No introductions. No speeches. No condolences. No remembrances. No setting up the scene. No politics. No background info. Six extraordinary actor/singers singing Sondheim. That is what I call a tribute.
I hope there's at least a soundboard recording of this show. At this point in time who does a major Sondheim tribute/celebration with some of the biggest names/voices, and doesn't record it? Yeah, I know, I'm asking a lot... :^ ]
Among the very best of The Sondheim interpreters on the podium. I’ve had the great privilege of working with him on both “Sweeney Todd” and the 75th Birthday Gala at the New Amsterdam Theatre (unforgettable).
Aren't these the orchestrations from the Théâtre Du Chátelet production? I'll always prefer the original chamber orchestrations, but these arrangements work well in a concert setting.
A panel of excellence, truly. But I will say, it is always a delight to hear Sierra's soprano.
it was a perfect evening......generous, classy, and a true tribute to the genius that was and is Sondheim.
The American Musical .... a gift to the world
Gosh, I can only imagine how moving this was to see in person. Some of the best live performers. So so jealous but also thankful I can see it here!
I'm very glad I went to this. Truly a special night.
I was there-it was breathtaking!
How very lucky you are indeed.
So beautiful this song...such a gift he left us all...
Glorious ! Thank you

Sierra Boggess as Dot would be a definitive performance of the role.

Giving the last line to Patti LuPone was the right move.
I need them in a movie now
