Sorry about the description, the auto uploader failed, at least it didn’t corrupt the video. Since mark locked the description, this comment will serve as one. This video was posted onto Vimeo in December of 2008. According to the video uploader, this was a recording of a practice private match they were going to play with a friend, but his friend hadn’t joined yet. He uninstalled the game shortly after, and warned his friends to do so too.
When the Player began constructing it, he stopped moving his camera around so much. Because of that, the compression algorithm figured it could make the unmoving background higher quality since, yknow, it's not moving and thus doesn't need to compress the shit out of it since it can just send that information once
Fun fact: you can verify if an archive channel is real by using the way back machine, if the original video shows up then it’s real, but if it isn’t it might not, the only problem is that finding it is the hard part
To our knowledge, this video was taken off Vimeo a couple days after it was uploaded. We presume it was the uploader, but he never got back to us. Yes, someone somehow managed to snag the video before it was taken down, but that doesn’t mean it’s archived on the Wayback Machine. Feel free to prove us at The Source Engine Anomaly Archival Team wrong, however.
1:47 The most natural reaction would be to think that it was a spy and shoot everywhere. But no, this is a ARG, the guy have to just stand there watching, he sure sucks at casual.
That’s simply because the automatic archival system mark made for us stopped working properly, we’re still trying to fix it. The actual year that was supposed to be there was 2008, not 2.
@someonethatisok 3 videos of nothing fully substancial but vague description about something than we dont even have a clear explanation yet, i hope the ad hominem was worth it.
According to the information we have, this was a recording of a practice private match the user was going to play with a friend, but his friend hadn’t joined yet.
something to note: at 2:05 in the video, the sentry can be heard targeting, shooting twice, then breaking (the breaking can also be seen in the top left) but it's replaced when he turns back. any theories as to why, Anomalies Team?
@@gamersgambit7517 This is why the viewers are so important. None of us noticed this, and in our current understanding of how the anomalies work this makes no sense. We’ve begun doing more research into the uploader of this video, and I suspect this won’t be the last time you see them in our archives.
My theory is that these anomalies are some cut, more advanced version of the AI systems used in the release version of Source, with the engine itself actively 'fighting' them, but I don't have much ground to stand on for that aside from Archive 2 implying that these anomalies can pre-load maps and thus have a root connection to the engine
this reminds me of a source engine/gmod ARG that I havent been able to find, but I can still remember one video, can anyone help me find it? I believe the video was titled, or it had the phrase "VALVE WORMHOLE" or something like that, in the content of the video I also remember the style of the video was very reminiscent of the monument mythos
literally the entire existence of batwatervideos2009 proves you wrong, it was added in august of the same year this was uploaded to Vimeo in canon, so this is entirely plausible (and would explain his hitting of the wood sign next to red spawn)
I believe these anomalies these players have been facing are either an entity or an effect. If it's an entity, the counter could be to lure it to a place where you have some type of control over the medium (ex: Gmod) and try to mess with it to get as much information as possible. If the anomalies are effects, then it can't really be helped since it's pratically a digital natural disaster except that it looks to be harmless and only scares others and messes with their game. I know nothing of this Errors since I'm just making assumptions by watching these archives, it would be interesting to see more of it so i can try to understand more of this phenomena. I probably wouldn't be able to do much since im just a guy talking to a whole professional team about it.
Huh... Didn't know about these. I thought the only possible thing was the anomalies caused by the whole interloper thing, Because it is omnipresent in every source game, but... These are new, simple but dangerous. Although they are from around a similar period, apparently. Do you think they are related? And, if not directly, what do you think they are? Unlike the interloper phenomenon, these things have not manifested themselves again, nor have I encountered them myself.

pretty good vid if you suspend your disbelief a bit, I liked to mess around in singleplayer, even without bots, so just building shit at the last point doesn't really look unrealistic to me, and the mouse shaking at little scares seems pretty genuine too, the only thing that kinda threw me out a bit was how quickly and precisely you jumped to quitting out, even before you realistically could register what's going on, seemed a bit TOO scripted, you know also, Anomaly Archival Team, really? xd
