  • It is a level 2 video to learn how to decrease the number of stitches.
You can see here two techniques to decrease.
Slip Slip Knit - also known as SSK. which leans to the left.
Knit 2 together - also known as K2tog which leans to the right
This video is referenced on the website www.brooknit-bonneterie.com.
    #Movetheneedles , one stitch at a time!
We use circular needles in bamboo size 8. The yarn is the a ball of 100% Merino super-wash worsted weight, in Slate color, from Brooknit Bonneterie.
Hands belong to Julie Lagauzere, principal at Brooknit Bonneterie LLC.
Voice and authentic French accent belong to the same person ;)
    SSK:
1- Slip the first stitch as to knit, from the left to the right needle
2- Slip the second stitch as to purl, from the left to the right needle.
    3- Knit those stitches together.
On the video, it is made by inserting the LEFT needle in front of the two stitches on the RIGHT needle. Which is exactly the position as for knitting 2 together (right needle in the back, left needle at the front,).
    K2tog:
1- Insert the right needle through the 1st and 2nd stitches at the same time, knit wise.
2- Knit as if they were one ("together").
You can also come across Purl 2 together (P2tog), which consists at inserting the right needle through the 1st and 2nd stitches at the same time, purl wise.
Then purl as if they were one ("together")
For larger decreases, you may find in patterns different counting, such as K3tog, which means Knit 3 together.
    And voilà! Happy knitting
