There might be some essence of Brazilian desserts but unlike North Americans, we do not stuff big amounts of cream cheese and peanut butter. Our desserts usually are sweeter than fatter.

Edit: I only translated this comment because I thought it had an irony aspect to it. It started as a complaint, but rapidly changed to a food description, showing the national Brazilian spirit. (In my opinion)
      Translation:
Well, firstly I will not translate, because I am not complied. The Brazilian food is very diversified, but I prefer BRIGADEIRO, Coxinha (a deep fired savory pastry made with a soft dough and chicken inside), and last but not least, Pão de Queijo (cheesy breads). It is delicious.
Edit: Sim, eu sou brasileiro. Nordestino pra ser exato :)

  • @cmon7539
    @cmon7539 6 років тому +400

The 1st recipe is the classic brigadeiro only that for birthday parties we usually make them small (around 10g) pass in the chocolate sprinkles and put on paper moulds.
The second recipe is RABANADA. It's not common to put Dulce De Leche in the middle. And we usually do this recipe at the end of the year parties.
The 3rd recipe is just an adaptation of the Brigadeiro with a sweet American Cheesecake (I especially never saw to sell here and never want to see).
A 4th banana recipe with dulce de leche in the form of churros I've never seen. And they probably invented it and said it's a Brazilian dessert.
The 5th recipe is the PAVÊ. (the name would be like 'to see').
The 6th recipe I've never seen.
There are no recipes originally Brazilians that take the Cream Cheese as an ingredient. Even because he arrived here has little time and is not a Brazilian ingredient. So Cheesecake is not a Brazilian dessert.

And you can't just shove a banana in it and claim it is brazilian. The only brazilian dessert there is brigadeiro. We eat fried bananas, parfait, sweet condensed milk pudding, brigadeiros, cartola, nega maluca, romeo&juliet, sagu, ambrosia, NOT this gelatin cheesecake stuff.

My best friend is Brazilian, going to his house his mom has showed me many recipes, as well as for my Brazilian teacher that has shown us much of her culture, so you probably don’t know *all* the recipes, but some are genuine, they just changed the names, like the rabanada and pavê. The reason why they include cream cheese, and cheesecake is because it’s an all-American thing so they just mixed the best of both worlds :)

It's funny how every time Buzzfeed tries to do anything Brazilian or Portuguese related, they're always waaaaay off than what it actually is like, now I just watch to see what they get right because that's a rarity. They don’t call the eggs ovos or the bread pão, and they spell Brasil with a Z. It’s a video for English speakers shopping in English-language grocery stores, and in those stores they sell doce de leite under its Spanish name.
