You could be paid with product for your work until the government made it illegal. Capitalism is a fake name for the merchant's art and it works always and everywhere. It works under monarchies it worked under communism and it does work under Socialism as you can see.

Which is the reality in the world. Only USA has had a stagnating minimum wage 😂😂😂. Minimum wage increases as much was the inflation rate.
If you receive 50 dollars, at the end of the month there will be 1700. If you receive 5, at the end of the month you will have 770 left. And in this case, since I live in a country where the minimum wage is 5 euros, I guarantee you that at the end there will not be with 700 euros left, especially because that is the price of rent for a two-bedroom apartment in a small town.
If minimum wage will be 50$, your cup of coffee will cost 100$.
Why is that? In my country (Canada) minimum wage varies from province to province but ours is presently 15,25$ (will increase to 15,75$ in may 3.3%). Coffee is 2,70$ and in May it will be 2,75$. Your math is not mathing😂😂😂

Why do these people think that even fast food companies are leaving California or why they’re replacing people with machines - because yes they can increase there prices to meet the increases economy to pay for jobs a chimp can do but they’re not willing to pay people that. McDonalds is not a difficult job, it is for high school and college students & tbh that still live at home or with a thousand roommates. I don't think this guy knows what he is talking about! If a company profits say 63 million ( the workers ) should get a percentage of the profit as bonus. Instead of people being so greedy and forcing people to work full time jobs just above the poverty line. If everyone profited from the company they work hard for to earn the money you should get a shore of the profits.

Dude, that’s what this shows you. Imagine in the 50’s a house was $16k-ish. Pensions handled by employers had a guarantee and a reason to stay at one place not only for the benefits but because of the opportunity to go up. We don’t have that, I have friends from many brackets poor and rich, the education system in the place I grew up and then finished high school in a wealthier town was insane, the options of what is offered is huge and would have given many of the students in my old city would have made and impact to change how life would’ve changed generation’s. How much did things change really for people less than 100 years compared to now? $100k isn’t anything when a house in 1950 with inflation is about $200k+ in todays money. Companies shouldn’t just go and bump up prices because then $100k means nothing, wouldn’t it be better to have price stick and allow more to be bought? No. The companies have enough income to never worry. And yet victimhood is allowed by them. You know why? Because the wealthy never want to be equal. Having people suffer is what it breaks down to, that pedestal is for the ability to not have new relationships be build but to have someone stay low due to the status of being seen in a certain way and special. Otherwise what is the point? The point is that we shouldn’t have to rely on someone else but that’s exactly why nothing will ever be better for newer generations because without criminals and false imprisonment millions would be jobless. The smartest thing the wealthy did is make the middle class feel it’s being attacked by poor people when it’s the wealthy watching a coliseum fight when it should be them figuring out a new way to work in there world. So just understand that the people in power will never allow equality because it will make people aware that manipulation has been done for wealthy benefits.

You and most of your comments are just missing the fact that prices respond differently- not one to one, especially at the labor price floor. Labor are often the smallest share of costs. *everyone* is basically under paid so raising the minimum wage will also increase your wage pressures. The extent to which prices DO respond is actually an opportunity for more businesses to come and and respond to the NEW demand that all workers have. Income inequality has become so bad that we basically need to to retool and rebalance many aspects of our economy to accommodate reasonable living standards for full time workers and families. The burdened cost of living in California and most of the USA is close to $50/hr when including health care, taxes, inflation and future inflation, retirement, etc. when people don’t get that they either commit crime or suffer. Both of which is more expensive than paying them honestly.
I remember when there was no minimum wage. Companies competed for the best employees by offering a decent wage and were ‘open to discussion’.
