- A complete playthrough of Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder (ゴールデンアックス デスアダーの復讐) by Sega using Trix. Played on default difficulty and completed on one credit. Japan region version. The US version of the game is a bit harder to clear on one credit because you have to play through two more stages than the Japan and World versions. Although he lacks offensive magic Trix is the easiest character to achieve a 1CC with because of his ability to conjure up food.

Damn, this game is impressive! I would' ve loved to play this as a kid.

You really loved that Fire-Breathing Mantis Mount :) And those 3D deaths of the tree enemies were pretty cooL!
OMG, I have played all versions of Golden Axe, but this one! And it looks awesome.
The audio quality in this arcade game is INCREDIBLE!
The original arcade version of Golden Axe will always be the best version!!!

Nope not the one i played in the arcade.Besides that port to the console was a pale imitation by comparison :P

Overall though, I think I remember reading that the Mega Drive version fixed some things and extended the game.
Jamie Williamson If you say so.The one i played at a local mall arcade ran smooth.No glitches no nothing.Maybe some defective machines got out idk.But the one i played worked fine. :)

with that main character, this looks like a ninties street punk version of golden axe. I liked it when you 'tridented' that guy off his insect steed at the start - very cool move. Graphics are quite impressive in this game too. Great playthrough Merlin

Thanks. The graphics do look very nice. It's great in 4 player mode especially when you do the team attacks. The scorpions and mantis you can ride are pretty cool.
The scream of "Damnnnn!" that the enemy had made from 04:17 to 04:18 had me cracking up hard. ROFL.

@@PlanetZoidstar Yep. They used audio from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie and both Conan movies for this game.

Why was this never released on the Saturn?! It was designed as a 2D powerhouse and then they barely released any 2D games for it. The Sega 32 arcade board was basically the same hardware as the Saturn. Sega had a real propensity for dumb fuckery back then.
And instead we got the mediocre one on one fighting game that was Golden Axe: The Duel for it! Thanks Sega! (L.O.L.!)
Even the Dreamcast would have been fine.

MAN. If you missed out on indulging in this (as a kid), you were deprived. I spent a many of quarters pitchforking my way through this game!!! Why no home release though....I have always found that interesting.

That Boss who screams "Damn" at 4:15 is a ripped audio clip taken from Raphael in the first Ninja Turtles movie.
On 4:23 they ripped the sound of when Tatsu knocks out that Foot soldier also!
That woman at 1:50 who keeps screaming ''yaaaaaah'' is also a ripped audio clip from Grace Jones character ZULA in the second Conan movie Conan The Destroyer where after she has been let of her leash and gets on to her horse she rides of right after saying ''yaaaaaah''.
So they must of ripped off loads of movie audio clips that we are not aware of!!!
Certainly not complaining though it's a good game and prob my fave Golden Axe.

lol yeah i think there must be loads more. The male screaming death sound you hear constantly from 13:43 to 14:00 is another ripped audio clip taken from Sven Ole Thorsen's character Thorgrim in the 1st Conan movie where that giant spike goes right through his chest during the battle of the mounds after he smashes his hammer down onto what he thought was Conans head when it was in fact a trap that led to the spike impaling him.
Wildly impressive.
I hope Death Adder's army has a good burn unit.

I love this game
Here is a tip of easly killing Death Adder, if anyone don't know, now you will know, start the game, knock the enemy of the first mount pray mantis, till the scorpion dis mount the mantis mount the scorpion, keep mounting each new beast as you go along the game, last stage anyone will do, combo mantis or fire, when you reach Death Adder press attack and jump at the same time for power blow, do it 4 times till dizzy, go close to him and all you have to do is wack him only with normal attack, 🤗 when the monster shield is broken, if it is Trix do the power kick 4 times again and continue wacking him with normal attacks, the others will used the magic 4 times after the shield is broken and there you go 🤗
So many of the ideas were used later in Golden Axe III for the Genesis
Could easily be released as SEGA AGES for the Switch but apparently SEGA don't want to make anything from this game.

I could never consistently get past that armored skeleton guy in the arcade.
The original big arcade was much harder. This one, the bosses are too easy to beat.

unfortunately no, could be wrong but I think this version of golden axe never make it to consoles.

Golden Axe (We compare all versions of the game)
1.On my 4 player Cabinet, you play the two stages that were not chosen in the diverging paths prior to getting to Death Adder's keep. So this playthrough is missing two levels.
2.Why are you playing the Japanese version?
3.During the boss fight were he summons trees and then skeletons, if you leave one tree alive you won't have to fight the skeletons. Also, gold gives you health so you could have picked that up instead of casting healing apples during that boss fight.
Sorry for this very late reply! I prefer the shorter Japan version (IIRC the World version is the same length?). It seems strange to give you a choice of routes in the US version and then make you play them all anyway. It adds replay value if you don't see all the stages each time you play. As for why I played the Japan version I just felt like it. I used to live there and most of my playing in actual arcades has been in Japan. Also after the USA, Japan is the country with the next highest number of viewers of my channel. Thank you for the tip about that boss fight. I know about gold giving you health but sometimes when under pressure in a boss fight I might not do everything perfectly.
I prefer the original sound track.
