  • The numbers are staggering: Black Americans are twice as likely as their white counterparts to die of diabetes. Earl Sewell is determined to counter that trend. The 53-year-old suffered from many diabetes complications, including vision lapse and fainting spells. But he was able to reverse his diabetes in just a few years, becoming a road-biking vegan who, in his words, is “living my best life while I have it.” Earl’s turnaround story is an inspiration for all. This is episode 2 of the second season of Walgreens “In Our Words” series documenting the most urgent issues of health equity affecting major portions of the US population.
