Paraphrasing but I think he said in a previous interview that he hopes players don't misread his "easy going misdemeanour" and see it as a weakness. I think some of them turned up today and did exactly that. I don't see him calling players out publicly, they will just stop getting chances and find themselves headed to the exit door. We had a bounce when Ten Hag was sacked. They can't bounce twice. Showed their true colours in the first game for the new coach. I bet Amorim was looking at Rashford, Bruno and Casemiro and thinking "I could pay the entire Sporting squad on your salaries".
I mentioned it many times in these comments and I'll mention it again today. Amorim needs to keep the external chatter abt the team at bay AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. His duty isn't to please the media and followers, his job is to improve these players and build a strong, winning team. I jst saw his quote now talking abt how much he's had to do interviews & answer to ppl rather to focus on his team and i hv to say I appreciate that he has that awareness. He's believing in these players and he's tryna to bring everyone together, while others out here are doing the opposite. The temperament of the manager WILL BECOME THE TEMPERAMENT OF THE TEAM ITSELF! He will need to focus on the job at hand so that the players can also just focus on the job at hand and we'll be better. It's the 1st game.
These players are like Sodom and Gomorrah they will never repent of their sins Amorim shouldn't waste his time trying to teach people who don't want to learn
Just watched the post match interview and really excited by this manager. He gets it so well and his communication is the best I have seen from any manager at united including sir Alex. He knows exactly what to say to get the media, fans, board, players onboard whilst being very real about the positives and negatives.
@SleutherStrode it removes one big criticism of the last manager though doesn't it. Also if fans feel like they're in the loop they are likely be more patient and give more time. And time is what is needed.
Same old utd. I think a complete restart in player management is needed to take this club back to top 4. Reduce wages, improve recruitment and professionalism. As fans we’ve known for a long time that we inflate player wages, and this has been happening since fergie left, and left us with this final product. Hopefully Amorin and the team can change this, they only need time and a set of balls to follow through with it
But how do we get rid of the problem players on ridiculous contracts? You know, like Rashford who does bare minimum and who won't be able to get it anywhere else! It's a vile culture.
@JuliaRichards I guess it’s about being stricter with contract negotiation and bit being afraid to lose players, which may be the result of attempting to run football like a business (trying to retain player value) but failing because it leads to situations like this
I think Amorim make a few mistakes with the starting line up tbh but ultimately the players couldn't cope with Ipswich's high press. The lack of quality was horrible to watch.
It's so easy to control United and the game, no matter who you are because United has no ball possession retention, United doesn't care to have the ball or not and whoever has the ball, controls the game. The big Ipswich Town could've finished the first half winning the match because it deserved score at least twice and United in the 2nd half got the ball but had no aggressiveness so it's the same.
Remember ten hag left a very good technical young squad. Better than most utd managers left. Yoro, hojlund, garnacho, mainoo, mazroui, de ligt, martinez, mount, onana. Apparently ten hag wasted 600 mil when most of his signings have worked and are really good players. He also promoted so many youngsters aswell
I didn’t see any of that open training session in the game today. I do however subscribe to the theory that it’s better we didn’t win or at least win easy. He got an early insight into how bad some of these players are mentally and it showed on his face all through the game.
At least Amorim knows that amad has to start every game now. Rather us draw this game and keep amad starting for rest of season than win this game and drop him like eth did
Luke shaw looked over weight when he come on and you could see at full time how tired Man U players were compared to Ipswich team shows how unfit the players are
brothers! When Ruben arrived at Sporting, that club was in chaos, it hadn't been a champion for 19 years, he turned that club into a Swiss watch. He was hired to do the same at MU, give him time and the right players and you will have MU winning championships and playing the best football in the world.
Thanks...there is a big connection between Sporting & Utd fans...we wish Sporting well. Amorim will get time but my question for you is...when he first started at Sporting how quickly was he able to remove players he didnt want & buy the players who fitted his style? Did he have any problems when he tried to remove players?
@@Account_CB Obviously they are different realities!! Sporting is a very big club, but players are much easier to send away from the club due to their commercial value, so as soon as Rúben had the chance, he got rid of the players who didn't buy his idea! He simply doesn't work with players who are upset, spoiled or don't do what he wants. Rúben looks like a lamb, but don't be fooled... He is a Lion defending his ideas and believes that this is how he will win. It was like that at Sporting, it will be like that at MU
Rasmus and zirkzee I'm worried about. I don't think they are up to it. Mount is poor. Bruno was average. He is not a odegaard type player. We need better. Rashford looking like a sulky brat when he come off. Sick of the sight of him tbh
New manager, new system of play, it's about learning to walk before you can run - if it were so easy to restructure a team and how they play, all clubs would be top clubs. Of course, it will take at least six months to a year of practice and player replacements, before you can begin to reap the fruits of Amorim's work.
I wonder how this team would perform: Onana Yoro. De ligt. Martinez Mazroui. Ugarte. Mainoo. Dalot Amad. Mount Hojlund Youthful. Energetic. Lots of pace. Then you still have Garnacho, Bruno, rashford off the bench.
Ruben Amorim had a better results today than Ole did , because Ole won his first 7 games and got sacked, but Ruben Amorim got a draw against a promoted team in his first game. DID HE REALLY SAY THAT????? WTF!!!!’n
LOL. Under Ten Haag, you slaughter Bruno for long hero hail mary's, now he has 92% passing completed and you slaughter him for only passing it 5 yards. You have Amad with that pace and dribbling skills and you want to see him play centrally?! :D Mate, there is a reason you've played the game, but didn't make it, you have no clue what you are talking about. You just twist it to slaughter them. It's a tough away game, other teams struggled there and you expect to slaughter them. Look how we (Liverpool) struggled in Southampton. You need to be excellent and United is far from it.
I know it sounds crazy but I think the players at the club have given up, not on the manager but being a United player. They’re tired of the negativity and want to run away from the pressure that comes with playing for them his club. They want to leave but the club wont sell them, ineos need to be ruthless and sell rashford, bruno, dalot, zirkzee, antony, rasmus, and the rest of these mid players that can’t even run for the team forget actually playing well
Underwhelmed but I’m here to see how we develop! No point being too stressed with the result and performance. What I like from Amorim is his decision making with the substitutions and his view of the game of where we are lacking etc
I had us losing this today and if not for Onana we could have. I won’t point to the new system or new manager. This is the kind of game we switch off in and this is the kind of result we’ve gotten in games like these for years. What worries me is we have another quality coach and if the players don’t show the performance levels and football intelligence required to play the style of football the manager wants, the fans won’t be patient and will call for his head too. I’m in for a long-term project under him just as I was under Ten Hag. We’re still 3-4 years away from challenging for the league if we don’t complete the squad turnover. I maintain, Chelsea got that part right: overhaul the squad quickly and get a good coach in to build from there.
Even Bruno knows that the players were at least part of the problem when he said it's easier to get rid of the manager than the players. Ironic and sad
The fact that Ed Sheeran can gatecrash a post match manager interview shows that no one fears us, no one respects us..... can you imagine Sheeran doing that with Pep after a 1-1 draw???
Based on what(definitely not last game though he has been unstable this season)?. You see the games through tinted mark goldbridge lenses. I can assure you Amorim felt way worse with the performances of Evans, De Ligt(YES, he absolutely sucked yesterday, Mark Goldbridge has a huge bias towards some of the players, it's insane), Rashford, Garnacho, Erikson and Casemiro. Many of these player will not be part of the team or play in the position they did, Amorim was testing different positions, players, how players adapted and their physical parameters across the game. Worst player this season has been probably Rashford but Garnacho is not far from him at all.
Bruno had 92% pass percentage. The highest this season, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the highest ever with an united shirt. I really enjoyed his performance. Highly disagree with mark here.. I want him to play more like this!
I wasn't expecting any style today but I expected to win because it's Ipswich. However Ipswich played well, were so much more physical. We decided not to press as a team but I still felt there was way less intensity in our mid block than there should've been. Chelsea 04/05 we were not

Nonsense that they weren't trying. They did what was asked to the best of their ability. Their best unfortunately is not good enough. As Amorim said, they were thinking too much and you could see it.
Sick of people saying "hater" when they're called out. It's dumb and one dimensional. Bruno is paid more than these people will ever see and doesn't perform. Twice this season he's had a corner in the last minute to steal the game and wasted it, like he does week in week out. Stop fanboying and start opening your eyes. Same with Rashford
I can just see in 3-4 months time, an article will come out with quotes from a club insider that players find it too hard adapting to a new formation and want Ruud back. This team needs a reset and we need to give Amorim time.
It’s bitter sweet for me. Hate when United don’t win a football game but on the long run this was the best outcome. Reality has sunk in and he knows how useless some of these players really are now. @@johnhill2813 He had some good touches and kept it tidy had one shot that he should have done much better with but you're being too overly critical Zirkzee wasn't the issue today neither did he have enough time to make an impact.
You could visibly see Amorin realizing he made a mistake leaving Sporting.
It's also incredible disgusting how the commentary team kept saying that this was a "good start" to Amorin's era at United. This proves that the English media had no problem with the players or club, they had a problem with ETH.
I think the players proved, ETH was not the problem. They turned up for Ruud but immediately lost their ability to play today.
Disgusting and disgraceful. Idk how much more I can take. This club has been exhausting to support.
Imagine backing up Bruno/Rashford/Dalot/Erickson/Casmiro/Evans. as a future players.. Goodluck.
Remove Casemiro from this list. Garnacho, Hojlund and Zirkzee are also part of a massive issue with scoring goals and keeping the ball.

That may be his downfall

If the GK is getting man of the match then by definition the defenders had a bad game.
I think Evans had a bad game but Maz was decent and De ligt was okay the biggest problem was our DMs losing the midfield
Defending isn't just about the defenders. We conceded from outside the box. That's largely a midfield problem
Defending starts from the front our front line and midfield was getting passed around like they weren't there
@d.k9938 yeah, okay fud. And it's not the forwards fault that we don't score enough because attack starts from the back. Better yet, where's McTominay??? Let's blame McTominay...
We seem to be the only epl team that can barely string 5 passes together.
Be patient with the Manager many of this players have to go in the Summer
So why did we fire the manager make it make sense 😊

Is that why you said 5-0 goldbridge because the manager needs time 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Wake up he will be the next one out the door
He won't survive for long.
Our ball retention must be the worst in the league.
Horrible. Absolute horror
I agree 💯
These players are like Sodom and Gomorrah they will never repent of their sins Amorim shouldn't waste his time trying to teach people who don't want to learn
Just watched the post match interview and really excited by this manager. He gets it so well and his communication is the best I have seen from any manager at united including sir Alex. He knows exactly what to say to get the media, fans, board, players onboard whilst being very real about the positives and negatives.
Communication doesn’t win you games or trophies though mate
@JuliaRichards I guess it’s about being stricter with contract negotiation and bit being afraid to lose players, which may be the result of attempting to run football like a business (trying to retain player value) but failing because it leads to situations like this
It's better to start with low expectations than to end with low expectations.
I think Amorim make a few mistakes with the starting line up tbh but ultimately the players couldn't cope with Ipswich's high press. The lack of quality was horrible to watch.
Who are you ?
That was the 2nd lowest distance covered by united this year btw.
😢😢😢
Give him time. What do you mean reality check! He would’ve known these players won’t adapt in one minute!
Definitely need to sell at least 8 players next summer
Would anyone be interested to buy them? 😅
to start cas and ericksen in the midfield is a serious mistake; to start rashford as a 9 is a serious mistake.
He said he started the players he had time to train with. Doubt we will see that starting line up again.
Agreed! Ugarte or Mainoo should have started with Cas and as for Rashford…. I think he confirmed what many of us already knew!
@@RealAStar1 Mainoo is only just coming back from Injury.
He'll learn soon.
Any who thought anything was going to change are idiots. New manager same championship quality players.
Amorim was good with changing the things.. he will find right combination soon.. untill then expect such performances
I didn’t see any of that open training session in the game today. I do however subscribe to the theory that it’s better we didn’t win or at least win easy. He got an early insight into how bad some of these players are mentally and it showed on his face all through the game.
Should have brought the dporting team not just the coaches
At least Amorim knows that amad has to start every game now. Rather us draw this game and keep amad starting for rest of season than win this game and drop him like eth did
Onana was world class
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Luckily for Amorim because he actually saved him from the embarrassment. 😂😂😂
Can't stand theses players. They're all playing for them self's and that life style.
Rashford didnt even challenge for aerial 50/50s, useless
Probably needs a holiday after his holiday 😅😂
@@alistairpayne5357 true, honestly I cant deal with his laziness
Luke shaw looked over weight when he come on and you could see at full time how tired Man U players were compared to Ipswich team shows how unfit the players are

They are so unfit that even hurts to watch
Yeah but when erik wanted to work them harder for fitness they through the towel in
The club needs a complete overhaul
😂😂😂😂 keep dreaming.. man utd are finished 😂 you need a whole revamp mate..
If that's the players trying were in more trouble than anyone realised.
Can't score goals can have any manager they like until you get goalscorers and get rid of half these lazy players
Yes. There are going to be growing pains
Rashford smiling with the Ipswich players while Bruno was in tears is very telling
Why sack Ten hag for this
What a F stupid comment.
Cause he was a horrible manager. Let's not rewrite history
Ten Hag played the exact same tactics that never worked for 18 months straight. He had to go.
No coach can help this team. EtH destroyed this team with signings.
I wonder how this team would perform:
Onana
Yoro. De ligt. Martinez
Mazroui. Ugarte. Mainoo. Dalot
Amad. Mount
Hojlund
Youthful.
Can we please now say that the Rashford as a striker plan is now dead and it’s debatable whether he should be in the team!!!
It's not debatable..it's a big fat NO more rashford!🙄👹
No no no guys we need to give hugs and kisses to Marcus, don't forget he's key part of the team, think of his contract 😊
The irritating thing is he can do it when he wants to,as he's proved in the past.
He's lost his hunger and that can only be United's fault.

Time to stop sacking top-rated managers and rebuild the squad.
Can't wait for the Sméagol Gollum transformation that Amorim is about to go through... Remember Moyes..
And Ole and Jose, Ten Hag was the only one who didn't age terribly because he was already bald 😅
They’re really trying alright. Trying our patience!
Ruben wants intensity. Good luck with that with some of these players. Woodward, Arnold, Murtough and the Glazers have led this club into demise.
And the Glazers are still here, depressingly.
Intensity? Pressing in our own half and diallo as a wingback?! He showed only fear and being passive.
Sacked the wrong guy again
🚨 Amorim needs time but I honestly think this job is a bit much this early on for him
I know dalot was one of our best players last season but when is it going to be mentioned that he's been by far our worst player this season?
He won player of the season at RB, this season we've mostly used him at LB. Also I think he has been overplayed at this point and needs rest
Funny hearing Mark say "where are your standards?!" considering how hard he was defending what Ten Hag was serving up
Bruno had 92% pass percentage. The highest this season, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the highest ever with an united shirt. I really enjoyed his performance. Highly disagree with mark here.. I want him to play more like this!
Which game where you watching, he was wasteful to say the least. I only see him doing fancy flicks that don’t come off most of the time

I wasn't expecting any style today but I expected to win because it's Ipswich. However Ipswich played well, were so much more physical. We decided not to press as a team but I still felt there was way less intensity in our mid block than there should've been. Chelsea 04/05 we were not
I think Dalot is burnt out, not only has he played nearly every game recently he has also played out of position most of the time
He's just awful

I must say im so happy this happened earlier than later cause Amorim was all smiles all week and i kept saying smile now cause soon as the first game ends, your smile will disappear, then he picks this team and i was pissed but i knew he won't get a result and and reality will hit him smack in the face.. also a message to INEOS who said he won't get any signings.. 😂😂 nice bluff.
need a central character who could carry the player inside the game. a leader, real leader.
How many more games should we give Zirkzee before the new player chance wears off? Half a season, one full season?
Zirkee not a problem
Judge him next year I believe. Especially considering the manager that signed him is already sacked
A lot more time than we've given him. Which striker won't struggle in this system??
Nonsense that they weren't trying. They did what was asked to the best of their ability. Their best unfortunately is not good enough. As Amorim said, they were thinking too much and you could see it.
I dont get your " reality check"...?? you said 5-0. I dont get your reasoning sometimes
Yep You're almost there
Sick of people saying "hater" when they're called out. It's dumb and one dimensional. Bruno is paid more than these people will ever see and doesn't perform. Twice this season he's had a corner in the last minute to steal the game and wasted it, like he does week in week out. Stop fanboying and start opening your eyes. Same with Rashford
Definitely missing Lisandros passing from the back
So long as hes allowed to do his job we will be fine. We all know the quality of player isnt up to scratch
I’ve seen that look in someone before and it isn’t anger. It’s disappointment. These players should really be ashamed of themselves.
