it's crazy because i feel like a lot of darkskin girls wanted to be lighter back in the day but no one really spoke about it; however now these ppl are opening up about how we felt back then. Uh, thank God darkskins are being celebrated now and we need to continue to empower one another.
I love girl talk and this is real talk.
My mother always calls me fat. I tell her not to but she doesn’t listen and pretends she didn’t call me fat. Now I’m very self conscious about how my body looks. I don’t even think I’m pretty.

I used to think "light" is better most recently because society said so. Growing up I noticed how people pick on the darker skinned individuals. I am dark skinned and haven't been bullied for my skin but I know colorism exists especially on social media.
I feel like BBLs, Fillers, Facetune are so common on ig that looking like a soulless bratz doll is the beauty standard. But it’s IMPOSSIBLE to look like that irl for example on Ig Kylie Jenner looks “perfect” but irl you can see the double chin, spots (which are normal). The beauty standard on ig is completely different to the one in real life so honestly we need to stop comparing ourselves to it.
I feel like we’re bombarded with so many images of “beautiful” girls on Instagram we forget how constructed it all is. They have used makeup,hair stylists, lighting,angles,face tune to look like that for a photo shoot but they don’t look like that 24/7 they may not look like that at all.
I will never understand people who share their negative opinion on someone else's appearance, it's so unnecessary. Like what are you trying to achieve? I love that influencers like yourself are having these discussions though! The influencer community has created a beauty standard within itself so its positive when influencers can be transparent with their audience 🤍
I hate when people say on Instagram comments like, "She's not curvy, she's fat and unhealthy.!" Like dude!! Just because you are in a specific body shape does not mean you're healthy. I hate this new Gym culture, that say healthy=shape. Nooo, it's not.! You can increase your immunity by eating veggies and drinking meds etc. But it doesn't mean that you need to get into a specific shape.!!!
Dropping gems per usual. You're so right about trends changing because you'll change yourself to fit certain standards and then those standards change. Case in point - blackness, dark is trending right now and a few years back it wasn't, I feel so bad for every woman who bleached their skin only for their natural skin tone to be in the spotlight right now.

yessss omg. i met this girl and she like joined our neighborhood friend group and she was soooo critical, she would comment on my nails telling me i should get them professionally done, commenting on my hair, commenting on what i wore, like literally always negative, she even went as far to comment how i walk. and i would tell my friends what she was doing cause they would wonder why i didnt like her sooo much, and they would be like its just a joke dont take it sooo seriously, actually it was just this one 14 yo dude named luke who would take her side, and she even called someone ugly then said she was joking and i found that crazy and ppl would tell me im being over sensitive but like she was hurting me, thank goodness she lives in another state now but yall dont let those negative haters get to u.

I have never heard something so true, thankyou i needed this and you are so right. We are told what is beautiful and if u dont look like that u automatically feel ugly or fat or not good enough and thats not tru. Everyone is beautiful in their own way to different ppl and us girls should stick together and stand up for each other not tear each other down. I've had friends who would put pressure on other women to go natural & I just feel its really up to the person. I wouldn't put someone down because they chose natural hair and I expect the same for my choices 😔 please can we do better. can we normalise not making other women feel like shit we've got enough on our plates👏.

Light skin, brown skin, or dark skin, it really does not matter, what really matter is how an person appearance and behave that mostly what a person try to hold on to. Theres is a lot of social media out there that sometime give off the wrong chemistry what is good, and what is bad, An attractive person or an Unattractive; It is neither fault: And you know at sometime in ours life everyone will feel or go though some unconditional time.
