Ti 83 Plus Calculator Glitchy Screen Repair

This is a Ti 83 Plus graphing calculator with a messed up screen that I was able to successfully repair. These aren't that hard to find at say a Goodwill or thrift store and can resell for quite a bit if you are willing to spend a little time fixing it.

Love how honest and realistic your repair was, showing the mistakes along the way 😄
I managed to get mine working simply heating the flat ribbon and pressing it down with an eraser while it was warm and it works, with occasional glitches.
The solder method is definitely more reliable, but is obviously risky and you need a very steady hand.
That being said, I wonder why no one has tried replacing the flat ribbon with a new one. It seems it should be fairly easy to do with a hot air gun. Or am I mistaken?

Hi and thank you :) I think the issue with replacing the cable is that it's not the best design on the first place so instead using hard wires is a more permanent and reliable solution.
