Ok so I'm amazed that you found a checkers where you can walk in, down here in the south you can only walk up (outside) or drive-thru. The fries are the best in the busines imo, super savory! Loved this review Ken, and yes, the fries are battered and seasoned heavily...they come from the factory that way and frozen. But oh my lord do I love them! Keep up the great reviews, I love thumbing them up!

I tried Checkers/Rally's fries from the frozen section at Wal-Mart. After baking them in the oven for 18-20 minutes, those fries remind me of the seasoned fries at Denny's.

Ken I use to work for a rallys here in Ohio and the fries consists of pancake batter and Club soda to make the batter for the fries

When I used to work at Checkers they fry everything twice before it goes out the window. They fry it to cook it then pop it back in right before it is served. Also they use shortening instead of oil.

A Wendy’s Baconator is bigger and they don’t put cheese sauce or ketchup on it.

I think they coat the fries with corn starch and fry them cause I've had fries like that before and there so distinguishable from the other fast food fries cause its almost like there's a crust on the fries. I like it.

First time I had checkers was in Louisiana in about 2001 they were cheap like 69 cent shakes and 99 cent burgers if I remember it was only room enough for employees to cook food and lines on both sides of the building dual drive thru

There's only a few fast food fries that are worth going out for just for them alone - Nathan's fries are one, and Checker's fries are the other. If you get Checker's fries early in the morning (or straight outta the oil I would imagine anytime of the day) they literally taste like apple pie kinda. Soooooo good. When they are molten hot and literally glistening with oil - just perfect fast food fries. Not the best for your cholesterol I'm sure, but hey what fast food is at this point right?

Look man let me fill you in on a Rally's/Checkers secret menu sandwich. As a manager there i had plenty of time to create the perfect sandwich. toasted bun light mayo top and bottom steak meat top and bottom with a small amount of cheese sauce on top of the steak. Add two beef patties and two slices of cheese, assemble the sandwich YOU MUST LET THE SANDWICH REST for about 2-3 min to let the cheese and juices meld together. After that gather some napkins unwrap your masterpiece and enjoy. I call it, "The Garbage Burger."

I just order a side of cheese sauce at Wendy’s and put it on the burger anyways. They used to have a half pound jalapeño melt at Wendy’s had the cheese sauce. Now I have to add jalapeños and cheese sauce myself.

I never had Checkers until earlier this year during a vacation trip in Buffalo. I actually got food from that same Checkers. If only I had one in my city.

I always stop at Checkers or Rally's when I see one. We don't have any in Pittsburgh, but there are a bunch up around the Cleveland, OH area. I believe they coat their fries in a corn starch slurry which give it that insane crisp.
