Thanks UA-cam Dad for doing this video. You are the go to guy when it comes to Himiway bikes!
Your welcome! Thanks for the kind comments!
thanks turtle, helpful
No problem!
plug into the battery first then into an outlet. Keeps the ever so small ark off your battery terminal....
good tip
Excited to see..you are the youtube himiway guru!
Thanks, not sure about the guru part....I just try to help people that don’t do much of this.
Nice bike
It’s a great bike for buzzing around the neighborhood!
Hi T.T., I'm hoping you can help me. The rear axle of my Escape is making a creaking noise. I took of the rear brake and I loosened the rear wheel and still have creaking. I have a video I can share with you if that would be helpful? Any ideas on where the creaking noise could be coming from? Thank you.
Is it when the bike is rolling? or bouncing?
I’m not certain if I am going to be able to help diagnose/troubleshoot over the net. Have you posted to any of the Facebook groups?
@@TinkeringTurtle It is when the tire spins, either upside down with no power or when traveling down the road with the motor running -- same creaking noise. Yes, I am trying to use f.b. pages to get help as well, but so far no one has been able to help me either. I have also reached out to Himiway. Thank you for responding. :)
It sounds like you have isolated it into the rear wheel. I think Himiway is likely going to be your best bet for troubleshooting. sorry I could not be more helpful.
Much appreciation for this helpful video. The step by step instruction with demonstration is clear and easy to follow. Thanks to this video, I feel confident about assembling the bike without assistance which is not readily available in the very remote, rural area in where I live. 🙏✌️
Glad it was helpful! I hope you enjoy your Escape!
My derailier needed adjustment , and I didn’t know that , the chain jumped low gear wound around the gear set , nearly threw my wife off the bike . I took the bike to a shop and had a new derailed installed and a new chain put on as the chain was broken, I did this on my own , because I didn’t want to go through all the bs, to get it fixed .
Good feedback. Usually you just need to adjust the indexing on your derailleur, but it sounds like you would have needed to check your limits as well.
Is the charger included?
Yes it is.
I have had my Cruiser for several weeks and have numerous questions about battery consumption and the power bars particularly the battery power bar settings (VOL) and how the motor power bar indicator works. According to the manual I downloaded the first bar indicates a value of 31.5 volts but no other information is available. What does this setting do? Also I have assumed that if the motor power bar indicator is telling me how much power is being drawn from the battery at any given time but I can't find more details. Any help?
The “VOL” setting defines each bar of the battery levels that show on the screen. It indicates at what voltage each bar represents.
The motor power bar will ramp up as you use more power, but it doesn’t give you any specific info.
So far I'm very pleased with my Escape, except, has anyone commented on how HARD the seat is? It looks big, and soft, but in reality you're sitting on maybe an inch of "foam", and the rest is a really hard ride. Looking at getting an additional "comfort cover" made for it. Lex
That is true! It gets hard pretty quick, it would be cool if there was some suspension that could be added!
Thanks 👍🏻
No problem 👍
Hey man , I always get something from your vids. I'm wondering why the escape is so heavy and it's speed- battery capabilities? Thanks.
It’s heavier, in my opinion, because of the frame design. It is really beefy and has two rear shock absorbers which add weight also.
From my (minimal) amount of testing so far the speed performance is comparable to the Cruiser and Step thru. The actual acceleration may be slightly less due to the weight. But I don’t think it’s significant.
The battery is smaller so it won’t go as far per charge. But 14ah is kind of the industry standard for battery size. And I think the Escape is designed more for urban around town riding vs Cruising longer distances. So maybe that is why they didn’t put on the larger battery. You still get 45-ish miles, which is pretty good. Hope this answers your questions!
I forgot to mention that the Escape also has aluminum rims vs spoked wheels. I imagine that adds some weight as well.
@@TinkeringTurtle hi. I have some rims that are mag or aluminum and came straight out of a box and one was bent, but I'm putting them on a tandem that is meant to be babied, otherwise I'd worry about using them as I don't believe they can be trued? I'm thing himiway escape are stronger than what I have from a Walmart mongoose. Cheap bike, I just wanted the rims. Thanks Tinker.
So much easier than the company's own video! I appreciate the dialogue to help guide. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Tim: what XT connectors does the Himiway Escape Pro uses?
I’m sorry Charles, I am not sure. I haven’t had a reason to pull it apart far enough to find out.
How do you take off the rear tire off the escape to replace the tube? cant see how you take off the derailer
The rear derailleur does not come off. I don’t have a specific video for the escape. The video linked below will show you the basic process. The only difference is that the escape axle did not sit down completely in the frame on my bike, so take note of the position before removing the axle nuts.
I hope this helps!

Put 18 miles on my new Escape. I think I like it. Awaiting for the front basket and rear luggage rack. The battery on mine drops in from underneath! It just hangs there, hopefully locked in. Different from the videos. What's up with this...please. lex
Sounds like you purchased an Escape “Pro”, and not an original Escape as shown in this video. The Escape Pro has the battery configuration that is inserted underneath the frame.
@@TinkeringTurtle Thank you sir for responding. It would seem more secure being mounted from the top. Any idea behind the change? I turn 80 in 3 weeks. Got it to help deliver neighborhood association fliers. I'm meeting a LOT of the neighbors in our one square mile area first hand with this. It's great. Thank you for your videos. Lex
I would tend to agree with you. Mounting the battery underneath seems like it would increase the chance of a failure mode. I really don’t know why the would change that. Maybe mounting it that way somehow gives you more space for a higher capacity battery…. I just don’t know.
Hello Mr. Turtle :) I was wondering what, if anything, a person can do if the front brake disc is not perfectly true. I am just now assembling my bike and it is a bit warped. Thank you for your help :)
Hi MT Brain, the brake rotors can be trued with this tool from Amazon.
Tool link:
amzn.to/3XrotQM
I personally don’t have a video on using it. But I have fixed a rotor with it, my only advice is to go in small increments. As always it’s a good idea to search for a UA-cam video for instructions.
I hope this helps!
@@TinkeringTurtle Thank you SO much :))
@MT Brain, check out this video.

Very helpful. Just put my wife's together.
Excellent!
Enjoy the ride!
Thank you! Very detailed and super helpful
You're very welcome, glad it was helpful!
Do not take off front disc break! What a headache
Take it off or not it will still need to be loosened and adjusted either way.
I just bought a Himiway Escape, it doesn't ship until April but your videos will be really helpful thank you. Can you unlock the speed on the Escape?
You should be able to make the same adjustments as you can on the other two bikes, so I am thinking... yes.
@@TinkeringTurtle awesome thanks for the reply, I look forward to your future videos
I just purchased one last week. What is the anticipated wait time? Roughly of course
Does it come with charger?
Yes it does!
Tim- On which side of the front wheel did you put that notched washer? I couldn't tell.
Thanks a lot for another great video! 👍
I did it just like Himiway showed in their assembly video. They showed the flat washer with small notches around the edge going on the long spacer, non brake rotor side of the wheel.
Mine just arrived and your video was great! Mine came with two extra black nut caps, do you know where they go?
How exciting! I hope you enjoy your new bike!
The black nut caps I got were for the nuts on the front wheel. If you got more than two, then it is probably a mistake.
@@TinkeringTurtle thank you so much!
Would like to have a question answered 🤔
What question?
@@TinkeringTurtle which kickstand will work on my cruise?
Mine sheard off and looking for a replacement
@Bobby Ray For the Himiway Cruiser or step thru you can use any kickstand with a 40mm bolt pattern. Here is a link to one, it’s a little pricey but if you poke around you might be able to find something cheaper. This should give you some specs to work from though.

@@TinkeringTurtle thanks 😊
