EquaGel wheelchair cushions are designed from the ground up to address comfort, positioning, stability, and the factors that can lead to skin deterioration.
Each cushion is composed of a two stage, dry polymer gel that is not only durable, but has incredible tensile & compression strength.
The upper stage of each cushion is composed of small open cells with thin walls for comfort and breathability. This reduces heat and perspiration that can lead to skin deterioration and even pressure wounds.
The lower stage is composed of larger open cells with thick walls that give each cushion support and keep the user stable.
These cell walls are designed to buckle under pressure rather than push back against your body. This “column buckling” technology evenly distributes pressure across the top of the cushion, reducing stress on pressure points like your ischium.
The Equagel has 4 variations in a wide range of sizes so that you can select the perfect fit.
The Straight Comfort Equagel cushion is the 1.75” tall standard flat model if you don’t have any additional positioning needs.
The General Equagel cushion is a bit deeper at 2” tall with a ¾” pelvic contour for positioning and stability.
The Protector Equagel cushion is even deeper at 2.5” tall with that same ¾” pelvic contour.
And finally, the Adjustable Protector Equagel cushion is 2.5” tall but comes with inserts that allow you to adjust that pelvic contour from flat all the way up to ¾” so that you can adjust it to get the perfect fit.
