  • - Tuberculosis is a type of bacterial infection that mainly affects the lungs.
    - Tuberculosis is transmitted through the air when infected people spread small droplets containing bacteria when coughing, sneezing or talking.
    - Bacteria can travel to other parts of the body such as the kidneys, bones and brain.
    Symptoms and diagnosis:
    - Common symptoms of pulmonary tuberculosis include persistent cough, fatigue, weight loss, fever, and chest pain.
    - Tuberculosis is usually diagnosed via chest examinations and bacterial tests such as sputum culture or polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing.
    Treatment and Prevention:
    - Tuberculosis is treated with a complex of anti-tuberculosis drugs that must be taken for 6-9 months.
    - Tuberculosis vaccines, such as the BCG vaccine, are effective in preventing serious forms of the disease in children.
    - The main prevention consists in the early detection of cases, their comprehensive treatment and improvement of living conditions.
