I grew up on MacGyver and while the science of a lot of it was a little nuts it awakened a love of science in me, I am now a science teacher with a BA in Bio Education and a MA in Physics Ed.
Absolutely. MacGyver and Col. Jack O'Neill. Iconic roles.
I think Indiana Jones and MacGyver share some of the same qualities. It is that particular sense of adventure that these two characters could bring to life. Along with Star Trek TNG, MacGyver was it for me, then SG1 later of course.
For some people who are dissing him: yes, he has put on weight - he's in his 70s and retired - I wonder what you will look like when you are at that age.
He has lost a lot of weight.

I will be happy if I'm still alive at aged 70 which is only 11 years and a 11 weeks away. The years seem to fly by.

How you choose to live out your senior years depends on what you eat…NO GMOs, only organic, run a marathon and definitely lift weights. Get rid of the middle of your body 😂 Life isn’t over…don’t forget to pray to Jesus Christ. For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son that whoever believes on Him will have eternal life. Life continues after death in Christ Jesus.
@@gingersnap5245 I've had chronic illness since the age of 15 which I'm blaming on a UFO encounter. But you're right about weights as it improves bone density.
My great grand mother was born in 1889, she saw the first plane, the first automobile, was a married woman when the Titanic sank, she went through two world wars as a nurse and her absolute hero was this guy on the sunday afternoon when she was going on her 100's. She never missed a McGyver episode.
So yes, he's a legend.

Kind of wild to think that someone born over 90 years before me and born in the 1800's enjoyed the same TV show I do.
He's still a legend in my mind and now in real life.

i would probably be as excited as him if I had the chance to speak with Richard Dean Anderson. MacGyver had a huge impact in my childhood. One of the best TV series ever.
I’m watching MacGyver right now and he still looks exactly the same. It’s kind of amazing how young he still looks at 73.
I'm 52..I still watch MacGyver and SG1 every month and , i think this will continue till i die...What a legend and he looks - sounds the same woow.. 🥰🥰

Finally I can hear his voice after 30 years ago.
It's crazy what only 30 years can do to us... That's 30 summers, 30 Winters and you in most cases can't even walk or run anymore only if you still alive.

I was raised on MacGyver and Startgate, but I admire Mr. Anderson most by the relationship he has with his daughter. No matter how old they get, they'll always be daddy's little girl.

I still love MacGyver. I was a kid in the 80s when it was on, but I still appreciate the physicality, analytical & tactical skills of the character. He’s still cool. Idc what age. He should do voiceover work. His voice is sharp. MacGyver is on Heroes x Stargate was another favorite throughout my teens. I miss TV like that.

He has only physically changed, like I look into his eyes, I see his smile, I listen to his voice, I listen to his can-do, confident, I take no shits attitude, I look at that man getting interviewed, and I still see Colonel/Brigadier General Jack O'Neill (Two L's).
This man has inspired me, has made me laugh and smile, has given me motivation, determination and ambition.
RDA will always mean so much to me, him and the rest of the Stargate Cast.

I am Sri Lankan🏝 and I'm just 17. These days I'm watching Macgyver and I really really love it. Macgyver is a hero. I can believe this is him because his eyes, lip, smile, and actions are the same as earlier. Whatever, I love him. you are a real legend.

Wow he's really slimmed down. He's looking good for his age. A few more gym sessions, and he'll be almost back to his old Jack self if that makes sense. But yeah, what a legend. Richard has inspired me in more ways than one.
I just hope the slimming down indicates an improving health, rather than declining health...

I understand as long we're breathing we will get older but growing up in the 80's seeing stars at a very young age get older today can be a bit somewhat sad but happy knowing they are still with us. People in their seventies now will be the new 70's as they will always be seen as young in mind and in heart. In the 80's my mother was very young as well and stars (or just people in general) who were younger than her always appeared just young and when she died at 62 over a decade ago, sttars such as Richard Dean Anderson or David Hasselhoff will always appear young to me even at 70 to 73.

You can see how humble he is to praise. But he shouldn't underestimate the impact his work has made to people in their lives, including my own.
He was my first childhood crush and my hero. It's hard to tell if he inspired me to be a lifelong tinkerer and designer or it just resonated with me because it was already in me. And I was also inspired by the pacifism of the character. :)

As you get older, eat well, move, and drink water. I can't stress enough the importance of drinking water.

Love Anderson and Tapping, and the rest of SG1. The level of authenticity they bring to their roles has helped transform me to another world while going through cancer treatment. I am 65 and it difficult. But in my mind, you guys and your work have brought so much joy and ❤ in my little world of imagination!

My biggest hero ever, growing up with Stargate and MacGyver was the best. Dutch TV is still broadcasting MacGyver. I recently watched Atlantis and am now busy watching SG1 at season 7. This man will always be my hero! ❤

Richard Dean Anderson comes across as humble, everyman type. It's like he is for science fiction what Steven Curtis Chapman is for the Christian Music Industry. I think he has a better feel than most for just basic, uh, relating within the industry (and genre - science fiction, not very relatabe, tho it's tried very much to be so since Lost In Space and Star Trek TOS). The texture of life and what he does and his place in it all and what it's good for. An everyman patriarch (in role on stage at least) who as a workman in his craft appreciates both his audience and the industry he's in without getting too weird, detached, arrogant, artsy or whatnot. Not that there is anything wrong with art, but supposed 'high art' and 'everyman' don't always mix in a real or relevant way.
