- This is how I made a koi fish mosaic from broken Fiestaware. The border is made from broken Currier & Ives pieces.

Thanks for watching!
Nice job, I think grouting would make it pop and then cover with epoxy if you want.
I really loved and appreciated this video. Your tips were an added bonus. The video was just long enough. Your voice and camera work were done very well. I loved the product info. I am READY to start my very first mosaic! Thank you.
Could I put grout on and then the Glaze Coat? If so, what kind of grout do you use?
Thank you for the real what works what doesn't experience. I love how your project came out.
Put a stocking (use tape to hold stocking to hose)on the end of the vacuum hose, to catch broken tiles.
Beautiful piece! Use an old credit card--I noticed the card you were using was an old insurance card, they are just laminated paper which is why it came apart. Credit cards are solid plastic and won't do that.
Beautiful!
That is beautiful - thank you for sharing how to do this. I would suggest using some wood strips screwed together to make a frame around it if you want to keep the edge sharp.
A hunk of discarded pantyhose or nylon stocking that is rubber banded over the vacuum nozzle will make loose pieces easier to retrieve and put back in place. ☺
BeachsideHank That’s a fantastic idea! I’ll remember that for the next mosaic.
Great idea!
You did a beautiful job of exposing your technique. Thank you for sharing.
If you're going to tile on wood you should coat it wit wood sealer. Water + wood = falling apart eventually.
I appreciate this style of mosaic where you fit your tile chips close together. It creates a wonderful effect. (I hate seeing too much grout...usually seen in hobbyist's mosaics). Lovely job. I've been thinking about using resin instead of grout, so I'm glad to see your project. Thanks for making this tutorial.
Hello Jara, you cut a litle pieces, In this form is more eassy, more rapid, same result, and very cheap. Tanke you Jara. Ana from Argentina
Love the tip about the Saran wrap.
This is beautiful, you did a great job. Thank you for sharing this. =)
Tresisme1 thank you! ❤️
I agree, it's beautiful*
Really great, and love the epoxy finish. Thankyou.
Oh and always glue and screw hardi backer or cement board to wood then tile. Wood expands and contracts daily and will not keep the adhesion for long.
Lovely!
What a fantastic project! Thank you so much for this tutorial. I've only done relatively small projects, but this method could be used as well. I'm also primarily used to grouting. This is something to try. Beautifully done!
Excellent!! Thank you!! Already a mosaiker, but Inspired in a totally new directions!!
This is absolutely gorgeous!
You do beautiful work. Thank you for your helpful video. I am greatly appreciative for your informative video.
Looks great, giving me courage to try!!!
Very nice. I'm sure a black background would make the lighter tile pop out more. Excellent job. Good food for thought.
Had the same thought
Great job! It turned out beautiful! Congratulations!
Just gorgeous! Great video! Thank you!
Beautiful piece of work.
Beautiful project!
I do not shop at Hobby Lobby.
Jerry's
Why?
@@GodzHarleyGirlStudiothere are other reasons, but one of the weirdest is the ancient artifact smuggling scandal, where the Hobby Lobby founders bought undocumented and potentially looted cuneiform tablets from Iraq for their Bible Museum. In the process, they lost extremely valuable information about the artifacts' origins, destroying some of Iraq's history and cultural heritage.
This was very Handy and useful. Good Video and Keep up the good Work and for All the beginners very helpful...
Absolutely beautiful
I think it looks great too ❤
Use,aluminum tape on sides before epoxy. Works great!!
Thank you for the tip!
Lovely...thanks for sharing
Enjoyed your video, great instruction and tips, AND your mosaic is beautiful!
Very nice! Love your design. I feel inspired and I have a tub full of broken antique dishes.
Awesome tutorial and well explained. Great job!
Use stucco tape or double sided flex seal with a temporary wooden frame
I broke my grandmother's teapot...this looks like a good how to...she made it look not so messy...I would have to wear a hairnet ..

Congratulations! Your piece looks great!
Have a great weekend!
P.S.
Don't forget to wear glasses or goggles while you cut glass or crockery.
Thank you! And yes, I forgot to mention wear safety glasses! Lol
beautiful
Thank you! 😊
So the epoxy acts basically as a clear grout and creates a glossy top coat overall? Have you also used regular grout before? If so, what did you like/dislike about it?
You did such a beautiful job on this and it's quite large! I think it'd take me foreverrrr...lol 😍
Thank you! I'm sorry I'm just now responding. Yes, it was a beautiful top coat and it turned out better than I could imagine. I've never used regular grout in mosaic form (I've used it to tile floors). I just didn't want to worry about making sure all my pieces were the same height for grouting. So maybe just out of laziness I used epoxy? 😊
@@jarachristensen8670 I don't think that you have to have them all exactly the same height. I've seen mosaics were the height of the pieces was completely different. For instance I've seen some mosaics that used kitchen utensils and the handles of coffee mugs. So it's entirely possible that you can not have a completely level flat surface. It might just take a little bit more time to carefully remove the grout from the higher items.
looks great! I love using the glue instead of grout.
Fantastic! Thank you!
Wow!! So beautiful! You did an amazing job!!
Oh so pretty!!! Nice job! Turned out just lovely♡♡♡

Depending on the size, plastic rulers may work on the sides.
That's a good idea!
So beautiful like it.You amazing
gorgeous
That is awesome!!!
pretty!
lovely
Beautiful!!
it is good and you are a good teacher
Thank you!
Beautiful!!!!
Beautiful! Thank you!
The 5 minute epoxy we use in art definitely yellows over time. Not sure I would use epoxy like that. We have painted over the yellow epoxy on old pieces. I do not do mosaics but this is a heads up.
I do mosaic and that looks great honey ❤🎉
Super! Классно!
Thanks for your art how to
Very nice. Can I use this method to cover the top of an old coffee table?
Vic I’m a newbie. I was looking for anyone who’s made a fairly recent post looking for some answers. I wonder if this person transferred that image from memory or how she transferred that image to the wood? I’m on my very first mosaic project (cement coasters) and trying to determine the easiest way to transfer an image to the stone coaster. Thank you if you happen to know!!
Instead of using the Piping Bag just use a plastic bag and snip off the corner. Much cheaper.
If you can afford it, a piping bag really is the way to go. The hole is centered in the conical shape and the plastic is sturdier. You can apply more pressure and work faster. If you apply pressure to a plastic bag, the hole is likely to stretch out and/or the bag breaks. There is a notable difference.
So what do you now suggest to use other than tape to keep epoxy from leaking?
Wow, noticed your border...just inherited 2 sets of the Currier & Ives dishes from my mom after she passed. Hopefully won’t break them but will keep any breakage. (This is Kimberly wife of Don)
Thank you! My mother has always collected Curriers and Ives as well. I love them! Thankfully, after so many years of collecting, she had some broken pieces she didn't mind donating to the project.
Thanks for this
beautiful! would it survive outside?
A great video, thanks for the upload, however, how about some safety glasses for cutting the dishes?
What type of glue are you using? To fix the tiles on the wood? And what are mixing and pouring on them
Wow
Could you put clear coat over a grouted mosaic to make it shinny and sealed?
Wow! Love it! :D
Wow very very nice.xxx
So elegant , I made lion statues with the same idea👌
The second mix is to allow it to get "hot" .
Thank you! I didn't know this.
Shouldn't you base coat the wood before you start your project?
Make sure you wear gloves!! That way you will be able to save your hands and feel your way around when your blind from not wearing safety glasses..
Richard Lantz Hahahaha! So true!
I laughed for 5 minutes after reading this 🤣🤣😂😂
😂
Rude
I wondered if a blow dryer would work.
💜
Hi lovely video, late to the party-- can you say what product you used to seal (the brand?) Thanks ! :)
Hermoso!!!
