of my fave groups, and i'm thankful for my co-worker forcing me to love them. thanks nate. ;D
thats the best homemade music video ive ever seen
For some reason, I'm never able to fully enjoy certain Animal Collective songs until I see some sort of visualization put with it. Now I can fully enjoy this one :D
I am not and have never been high, and this song is fucking incredible.
this might just be the best song ever
Extremely well done! I like it a lot!
golly, I do like this. good job-o.
One of my all-time favorite songs.
when I first heard this I was a little skeptical, slightly creeped out. but after a whole lot of thinking, and a couple trips, its quite comforting now

the intro is the best part.
This song is definitely a 'grower.' I used to skip this song every time I played Strawberry Jam but now it's one of my faves.
this is one of my favorite animal collective songs at the moment.
This is their best song, in my opinion.
Done marvously well.
this song is beautifully ambiguous.
But that's the thing.. they ARE words! If you looked up their songs, there happen to be actual, concrete words to them. It might take a few listens to piece them together.

This song massages my brain
it's definitely one of the best
Good question. It's a nice little soundscape though.
One of the best songs.
i like this video alot
the song is amazing as well
Ok, I´ve heard them before but right now they match my caothic inside perfect.
In fact their music makes me feel nice and cosy and ´´normally disordered´´.
Beside from (it) being downright beautiful
Who needs drugs when you can have A C free and leagal...
Yea, i know that they never use drugs to be creative, but god damn... this is a sonic experience the feelings of which cannot really be paralleled except by drugs. ((((O))))
wow very good

the king in i died... just drift and pray, for sun-kissed golden days

What is that red-headed thing?!
And just to let you know, I totally respect your opinion. I hope you don't think I'm hashing you or anything. I know a lot of folks who kind of hold a similar opinion with music like this.
best 6 minute coma of my life
Guys, why are ye so good!?? Fukya
did you drop while filming this?
This is my fauvorite AC song this week
@ganamoha but are you really all the things that are inside of you ?
niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice :)
but it does help... maybe your anger too lol.
@RamblingCrickets Even sadder than the morbidly Obese Hawaiian Guy's version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow?
Is there a different version or something cause I heard a song by Animal Collective that had the lyrics "I'm A Cuckoo" but this isn't it?
🥺
If I could for a moment add my two cents on this comment.

I do the exact same thing.

This is the saddest song in the world.
i concur.
i have noting to say but wow
Yo, Ava, I can understand your unease, AC is a lot to take in, and some of their songs in my opinion are random crap. But, try the album Feels, probably their best. And try the song Fireworks, that is great musically and lyrically, and it sounds pretty normal-for an AC song.
take it easy. open your mind. be open. open your mind. open your mind. you WILL get a good result. otherwise just take it easy
trippin bawlz
I just discovered this band last night and I feel my life will never be the same.
everybody stop critiquing everyone else's taste in AC. its like drugs, do them because they are awesome, but don't peer pressure.
non you don't have to be high to enjoy it ..... it's and adventure inside anyway.... the wimps might be afraid to join this journey within and blame the creator for being on so substance..... but what you can reach inside just by listening to this kind of music is much much betterrrrrrrr
@bobanddavid90 Same thing happened to me when I found them. So amazing. So underrated.
woot, they sample liszt.
@enzomalky What a rude comment. Liking animal collective =/= giving up on life.
If you dislike the song, that's fine, but you make it seem as if liking a certain type of music makes you a certain type of person. don't be so bitter.
nice 'stache
@xxflareknightxx unless you're a pianist, and in any case liszt is not THAT great just really bad ass
band*
@R0b1zzle137 That's how I felt about Animal Collective in the beginning, except without the tripping.
SAMPLES FRANZ LISZT!
After so long, I have returned.

The song is good and the video is good, but not together, in my opinion.
