"System Design is one of those interviews that isn't just about practicing speed for 3 months, it really tests the progression you've made in your career as a software engineer, so the only way to beat it is to actually become a better engineer."
utsavvv sirr!! the key differentiating factor bw u and a lot of other tech gurus is that u actually give detailed examples while u explain! Big fan of these! Thanks sir!
I'm about 350 pages deep in Designing data-intensive applications. Man, is it good. So many headaches we could have avoided by reading this. The materialism dense, and the book itself is dense. I can only handle 20-30 pages a day. Glad you recommended it.
The way you explained made me fall in love with System Design. Anyways I am a Software Engineer in Gartner with 3yr of exp. Thanks for the video, it will definitely be a starting guide for me on system design.
You really went deep into the preparation strategy of System Design. Really nice and structured. I just started with DDIA today and this video popped up. Nice work man. I think now my strategy for preparing is all set! Thanks a lot 🙏 🙏 🙏
Love it, amazing... There is a slight error in the timestamps though, it says 'purpose of coding interview'. This video is the epitome of a summary of all online courses on system design. Thank you so much.
you engineer your videos and content with the same precision you must complete your work. your examples are just complicated enough to make me keenly listen while simple enough where I get the whole idea. youre an excellent content creator in this space and I look forward to seeing your channel grow!
I just like to say thanks to you Utsav, to dedicate your time to share your knowledge and experience with us. A really big thanks from Brazil to you!!!
Rich set of books suggestion in Show More section. Thanks for that. My experience with reading books have been that I generally tend to come across multiple repetitive content across many books, is there a strategy you have used when it comes to make most out of reading multiple books. Also which is one of you personal favorite in the List of books you suggested?
Hey Utsav. Could you share resources or make video like how to build system end to end real time ? How much time would it take to build if we are in time constraint like 6 months for interview prep
My luck is that I have found this series. Thanks Utsav!. What would be the approach to preparation for coding interviews while busy with day-to-day job works?
When you interviewed or got your job at Microsoft did you ask them for feedback about your interview? What did they like and didn't like? Or why they thought you will be a good fit?
Hi Utsav great content as usual question: what can be better: mix studying for coding & system design interviews (1 day/1 hr for coding and next 1 day/1 hr for system design) or focus on one part, finish it and switch to the other one? thanks!
I was actually waiting for this like I did for GOT :P. How do I get better at non-functional requirements. Calculating these huge numbers stumps me always.
Your video gives me so much motivatios. Love you sir ❤️. I just want to know what it takes to be a successful web developer. Please guide me. And is there any job opportunity available in big tech companies after be a web developer?
Your way of explaining things, and the kind of efforts you put to explain us these things is soooooo amazing and helpful!!!! Thank you so much!! A question ... How you organize everything to so much details..I have gone through notion template (from previous) ...it was so detailed . I so wish...I can organize my learning and track all areas like that.
Hi Utsav, Great content! Do you have any suggestions on system design materials for non web based applications? I was asked how to design a window manager in one of my interviews and had no clue how to approach such a question lol.
That sounds like low level design question. Focus on strong OOP concepts, design patterns and SOLID principles. I will be talking about those in the channel soon.
Hi Utsav, in your previous video you mentioned the coding interview would take about 70% of prep time for beginners, in a span of 3-6 months. How long should I prep for system design, if at all? The maximum time left is 30% but you mentioned it should take a year to prep for system design. 70% = 3-6 months, 30% = 1 year is not adding up for me.
"Non functional requirements" always makes me laugh. At the interview: "You'd be wise to hire me because I'm very good at making things non-functional." Oddly, I didn't get the job :(
You should be happy I am not walking around. I am generally way more animated when I talk. Sorry man, involuntary body movements talking about something exciting :) Can't help it.
This man's content is Gold as usual!!!!!
absolutely!
Utsavs' *blessing to everyone* -Part 2

Hello Utsav... thank you so much for this content. Do you have resources for Step 5: Build a few systems end-to-end on the cloud?
There exists 1 stupid guy who has disliked such a good video
No bullshit content❤️

At the interview: "You'd be wise to hire me because I'm very good at making things non-functional."
Oddly, I didn't get the job :(
What if you have only 3 days before your on-site loop? And you only have 1 YOE 🤧🤧
Bruh I’m not ready
Can a red green colorblind become a software engineer?
Yes you can! 100%.
Is it possible to Shake your head little less while you talk please. BTW content is awesome
You should be happy I am not walking around. I am generally way more animated when I talk. Sorry man, involuntary body movements talking about something exciting :) Can't help it.
Ustav: “recommend 1 year of preparation for a system design interview”
Me: “hmmm... I have about two days.. seems doable”
1 day for learn everything, 1 day to refine the strategy. ;)
When you have your interview lined up in about a month and Utsav tells you to prepare for at least a year 🙈
you can mine coins but not what utsav delivers... #topNotch
You have a textual tattoo on your hand in Hindi or Sanskrit i guess
Sanskrit
Can you speak Hindi😁
Thanks! This is very helpful
Thank You
