Excellent comparisons!. Ilike watching your videos....its very peaceful and non distracting and the long format kinda really make it a verygood tool for analying the product better before comitting to buying it online since we cant actually hold it.
I also dig the cacophony of jungle white noise. It reminds me of camping and trekking thru the jungles here in Malaysia in my younger days. Very peaceful.
The advantage of the Vic is also in warranty, lifetime warranty vs 5 year warranty, plus I got the main blade on my Handyman replaced after it wore out with a decade of use. Don't think any other company barring maybe Leatherman offers that service. As to 12C27 at 60 HRC vs 4110 at 55-56 HRC, the trick is to routinely use a glass hone which will bring a Vic edge back to sharp with minimal effort and not force one to do a complete sharpen until the apex is worn away. Furthermore, most of us also carry dedicated separate single blade folders that are more ergonomic for hard cutting tasks in urban environments and pair our Vic with a small fixed blade for bushcraft so it's a moot point really.
I am deliberating between the m61 and workchamp. There is a $30 difference on Amazon. Like u said, Vic commitment to servicing their products and the cool factor is off the charts. I think the rake has nicer tools. Also, the workchamp is approaching the Swiss tool price
M61 is comparable in price and tools to the Handyman, NOT the Workchamp, also, I've owned both and kept the Vic because it's tried and tested, I found the Ruike clunky in comparison, I want something I can and will use for decades@@chevy4x466
The Vic has a file, a larger flat driver that locks, two Phillips heads, an eyeglass screwdriver, a toothpick, and is a little lighter. The Ruike has a belt cutter, a glass breaker, and a pocket clip, along with a beefier blade with thumb stud for opening, saw, pliers, scissors, tweezers, and in-line (rather than "T" style) reamer.

That Ruike (also known as Fenix) is "suspiciously" similar to the Böker Plus Tech Tool (City & Outdoor) series folding knives manufactured in China. I suspect they both come from the same Chinese manufacturer. I own several Böker Plus Tech Tool folding knives and their blade edges are far to be as sharp as any Victorinox and somehow they don't transmit the same quality. Nonetheless I like my Böker Plus knives and I like the design and looks of that Ruike too. Does that Ruike have a sharp blade like the Victorinox? Or is it less sharp like it happens to be with my Böker Plus knives?
RUIKE is a Chinese company which manufactures for Böker; it also offers its own models which are distinguished by the one-handed opening of the knife blade. RUIKE offers high-end multi-function knives, in Victorinox quality; Fenix is its distributor.
@@diezelle57 What I noticed on my Böker Plus Tech Tool knives is that, aside from the blade being far less sharp than any Victorinox, the scissors are far less precise too, they almost don't cut because there's play between both blades and the paper bends in between.
I would buy the victorinox. I believe in loyalty as a fundamental. This trekker stole almost all their design features from victorinox and wenger...I don't support companies that do that. The scissors and plier designs are stolen from wenger who now belongs to victorinox. And, the devil is in the details: notice the positive click when the two phillips screwdrivers are closed on the workchamp, and the trekker doesn't have that. Also, with respect to that arguably more impressive blade; a slip joint style knife blade's weakest link is at the pivot, so you can make a big bad blade, but it is stiil inherently weak because of the pivot point. Most serious outdoorsman will have a dedicated high quality folder or fixed blade knife for doing heavy knife chores. Great vid, Diez-elle. 😉
"pivot point": what is the problem? Me, I see: G10 scales, screwed assembly, glass breaker, pocket clip, thicker blade in high quality steel, blade with safety when closing, punch aligned, blade open with one hand. .. an interesting and quality variation of a comparable Victorinox. Therefore, as a multi-tools enthusiast, I cannot rule out the models of RUIKE (~ BÖKER, SANMERU). Loyalty in terms of tools where everyone copies everyone ... So variation not counterfeiting. You know that there are fakes of Victorinox (Swiss Champ for a few dollars/ see on Chinese sites), it is obvious that RUIKE has not played this game, these models are innovative and expensive.
Great review! Already owe that Victorinox and find this other multitool very interesting, such a great knife!! Could you possibly make a video of the SOG Power Litre? (The tiny one with the corkscrew). Find it very very useful in such a small package, but there's almost no info of it anywhere. Thanks!
I do not have the SOG Powerlitre (see the pinned list), I have the SOG Powerpint. I am disappointed with this multi-tool even if its format is very interesting.
Which would you choose? I feel like I don't use the metal saw enough to worry and having the ability to add the mini corkscrew screwdriver to the ruike makes up for my main reason to purchase the tool at all. Which would you say appears to me more hard use oriented? And do you think the tool set is better on the workchamp?
In intensive and varied use, these two models will be satisfactory. On the tool side, the RUIKE does not have a file, a 3D cruciform screwdriver, locking or semi-locking on the large flat screwdriver/ bottle opener and can opener but has a belt cutter blade, a clip pocket, a wider blade of superior steel and opening with one hand and a glass breaker tip. And the RUIKE weighs about 60 grams more :) ...
Great video again - thank you! Have to say I like this Ruike Trekker a lot, and note that its blade material is Sandvik 12C27. Currently it's priced at £67.95 at Heinnie's, which is a good price which I'll be buying soon instead of that over-engineered TAG SUPRA whose bit holders could have been made a lot better. Just to add how I love the white noise overlay and to share this website for more relaxing sounds: mynoise.net/ and also rain.today/ both sites are free, open to donation. I use a mix of rain and distant, non-threatening thunder which helps me sleep at night. But I adore your birdsong and would love its URL. Again many thanks!
Thanks for this video. It is a good match, but for my use in particular, I think the Vic is still better by a thin margin. If I used more the blade, then probably the Ruike would win. I really miss a pocket clip on the Workchamp, though...
@@ketzalkoatlfromukraine You are abusing a bit. Instead of focusing your questions, yes? Obviously you will have to put a washer or two in case of replacement ... And I will not take the Ruike and Victorinox apart to see if the Workchamp's bottle opener tool will fit on the Ruike ...
Let’s copy everything from the Victorinox and put an European name to a multitool so that the orgin of the product is hidden. Cheap move but doesn’t matter there is written made in China and it says enough about its quality.

I like it too!

Perfect video, as always. Your videos are unique - it`s combination of meditation, tool review and multitool asmr)
I got both....knife are bigger on ruike and can operate with single hand...but ruike are heavy

Now waiting for improved chinese version of leatherman`s top line, especially - Crunch. Hm, is it possible to improve Surge?
Expert multi-outils
@@diezelle57
So Ruike is the one that makes some Böker Plus knives. Ok. That's why the similarity. It makes sense.
@@diezelle57
What I noticed on my Böker Plus Tech Tool knives is that, aside from the blade being far less sharp than any Victorinox, the scissors are far less precise too, they almost don't cut because there's play between both blades and the paper bends in between.

Both Ruike and Boker are getting their multitools made by Sanrenmu it seems.
@@diezelle57 That list make me feel envy, in a good way of course :) Do you have a review for the Powerpint?, will look for it.

@@diezelle57 Thank you so much!
Thx for the links :)
Thanks for this video. It is a good match, but for my use in particular, I think the Vic is still better by a thin margin. If I used more the blade, then probably the Ruike would win. I really miss a pocket clip on the Workchamp, though...
Victorinox?

"yeoman" = ???

Let’s copy everything from the Victorinox and put an European name to a multitool so that the orgin of the product is hidden. Cheap move but doesn’t matter there is written made in China and it says enough about its quality.
