I so admire what you are doing. To leave LA and take on this gigantic project is a work of pure passion. I found your channel today and have been binge watching from the beginning. BTW, thank you for storing a chronological playlist on your site. I wish more UA-camrs would do that.

I"m dying,. "I'm not sure how much he slept.".. lolol.. I knew about his friendship with Mary Shelley from a movie about her ages ago and so it's so amazing to hear he was at Hopwood Hall too and wrote that great poem!!!

Once he is settled in and has some spare time, Hopwood should commision a portrait of himself in the same style as the Lord Byron portrait and have it placed above a fireplace in his new home.

Is the restoration of the Hall a lifelong commitment for you, Hopwood? It seems like it very well could be! What a story you have there. So grateful that you're documenting it

"The smiles that win, the tints that glow, But tell of days in goodness spent, A mind at peace with all below, A heart whose love is innocent!"
Byron's "She walks in beauty" could be analogous to Hopwood Hall, herself. Her grace & deportment coming back from sleep.

hey hoppy, i had seen a video of your castle with your family crest on wood panels. it was filmed by a group of guys that basically broke in and roamed around with a camera, it looked very different than the crest you once displayed.
glad your castle is shaping up so well.

I am glad that a great deal of the 15th century timbers still survive in part of the house. I hope the weather and insects have not damaged it much. Great video. Thanks.

Hey Hopwood, loving your vids, especially this one ❤. I discovered the story of Hopwood Hall thirty years ago whilst researching Byron & was overawed to know he visited & that he would’ve known our family name so well. I think ‘Lord Byron kinda things’ would’ve involved one or two of the housemaids………! Keep up the good work, you’re doing an amazing job 🎉

    Hi Hopwood,
It is wonderful to be able to investigate each room in turn especially the oldest parts of the hall and intriguing what secrets it slowly reveals, it gives so much fun researching everything in detail that you discover doesn't it?
You will learn such a lot from all you discover, I hope despite the set backs from time to time, you will learn to love the hall more and more, I'm sure you will.
Thanks once again for a very interesting update xx

Hey Mr Hopwood, perhaps you could see if any film makers want to use parts of the Hall for their movies. Perhaps they could do parts up and decorate for their takes. Of course I am pretty sure it is a Listed building but some alterations could be temporary and others permanent.

What happened to the bed that was in that room? You showed a picture of an ornate bed with wood carvings and I got the impression that Byron slept in it, or if not it was part of the room at some point in time.

Hi Sintara - yes that was the bed that Byron slept in. It was auctioned off in the 1920s after the Hopwood family had left the Hall. We are still hopeful to track it down someday!

Lord Byron's only legitimate child was Ada Lovelace. She is credited as being the first computer programmer. A Charles Babbage devised a mechanical machine for calculating equations. She devised a programme to run it. To this day there is the Lovelace Medal which was established by the British Computer Society in 1998, and is presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the understanding or advancement of computing. It is the top award in computing in the UK. Sir Tim Berners-Lee won it in 2006 for inventing the World Wide Web.

Yey my favorite 18th Century Playboy Poet Good Old Lord Byron ~ Secret Room later used by Byron's hot babes ~ "That's probably why the floor is sagging in here" 🤣😆😅😂🤭 This episode of Hopwood blew my brains out ~ this place is beyond old ~ Hopwood Do you think you could sleep in this room without freaking out / nightmares ~ I would have O.D.'d already on Legacy ~ still have family pieces handmade by my heritage in 1850's but that seems like it would be silly stuff compared to Hopwood. Is Hopwood Hall now in a Heritage Trust or how does this work ~ cannot fathom the whole thing 🏚️⏳🤯
Nothing is Before Hopwood or ∅ ≤ B.H.
Curious ~ Do you look like any of your ancestors ?
P.S. Do not think that tiny opening was the real door to the 'bathing' room. Somehow thinking the servant's entrance was another passage for guests by which to enter after dinner & that servants had a yet to be seen door entering the main guestroom. ❔❔❔

When I first saw that bedroom it reminded me of the mediaeval cruck framed buildings which you get in N W England. I did a course on Richard III's era, which is when this building style was popular - mid to late 1400's. Here is a youtube presentation ua-cam.com/video/eIW6BbFSh_Q/v-deo.html&ab_channel=WithaLens. Isn't the same as this, just has similarities. Thank you for the videos - I am enjoying them immensely. Subscriber numbers keep growing - looks like others are enjoying the vids as well
