Idk why everyone is tripping on Penning. I'm not saying he'll be a stud, but last year was basically his rookie season, and they gave up on him 5 games in. He was bad, I get that, but you drafted a project at LT and immediately gave up on him. Idk if he'll be good or not, but I wouldn't be against them giving him another season, but signing a legit LT to compete with him
He actually gradual improved in those games. Statistically at least.
He should be moved to left guard. I think he'd be good there

In your past history we have had O linemen have a slow start and ended being great give him time.
Exactly and he spent the whole offseason after his rookie season injured according Mickey Loomis. The Saint’s staff didn’t give up on him, they're giving him time to learn.
Penn State OT didnt give up any sacks. Might be worth moving up for him
Offensive line is a MUST for the Saints. You ain't going nowhere without it! All they need is pass protection and run blocking! Offensive line is priority #1!!!
According to Mickey Loomis, Trevor Pennning didn't spend the whole offseason after his rookie season preparing to be the starting left tackle, he spent it out due to an injury he suffered in the last game of his rookie season.
The Saints have difficulty picking O-Line and D-Line (Caesar Ruiz, Trevor Penning, Payton Turner, Marcus Davenport) we passed on Brandon Aiyuk & Lamar Jackson for Duds not Studs!
Exactly. Since 2015 they have picked 9 linemen on the only one who worked out is ryan and now he could potentially be retiring. The other 2 is Chris olave and latt. So why not fill the roster with impact players instead of drafting guys who won’t even start 2 seasons from when you draft them?
Agreed on guard. Been wanting them to try Penning at LG. When we won our only Super Bowl (and the only one we will ever get most likely) we had the best two guards in the league. Evans and Nicks. They matter. Inside pressure kills all QB’s.
Matt doesn’t understand the Penning situation at all… playing guard isn’t “easier” per se than playing tackle, but it is different. Pennings problem was his technique and his ability to take coaching and applying it to the field. That’s not going to change if you move him to guard…
If Pennings athleticism was holding him back, then yea, moving him to guard might make sense. But it’s not… and Trevor isn’t going to magically develop better technique or absorb coaching by moving him around. He would just be a terrible guard instead of a terrible tackle.
Trevor has the athletic profile of a tackle. The Saints would do best by getting different coaches in the building to hopefully find someone to get through to Trevor, and salvage the pick… (and this sounds like exactly what they are doing)

Likewise, I agree. Bone on bone at his age is pretty much a sign to hang up the cleats.
I think he would flourish at Guard… might be a 2-3 year learning curve but I think it’ll be worth a shot
Address the lines in FA…draft Bowers Rd one..fill needs with BPA for the rest of the draft 👍🏼

If we allow Trev to ID the guy(s) he feels like driving backward (the DTs) on the OPP Dline... Imma go around 80% success. He might even be a Probowl guard... he has the means... I think he has the will. I wonder with the coaching changes??? Do we have the vision? Who among us wouldn't like to see the Saints be a Top-5 Rushing team? I want #1. It's the best ticket to the front row of the show.
Wait didn't we get him protection last season?? So we're just expected to keep drafting Olineman in the 1st Rd.
The hardest thing to get is edge rusher cause too expensive to get in free agency or trade my opinion don’t feel smart getting offensive line man if first round,trade even lattimore to move higher for edge rusher,make easier for offensive lineman in 2nd
I don't care what the Saints need but if Bowers falls to 14 that becomes a must pick.
Are the aints going to go after Renfro? Even if you don't like Carr, Renfro is pretty good, and the Raiders are practically giving him away. Or they will outright release him

Caveat Emptor... there might be a Falcons fan who feels "who among us doesn't wanna be a Top-5 rushing team" would be that fan. No love lost and I like it that way...I don't like the Falcons... I get ill when we lose to them. I love Ram and Patrick... we were so close on the QB that day. We almost got to draft him. So I loved seeing the 49ers lose almost as much as watching Brady come back to beat the Falcons... it was close... and I don't like the Rams either... finally, Tampa had lost almost 30 games in a row to begin their NFL play... and finally one day, they won their first game... it still hurts

I would love to see penning at LG pick up a vet in FA and then draft Cam Jordan’s replacement or if Bowers or a legit WR is available at the pick go that way.
To be honest, you have your 1 and 2 already on the roster in shaheed and olave. Drafting a WR with the first round pick would create a circus of the worst variety. Throw me the ball! By golly, there is only one ball!
They just drafted ah linemen with ah 1st round pick 2 years ago and Mickey said they had a plan for penning. Ram has a whole offseason to get healthy and McCoy and cesar isn't going anywhere so there not drafting ah left guard with ah first round pick. Then theres no time for DA. There going to trade up to take bowers who will make ah immediately impact or the best receiver left.
Ram has bone on bone in his knees. At his age, he isn't getting healthy. And, even if he has replacement surgery, that's a long recovery and it doesn't always take. If Ram plays next season or more, he will be foolishly jeopardizing his health.
@@aaronlawson5915 I understand but the since 2015 they have selected linemen with the first round pick and they’ve all failed except of ram and they other 2 where olave and latt. So why keep drafting them when you could fill the roster with more impact players?

I’m going to say this, Matt and I’m not a hater so don’t call me one. I don’t like your pic of the offensive line with the first draft pick. I think they should go get a better skill position need like wide receiver or tighten or defensive line for that matter before they draft a fucking tackle. Not with their first pick maybe in the third or fourth round they could trade back in yeah but if not, they need to handle that position through free agency straight up because there’s too much talent to fuck around and go wasted on an offensive lineman, who you don’t know, is gonna even be good or not I say, go with the person that’s proven that’s an instant impact, that skill position available or tight end or defensive lineman
We all know they will reach for a developmental DE 2 rounds ahead of where every other team has them. 😂

To be honest, if the Saints draft Sanders, I'd be ecstatic. Dude has performed incredibly well with arguably the worst Oline in college football.

I have zero faith in Saints drafting. Last 5 years they have not set the world on fire with their draft picks especially with #1 picks. They seem to place way to much emphasis on RAS scores instead of looking at all the other intangibles a draft prospect brings to the table which leads to them drafting a guy who is a RAW prospect & usually has a history of injuries. So far they done benched Penning and they have a #2 draft pick in Foskey sitting on sidelines & Payton Turner has been on injured reserve more than he has seen the field,. Missing on a lot of picks in last 5 years is why this team is struggling as they been having to rely of aging vets to take up all the slack of bad draft picks.

How many players does it take to get to center of giving Carr enough support to make him a playoff QB. The world may never know.
First, Penning has had 1 year. Secondly, even if Penning doesnt work out, you dont just stop trying to pick OL because 1 pick didnt work out. Thats loser mentality
Look at the falcons 2 top 5 linemen at there position what that got them? Nothing. Joe burrow best wr trio in the league with one of the worst lines and they made the superbowl. Draft ah skill position.
