It took longer to find my T25 Torx and after I found it... 10 minutes done. Thanks for sharing!

I need to check my sister's Tiguans air filter because she says it doesn't have the power it used to. I would have figured out how to remove the air filter but I want to watch a video so I know what tools to bring. Phillip's bits, torx bits, allen bits, cordless drill with extension. One thing you never do is to use any kind of power tool when reinstalling any screws, bolts & nuts until threaded in a couple turns otherwise you take the chance of cross threading it. It doesn't matter how experienced you are. That air filter didn't look that dirty and I would have kept it in longer. The manual may say to replace it every so many mile, but it just depends on road conditions and how quickly it gets dirty. That filter was slightly cleaner on one end and could have been turned 180° before reinstalling it. Most air filters get dirty in a certain area because of how and where the air is directed into the air cleaner housing.
I'm not trying to diss this video, just giving my 44 years of experience as a motorcycle technician and machinist. A couple people commented about the engine bay and engine should be cleaned, but in reality that wouldn't help the performance of the engine for one reason is that it's a liquid cooled engine. Now if it's an air/oil cooled engine like the original VW Beetle, Karmann Ghia etc., it's important the engine is kept clean along with clean oil and the correct amount.

Why is that engine so dirty? Looks like you sprayed it with sand or dirt. You should clean it up first!

Good luck keeping your engine bay always clean :p

I agree with cleaning the area around the air filter assembly prior to disassembly to ensure no dirt ends up in the air cleaner snorcal leading into the intake. Keeping your engine clean doesn't make it run or perform better because it's liquid cooled which controls the engine temperature. Now if it were an air cooled engine like the old VW Beetle, then keeping the engine clean is necessary for proper cooling. The rest of the components under the hood don't have to be clean to perform properly except for the battery terminals, air filter, oil & filter and all other fluids. Proper and regular maintenance ensures a car will last thousands of miles not keeping the engine bay and engine clean, but a must when doing any maintenance or repairs.
